1990s The Cure is what I always associate with hardcore bikers and hand building machines.

People on Etsy charge $50 for 2 printer dividers for my Dewalt boxes. Offered him $50 for 4 and he said no.

I'm unsure if you bought them, or didn't...are asking for some?  Which I'm happy to make.  Oh, how did the car stuff work out?  "I didn't like them" is always acceptable and a learning opportunity too, BTW.

The car stuff you made are ALL in use but when I got around to posting the pictures you’d purposely disabled my ability to post pics so everyone couldn’t see the shoddy work you do. The center console piece didn’t fit. Well, it fit just couldn’t close the lid.

I appreciate the offer - I don’t want to burden you or anyone else to start using time, materials and money to make free shit. If you charged, I’d buy 🙂

I didn’t buy them.

Well fuck, wonder why the maker of the console piece did that.  Wonder it's a year thing.

I'm happy to make stuff.  It's generally really cheap.  Every part I make teaches me something more.  So let's do this, do a search for:

3d print Dewalt (xyz) dividers, where xyz is the name of the box.

Tell me the name or give me a link, and I will also search.

I’d need 4 dividers.

They probably have to be solid, or close to it, and possibly of a decent material to hold up.  I don't know how much that costs to make, but probably not very cheap.

And "costs to make" is filament, printer wear, electricity, and labor.  The labor side is fairly low, 'till the machine needs work.  And I could be totally off, Carlos will know better.

I'll go with an analogy.  It costs nearly nothing to make a pretzel and the things that go with it.  This is why they offered Moriah anything else for 50% off with her pretzel the other day.  It costs a lot to acquire a customer and sell a pretzel.  Those costs were covered once she was there buying, now selling more stuff at 50% off is profitable.  Business 101.

If he's using ABS, which seems like a good choice for this, it's not super expensive, not cheap.  Probably not solid which is usually actually weaker than a good gyroid infill, physics is weird.  But it's toxic and you have to also buy filters, and a fume monitor if you like your brain.

His price is high but not crazy.  I'll try this with a lesser material and for Dave's uses (not a contractor) it will be fine.  That dude has to make them rugged to live in the field and in trucks.

Also...this happened.  I'll tell more after I get over the PTSD and anger.

Is this the thing?

Yesterday I deployed a new special high-flow nozzle and tuned the printer for it.  Now I'm able to turn out this quality (and I'll improve it) from a difficult material called PETG.  It's tough but flexible/machinable, unlike the more common material which is hard in the brittle sense (once it gives it's gone).  So PETG makes perfect sense for this task.  And I've learned how to match DeWalt yellow in other materials, now to match it in this...

This is pretty good, 90% good.  The day before this was looking like it had been made by a five year old from old Play-dough.

I installed some new home automation/security stuff, the camera had a very limited mount that didn't let me swivel far enough.  I bet there's a printable angle mount for it...

I've been annoyed at what to do with the small shop vac hose (used for tool connections) when I switch over to the larger cleanup hose.  I bet there's a clip...  It's even branded and I bought the officially curated color that matches theirs.

To install the new home stuff I needed to make holes in drywall which makes a mess, so...printed a vac drill thingie...

After removing some stuff I had oval holes that were too big for spackle to hold, and too small to back them with anything.  Normally you cut it bigger, and back it, and fill, but!  I just printed a sort of right size oval cup from TPU (rubbery), with a nipple in the middle.  Push it through, flexing, then it pops out and you use the nipple to pull it forward.  Apply cyano glue and accelerator.  Ten seconds later you cut off the nipple and it's ready for spackle.  I forgot pics.

Finished the shrine to the gods of 3D printing.  May they be pleased, and keep my filament dry and the spaghetti in the pantry.

1/4 hex driver bits, see the thread about fastener hoarding.

Today, I am out of problems to solve with a 3D printer.

Upgraded bit holders for Dewalt drivers.  The stock ones hold a single bit, and they are finicky as hell to use.  Two types, to see what's better.

My old table saw had a small storage rack on the overhead tube that was very useful.  It's wasted space, in an area where I very often want to put things to get them off the table which is also the outfeed.  I got these kitchen drawer/cabinet organizers, and printed a tube clamp.  Sure, there would be something like at at a store, but it would take longer to drive than to print.  Also would not be the proper trim color to go with my table saw's trim color, bright red.

And I needed to run a cable with premade ends and protect it/cover the hole, so...
