Chewtoy
1997 CBR1100XX Blackbird Candy Glory Red Galfer wave rotors (front) Brembo brake and clutch master Updated fork springs and spacers Nitron rear shock and spring set for ‘aggressive street’ HID headlight bulb shielded to avoid blinding oncoming traffic (forum member part) High beam HID as well. LED instrument panel, turn signal, and brake light bulbs. Michelin pilot sport tires. Corbin Saddle. Fresh oil every 3k miles. Last oil change on 8/16/23 at 73k miles I got this bike years ago as a police auction bike through eBay. Went through everything from front to back. This bike spent most of its life commuting on I-405 in Southern California from San Clemente to Irvine, with one notable stint in the bay area and a epic ride back down to SoCal. No accidents. A recent tip over in the garage scratched the mirror cover and right fairing. Some sun fading on the cowl and rail. All plastics are Honda. Just took here out to get a Texas inspection. Runs like a watch. Last valve check revealed zero needed adjustments. The motor is settled in and will likely outlast all of us. No leaks, some oil misting from the alternator cable where it exits the motor. It has some ‘patina’ from its age, but nothing dramatic. Get on and ride anywhere. Will throw in any spares I can dig out of boxes and will coordinate shipping and inspection if you’re not local to San Antonio, Texas. Hate to sell her, but it’s time. I’ve barely put 200 miles in it in the last 3 years. Chewtoy
Someone was asking after the lift table the blackbird is on. It's from HMC Industries, a US based company. I saw them @ the Aprilia dealer and they said they were a quality piece. This lifts the Blackbird with only 75# of air pressure. You can get cheaper, but a lift failure will endanger you, your bike, and other vehicles in the garage. Buying quality is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Also, I like to buy American when possible, https://www.hmcindustries.com/

I painted the gas tank - it's a 3 stage paint, and I did a workable job, but not show quality.

XXitanium
I forwarded this to a young friend who did eight years in the Marines. He said he was looking for a Hayabusa. I told him he was headed the wrong direction and that blackbird was a way to go.

XXitanium
I suggest you should edit your listing title to include Blackbird and CBR1100XX. I've shown it to a few people. That's a beautiful machine.

Chewtoy
She's gone. Buyer rented a pickup and drove to Texas from Virginia. Had no ramp, no tiedowns. I rolled the lift out to the driveway, raised the bike to the level of the bed, and we wheeled here in. Had a couple of tiedowns I could let him have and directed him to the nearby Harbor Freight to get some more. He had a bird a while ago, and is getting back to his old ways after a divorce. Nice guy, but still going through the "I'm free!" phase. I threw in all the spares I had. Plastics, switches, filters, a Micron exhaust system. Not going to bother selling that after this ordeal. I really thought that someone here would have gotten the bike to a friend, but that did not happen. Last word: Throw your leg over something more current. You'll be shocked. After getting my Aprilia Tuono and KTM Super Duke, the Blackbird was unrideable. Best to all.
