OKblackbird
I am 6' 170pounds and girlfriend is 5'8'' 135. She can't stand riding on the back, because of the stock seat. I sit up near the gas tank because my arms aren't comfortable overly extended sitting back in the saddle. When she is riding on the back she ends up sliding forward sitting smack in the middle of the rise in the seat . This smashes my jewels into the tank not to mention cutting the circulation off to the Unit. I have tried riding back in the saddle to position her properly on the seat but it is very uncomfortable for me and not enjoyable to say the least. Do I dump the clutch at 8g pulling the front wheel and throw the bitch off the back and find a new one, or is there a seat that will work for us. Any comments, suggestions would be gladly appreciated. :? Does anyone else have this problem? Before posting this question I did do a search to not appear completely ignorant. I would nominate that for the next QOTW And yes, you will find that others have/did have this same problem. I only ride one up, so I will obviosuly let them answer as I have never had a problem with it.
wib
Corbin seat with backrest! The stock seat is way to slippery. Same thing happened to me, the Corbin fixed the problem. I do a lot of 2 up riding now.
Amherst XX
There's also that stuff that they made for surfboards that you spray on. There is a local guy on a Z1000 that has it and when I took his bike out I quickly learned how much I move around in the seat and that this stuff won;t let you. That would keep your passenger put for sure. And it's be cheaper than a new Corbn or what-not.
Mikey
Go for a corbin. If you don't want to dump that much money into an unknown, wait until there is a "meet" in your area. Then ask someone with a corbin to try their seat on your bike.

When you're not braking she can still reach around and... :eyebrows:
Clinton Horn
I cannot respond to two-up as I ride alone most of the time. I am probably way too conservative for this bunch. I have a Blackbird that I have ridden bone stock for 3 years (15,000) miles. I wanted a better seat because as you have discovered, the stock seat is rather sad. The Corbin I got used was pretty disappointing at first. Mine is really firm and initially feels too hard. I delayed the purchase because of the expense. For me, it turned out to be a welcome relief. I think the Honda seats of 20 years ago were superior to the one that came on my bike. Some people get the set up they want right away. Others wait for the right time. If I had it to do over again. I would set the bike up with the screen, bars, springs, and seat that I wanted when I first got it. Some of these mods are basically a 0 return upon sale or actually hurt re-sale. If you keep the stock seat, you can sell the Corbin anytime. Course these bikes are getting pretty long in the tooth. I don't think accessories will hold the present values for a lot longer. The VFR bars & seat appear to be as good as cash. The people on this board are growing weary of Honda's reluctance to issue a new Blackbird and I predict many will trade in the next two years. I can enjoy this bike until I crash or get too old to throw a leg over. If you really appreciate the things this bike has to offer, get it like you want it and just try and wear it out. demon
I had the same problem till I bought a corbin GF/L with the backrest. The passenger portion on the corbin doesn't tilt down as much and she stays planted better. Northman had some type of removeable fabric on his rear seat for his little woman at NEXXT. It's an antislip type thing. Looked like it would work really good. You might try and get in contact with him about this fabric if you don't want to ante up and buy a new seat. lexxus
you could take your stock seat. to the ulpolster, and have him/her. cut the front of the seat,to fit you. then have him do. one or 2 things to the rear of the seat. for your girl. 1 cut about 6 slits in the pad cushion, from the point after.the seat is cut for you. which gives it more movement. 2 add a 1/4 to 1/2 ince of padding. with slits cut into it. i went with number 1. hav'nt had a complaint since. cost me 45$ and 30min. don't need corbin. i have been tring. to post a pic's of my bike. you can see ,how the seat look's. but having problems with the uploading. TimXX
I stopped in at Rick Mayer Cycle [off I5 in northern Cal] and he measured me sitting on the bike and made a seat for myself and my pillion that fit me [us]. This seat has gel in the center and different foam in different spots for comfort. I cna now ride for 7-8 hours a day without getting sore- my thighs were killing me on the stock seat after 3-4 hours. My wife doesn't slide into me unless I brake hard [and then she uses her arms for bracing]. Look at http://www.cbr1100xxforums.org/photos/disp...10172&pos=-1632 for a photo of my bike that shows the seat. Her big complaint now is the wind buffeting- the rear seat is a bit higher than the front. I must find a way to fix this.

XXBIRD
Sargent custom seat... if you wanna keep the GF. You can ask the profile of the seat is cut to fit your needs and riding style. Also, you could request a "V" shaped hump in the middle (bottom of the V pointing backwards) for the passenger which won't interfere with the comfort but proivdes additional supportto prevent sliding forward. They will know what you are talking about since they already done one for me already. It took a while to describe it but at the end, it worked out fine. It's cheaper than Corbin and looks much better IMHO. You don't have to wait six months neither. Search for the pics of mine if you care to see it. StPeteXX
+1 also have her reach around you and push back against the tank during braking to hold her in place. That's what my wife does. She's 5' and about 110 lbs. My "friend" before my wife was 6' and 135 lbs and that also workd for her. Both would either push against the tank under breaking. mrsquirrel
One of those single seat cowels and a business card holder of massage/escort ladies for the area you are travelling to should solve your problem. You have a good excuse to leave her behind and have a laugh at the weekend. Saying that though i am sure her indoors would try and sit on the single seat cowel if she thought I was off on a road trip again.

arcticflipper
I am in the same boat as you are, also short etc.... There are 2 options for you. 1. tell her to put her palms on the tank, and to support her own weight on her arms. This will help stopping the sliding effect, and also give her more confidence in corners etc. 2. Buy a strip of thick velcro, and stitch it to the seat. The other side you stitch to her pants and problem solved. She might have a bit of a struggle to get off the bike again. I have never had any problems with being short, and having a pillion rider slamming into me. You need to teach them what to do, where to hold onto etc. That's all folks.
