  1. So will it cut into the alum. swing arm, cases or do I just need to shorten the chain or think about a 15. I have a good deal on a 14 tooth and it will for sure be overkill in the city but then again I can allways start out of 2nd. All help is appreciated.
  2. I was thinking of purschasing a 14 tooth front spocket since in my city the speed limit is limited to 25 or 35mph. I know it would really wake the carbed bike up. It feels low on power driving so slow. Will I have to make any modifications other than chain size? I currently run a 16/46. Plan on keeping either a 45 stock or 46 rear sprocket.
  3. Thanks for all the help will be ordering in the morning.
  4. I have noticed a few different websites listing two different reg/rec for my year bird 1997. The current reg/rec on the bike only has one wiring harness. I would apreciate advise on the correct unit or part number if available? I also will be replacing the stator which has gone bad and the battery the main culprit for this problem. Is it a bad idea to upgrade the battery to a Yuasa YTX-14BS it has more cc amps and is only a little bit taller. Will the extra a.h. draw be an issue for the stock reg/rec and stator. All help and comments are highly appreciated. I miss my bird!!!! John Findley
  5. I am 6' 170pounds and girlfriend is 5'8'' 135. She can't stand riding on the back, because of the stock seat. I sit up near the gas tank because my arms aren't comfortable overly extended sitting back in the saddle. When she is riding on the back she ends up sliding forward sitting smack in the middle of the rise in the seat . This smashes my jewels into the tank not to mention cutting the circulation off to the Unit. I have tried riding back in the saddle to position her properly on the seat but it is very uncomfortable for me and not enjoyable to say the least. Do I dump the clutch at 8g pulling the front wheel and throw the bitch off the back and find a new one, or is there a seat that will work for us. Any comments, suggestions would be gladly appreciated. :? Does anyone else have this problem? Before posting this question I did do a search to not appear completely ignorant.
  6. 6'1'' 190 pounds Looking for a windshield that provides most windresistance and comfort yet does not stick up like a sore thumb 8) I understand your riding position, style, will dictate which screen you like best I hate to admit I sit rather upright but enjoy taking back roads at triple digit speeds
  7. Dad just bought a blackbird looking for a place to buy a carbon fiber tank guard that says cbr like my blackbird, it is in the shape of a Y
  8. correct throttle sleeve is not moving. Thanks for the help.
  9. Recently purschased 1100xx and cannot get the throttlemeister cruise control to work properly. The company says they only make one size friction sleeve ( the rubber fitting that goes over the bar). The friction sleeve that is currently in place is oversized for the bar and I have used electrical tape to take up the slack. :x Is there really only one size friction sleeve? Also with the friction sleeve secured in place the throttle still backs off and the friction sleeve is not moving. What is the proper way to shim the cruise control. Any help would be appreciated. The bike is a carbed 97 with a K&N filter, stock pipes and jets everymorning it has to be choked regardless if it is 100+ degrees is this normal or is there a lean-rich condition present should I be concerned. The altitude is 460ft less than where it was purchased.
