My father in law told me a long time ago I needed a two pound hammer. It was great advice. I have used it at least a hundred pounds and then some. Then I found out it can be used as a knife if wielded with sufficient skill. Pretty good at lacerating.IMG_3560.thumb.jpeg.49f3f70a77242888c416961ec0468d56.jpeg

I've been there done that.  That last time, about 4 or 5 years ago required a trip to the E-room for some stiches.  I finally learned my lesson from that one.  Anything that is small enough that I have to hold it in place with my other hand while trying to hammer it......I use a pair of Channellocks or Vise grips and keep my hand out of the way.  It's just a shame it took me 65 years to learn that lesson.

Right where your thumb bends. That's going hurt for a while.  I've learned gloves really do help keep the skin where it belongs and together.

Oh, I was wearing gloves. The nitrile ones. Thing about that was that I thought I had just bashed my knuckle real hard and kept working for a good while. It wasn’t until I pulled them off to go inside for some water that I saw what actually happened.

I actually missed my knuckle and it is fine, no pain at all. I probably go  up Ld have used a stitch but as a hospital corpsman I learned how to use butterflies and we are well on our way to healing.

Depending on what you are doing, different gloves for different jobs.  If I'm swinging a hammer, nitrile gloves isn't the right choice.  Glad your not in pain.

I smashed my right index finger about 30 years ago, the nail still grows with a crack down the length of it.

The same deal happened to me when I fell on my ass as a kid. Still have the crack.

Did you have to super glue it shut for several years to keep it from getting snagged on things and hurting/bleeding?
