  1. My Carrera doesn't seem to burn, but I haven't put many miles on it yet. The most common cause for burning is a failed air/oil separator (part of the PCV system) or scored cylinders. My buddy's Boxter made clouds at start-up which is relatively common, mine never has visible smoke even after weeks of sitting. I find it funny how people with "high end/specialty/expensive" cars & bikes excuse a lot of flaws. I made several unpopular posts in the Jaguar and Ducati forums about their shityness. The only group that's as forgiving are China bike owners, but that I agree with since they're about half the price of a Jap bike and 1/4 of an Italian. It seemed like the China bikes actually had fewer problems than the Italians, and they were typically cheap & easy fixes. I read of several Ducatis being totaled by 0 MPH drops. The steering stops were/are fairly weak and since they're part of the frame the only 'proper' repair is a new frame. They can be a smokin deal at insurance auctions.
  2. ...or wiring, or the trigger.
  3. I've had both of those tools for about half the time you have. I got the screwdriver set as a company Christmas party gift, it came with a matching green Mini Maglight. My bit still has the ribs. I've lost track of the other bits it came with, but that one was special enough that it's still around. The cap for the screwdriver no longer stays, it was kinda loose fitting to start with and the threads stripped out. That bit lives in the driver, when I use it or the driver for something else they get reunited immediately after. More recently I discovered Craftsman screwdrivers with diamond encrusted tips, they grip quite well. I broke one of the drill bits from my extractor set years ago and never got around to replacing it. It's awesome when drilling for extraction and the extraction just happens.
  4. Oh, and to tell the difference on the screw; from my understanding the JIS screws always have a dot stamped into them. Look at any Phillips looking screw on a Jap vehicle and you'll likely see a dot denoting that it's a JIS.
  5. I've mostly decided that there's no reason to own a Phillips screwdriver, yet I have a shit ton more of them than JIS drivers. The few times I've tried a JIS driver on a Phillips screw it did better than a Phillips screwdriver did.
  6. Thermal event; is that what they call a carbeque these days?
  7. They look kinda sketchy, like they were cobbled together. Probably fine, but they'd bother me even if there's no good reason for it.
  8. Without evidence that there's other crap floating around in there I'd call it done too.
  9. 🤣🤣🤣
  10. Sweet!
  11. Yea, the 7 lug was in my mind and I briefly considered mentioning it.
  12. I think 3/4 ton and up of every brand has been 8 lug 'forever'. There might have been a time when they weren't.
  13. That's what I thought too, but I don't know them well enough to say for sure. I don't know what designates HD, guessing suspension and axle, maybe transmission model.
  14. I can attest to this, it started leaking right before he was leaving RacerXX X. 🙂
  15. Acetone can be deadly, I bet we can gather enough donations to buy you a lifetime supply.
  16. ....till it cums off the stripper and onto us.
  17. I bet the acetone addict is still proclaiming his love for his favorite Cuban(s)....and/or blaming at least one of them (me) for him being to big of a bitch to continue with his threads. If he had an ounce of confidence in his ability to bullshit people about his super skills/knowledge he wouldn't cave so easily to a person he claims is just an ignorant idiot.
  18. I've heard that you can wreck a paint booth just by spraying silicone into the air in it. Seems like a stretch, but maybe.
  19. Another factor may be that they're more likely to be blue collar workers and getting more daily exercise.
  20. My friend does e-waste and can line you up with something for damn near nothing, recycle value + shipping.
  21. Hang it on the wall of shame, or burry it in the rafters. If your good fender gets trashed then worry about it.
  22. Even if they were free it would be hard for me, but I might get over it.
  23. The reason I wouldn't have used silicone lube is that it stays slippery, and if it needs adhesive later it won't stick without a lot of cleaning/AKA nuking the surface off the planet. Think of grips, we use something that slips then dries to grip. Silicone sealant as a 'lube' woulda probably worked well. It's probably fine since it went in hard, but if it does loosen remember that the silicone lube will prevent adhesion so you'll need to remove it.
  24. Ahhh, now I see how the grommet works. I woulda used almost anything other than silicone lube, but it might be fine.
  25. If they had come up with caps for them it would be even better.
