SwampNut Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 @DaveK I think this will meet your approval. I've posted about Adam's graphene tire coating before, don't think I've posted a full thread. Short story; it's fantastic, and can also be used on motorcycles safely. I was mildly disappointed that it seemed to fade away on the new truck tires kind of quickly. Also it has never looked as smooth/even as I'd like. I did some digging and asking, and learned it's because of the amount of oxidation and "stuff" that seeps out of new tires. The recommendation was to really clean them, and that it would take at least two applications. So I did it again yesterday, scrubbing with a stiff brush using car soap, and then another round of tire-specific cleaner, and more brushing. Normally they say to just spray that on and hose off. The results are great. I suspect this time it will work for a longer term, like it had on the Tesla's already-used tires, when I first applied it on that. Oh yeah, the 2x4 was a trick to reach the entire tread, although next time I'd use a 4x4 to get even more space. 1 Quote

DaveK Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) Cleaning the tire is critical. And not just a regular cleaning but like a super mega clean. So much so - they use such harsh chemicals to clean the rubber is sometimes stains the rims or adversely affects the aluminum. I use this and it usually takes 3 or 4 scrub downs before the black stops coming off. Edited September 23, 2024 by DaveK Quote
DaveK Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Oh, and I put my last coat on when I got the Jeep in April. 1300 miles on this application. 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 I started with Simple Green brand car wash, which is kind of harsh. I only use it for ceramic prep. And then the tire cleaner. I've had a couple of those super-harsh cleaners cause problems and now I'm wary of them. That one will stain fiberglass. Keep it away from the Waverunner. Ask me how I know... 🙄 Also I commented that it's motorcycle safe, should have said more. It cures and hardens. It will not run onto the tread. They told me to just not ride it for at least a day. blackhawkxx Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 I will have to give it a try one day. I found a new one a few months ago I really like for those that don't want the really shinny look and preserves the rubber, made for aircraft. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VSATBI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 When used as directed, Rubber Care will leave a beautiful dark black satin/matte look that is dry to the touch and will not attract dirt and break dust. This means the rubber will stay cleaner longer and be easier to keep clean. SEE EXAMPLE PHOTOS ON THE LEFT Rubber Care Ceramic is a high quality Aircraft grade Rubber treatment and conditioner. Once you use aircraft quality products you will never want to use automotive products again. Quote
SwampNut Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 The high-shine stuff makes me insane. Even more so on the inside. This is ultra low shine, and honestly I'd like just slightly more. But it lasts "forever." EDIT: You may be perceiving mine as high shine, it's partly the camera, and partly that it's not cured. It will look like Dave's photo. Quote
DaveK Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Same here - hate high shine. I just want it black. The outcome on the Rivian looks great! Quote

OrganDonor Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 (edited) I used Adams Advanced when I ceramic coated the MINI's paint and wheels. I use their graphine tire spray like you guys. Currently as a topper I'm using the Adams Graphene Boost that came in the initial kit, I may try out the Cerakote topper once the booster is gone. I had been using Adams Mega Foam in my cannon, but it goes through a lot of it and it ain't cheap. I'll be getting a bottle of the Koch-Chemie Active Foam to try next. I generally do a touchless wash weekly at home, and every couple of weeks I do a handwash with the one bucket system (not reusing mfs.) Speaking of Cerakote, if it hasn't been brought up before, their Trim Restoring wipes are absolutely insane. Oh, and Soft99 for the glass. On the tires I just use whatever APC I am currently using and scrub, rinse, and repeat until there isn't any brown coming out anymore. If you keep up with the graphene tire spray it makes it a lot easier than the initial cleaning was. Edited September 24, 2024 by OrganDonor Quote

Yeah, I've posted about them, and have tried them on a lot. Really a powerful tool. It's on the Rivian plastics, which weren't bad, these made them perfect. Also all the XR plastics. 4 hours ago, blackhawkxx said: Boeing Aircraft Specification Door bolt spec? 9 hours ago, OrganDonor said: Cerakote topper Google tells me nothing about this...what is it? Just under $20 on Bezo's site. It can be used as a weak ceramic coating by itself, but only lasts for between 6-12 months of real world wear. It is, however, extremely easy to apply, so a lot of folks use it as a topper... a sacrificial layer that enhances shine and other qualities of the top of the line ceramic coat it's on top of. Quote
DaveK Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Gonna try it. TY https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B94G13CN/ref=sw_img_1?smid=AOXMQPMOL1F1Y&psc=1 Quote

Gotcha, I didn't get the connection. I've gone with this for now. I think any of the major, top brands should be similar? And are you using this on tires too, or just paint? I guess I hadn't considered what can refresh the tires, they recommended this on paint every 3-6 months. Quote
