SwampNut Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I hate constant noises like wind, generators, tires, etc. When I got quieter tires on the Rivian, the wind noise got more obvious. I did this, and now the tire noise is back. LOL! I've done similar things on a few cars. The Rivian is SO damn quiet. Quote
tomek Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Crank up the music. Won't be able to hear 🙉 tire or wind noise. 1 1 Quote
The Krypt Keeper Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Pretty neat idea Carlos, never thought of adding tubing to that area to aid in wind noise reduction. Quote
superhawk996 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 My Jeep had almost no wind or tire noise with 40" off-road tires and no roof or doors. Your truck just needs a different exhaust system. 1 Quote

I rejuvenated the door seals in my Excursion by adding silicone tubing inside the factory door seals. They use a hollow rubber seal, the tubing basically re-inflated them so they'd seal tighter. I've never thought about window seals, that should really let the Diesel engine clatter come to the forefront. Quote

I might try that idea on company's Freightliner. It is pretty quiet but strong side wind can pull away upper rear corner of side doors. Quote
jon haney Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) Is anyone surprised that Carlos is good with using rubber things? 🤔 Edited June 17, 2024 by jon haney 1 1 Quote
TFT Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Where did you get the tubing and what size? type? Quote

I've used both silicone and EPDM, and I prefer tubular over solid because it will be more forgiving on size. It will apply less pressure, which can be good and bad. Things like slingshot tubing (silicone) are an option. Start with my links and get ideas from there. 7 hours ago, DaveK said: The wind noise in the Jeep is terrible. LOL. And I used to remote start the AC all the time forgetting the doors were off. 1 Quote
