    tire quiz

The one on the left has a similar tread pattern to my Diablo Strada so I'm gonna say Z6.
  2. It looks like you were having an interesting photo day. Got any more pics of your friends to post?? No, I ran out of film just as the impromptu photo shoot was getting good. There is another shoot planned for later this weekend though. I'll keep you guys posted. What, exactly, is a good way to make my Bird "ugly?"
  3. I did mine in the "stealth" look you are talking about. No decals or badges, black stock pipes. I love it.
  4. Thanks for the tips guys. As for the air filter thing....how would the bike run without the air filter....would it be too lean...would there be a risk of damage? I have done some research into the Nitrous thing and it looks like I'll be staring down the barrel of about $500 to get setup. That IS alot just to win bragging rights. I would love to have a Nitrous system someday but not sure it's in the budget for this winter. That being said...if one of you Nitrous experts have the time have a look at this website and tell me what you think. Might be a cheaper way out but how much higher is the risk of engine damage? http://www.diy-nitrous.fsnet.co.uk/motorcy...tion-system.htm Thanks.
  5. Okay, so I've got a Dyno Day coming up in the spring and I was wondering if anyone had any "tricks" up their sleeves that'll help me eek out a certain ZX-12 owner that has been shooting his mouth off for quite some time. I was thinking of NOS but have no idea which application would be appropriate for a carbed XX. I thought there was something called a sneaky pete system that was concealed and good for one or two passes before needing refilled. Any help would be great. Not a big deal...it's a charity Dyno Day so the real winner is the Crohn's and Colitis foundation of Canada but I'd love to see the look on his face if I could best him
  6. I did mine over last winter. It washes fine. No problem with wear yet. I used 5 cans to do the whole thing. Three light coats. The more you do the deeper it looks...I just got impatient. As far as the prep work goes....you have to sand down your old paint and that can be a bitch. I did mine all by hand with increasing grit sandpaper ending with some insane wetsanding stuff that at the time I thought was overkill. You can kinda tell the ones that were done with it and the ones that weren't. Basically you want to prep everything the same. You can't cover as much with the paint as you'd think. What your plastic looks like before paint.....it'll look like after paint.....just darker
  7. Mine is done flat black. It looks awesome IMO. If you are gonna do it yourself my only advise to you is prep prep prep. The more time you spend prepping the surfaces the less time you'll have to spend painting and the better it'll turn out. I did mine with Krylon Fusion and it looks great for the price I spent.
  8. Mine ('97) was doing the same thing. I tore the bike apart last winter to paint it and such and once I put it back together it worked fine. I figure it was a loose connection in th eplug that connects the wiring harness to the guage cluster.
  9. Thanks man, that cleared it up. Good way to spend an afternoon...drinking and sync-ing carbs. I did my B-Bird, my father-in law's V45 Magna and my wife's FZ600. The Magna was the hardest by far. The Blackbird wasn't so bad once I knew where the screws were. Thanks for the prompt help. As always, you folks are as valuable a resource for technical info as you are for porn Cheers.
  10. Checked my carbs today (with a manometer). They are off by a significant margin. Now I need to find the adjustment screws for the #1, #2, and #4 carbs. The shop manual that I have (Honda) tells you how to adjust them but is very vague on their locations. Thanks
  11. You also might want to take the cover off of the brake resevoir. Takes the pressure off.
  12. Exactly...just be careful what you use if you use anything to hold the gasket in place...the guy that owned the gf's FZ600 used that "form-a-gasket" crap and it actually made the gasket crack. I had to replace that valve cover gasket last week and it's a pain to get the gasket situated without any "gouP" aid but well worth the bother. Honda designed the gaskets to seal so they should be left to do so unaided. IMO
  13. What year R1 r/r did you use? I want to have one on hand for when my r/r goes and was wondering which year R1'a to look for.
  14. Thanks guys...that's kinda what I thought.
