xxxbirdxxx
Go with a bigger size tire in the rear? If so why? And if not why not? Thanks Guys
Redbird
Not without going to a bigger rim. Cramming a 190 (or god forbid a 200) onto a 5.5 inch rim alters the intended profile of the tire. Just my $.
DaveK
Absolutely..... Why...It fucking looks VERY cool ! Hell, I only ride in a straight line, anyway
xxxbirdxxx
But I like the XX rim and I am not sure if they make the same rim in a bigger size for the XX? Does anyone know if they do? Thanks
Redbird
There's companies out there that widen stock rims. Can't help you with names as that isn't really my bag, but I see their ads in the backs of magazines all the time.
Northman
Ducati uses a 190 on a 5.5" rim, and magazines hate it. I'd try a 190/55, but they're only available by two manufacturers, and expensive. If I was going to buy new wheels, I'd buy 6" rear, and go to the 190.
xxxbirdxxx
I bet she would look great with a bigger tire on the back? There seems to be plenty of room for more rubber back there.
RodeRash
The back tire on my bird looks really skinny when it is parked next to my Suzuki TL (which has a 190 on a 6" rim), but Ill take function over looks every time. The Suzuki actually handles a little quicker when you mount up a 180.
Motobeagle
Byrdman squoooze a 190 on his...... It was a big enough difference for me to notice, but not enough to lose faith in the corners. My .02.
blackhawkxx
I sure would like to hear the pipes on that bike.
EVLXX
I sure would like to hear the pipes on that bike. That's easy..... just remove your's. I did last night, .... very loud, with a bad tone.... in my opinion.
demon
I'm fixing to plop a 190 on the back of mine for drag racing. I've done enough corner carving  and am deciding to go straight line with mine. With the bike lowered, I don't think a 190 is going to hurt me anyway
porterb123
When I bought my bird a year ago, it had a brand new Sportec 190 rear on it. I don't know how it handles compared to a 180, but I have managed curves fairly well....but I will be replacing it with a 180. racerx296
I swiched to a 190 and am putting a 200 on it next time, looks much better than the 180. But to each his own.
Redbird
That's easy..... just remove your's They're not that bad. He welded in baffles at the ends of the stock header and I believe he also modified the crossover pipe to act as some sort of resonator. He's have to tell you exactly what he did, but it wasn't a simple as just bolting on the little ends you see. End result is pretty well thought out and executed. It is loud, but not as loud as you'd assume looking at the pics. Not too far above Nik's D&Ds on the obnoxious scale.
Buzz
Just read about this subject recently. Putting on a larger tire without a corresponding increase in rim width can alter handling characteristics, but more importantly WILL cause the tire to have an even tighter radius (squeezed on to the rim, per se). It may look "cooler", but at the expense of a decrease in the size of the contact patch of the tire to the road.
bajjer9
I am running 190 michelin road pilot on my rear...i didnt/dont notice any handling differences from the 180 IMHO
voodooxx
i too have thought about putting on a larger tire. it looks like a tight squeeze to me. i can see a 190 fitting but not so sure about a 200. if someone has a 200 on theirs i would love to see a pic. as for checking on the rim size... does anyone have a link to where it tells you what rim size you need for certain size tires (i.e. chart)? i had a 200 series on my chopper but i cant remember the rim size or where i figured out what size i needed(damn memory). it looked awesome on the chop but i understand the performance aspect of the xx is a helluva lot more important(i dig the curves). but still it would look cool. XXblitzkreg
My buddy just wrecked his 929 with a new set of michelin sport tracks. thinking of swapping them onto the XX...I can get them for free, there going to total his bike the rear is a 190 50......will it work in the XX??? Thanks B
Ian
Nope I wouldn't... Sacrifice handling without any benefit of a bigger tire. Pure poseur. I went down to a 180 on my Yamaha... No reason for a 190 or especially a 200.
