  1. +1 Working in a service department, I see most everyone that buys a new battery just installs the new battery without fully charging it first. Just buy it and drop it in and away they go. The memory is now set for the battery at a much lower level than it is capable of and will remain there for the life of the battery which will be considerable shorter. It is always best to trickle charge a brand new battery overnight before applying a load to it for the first time. I am currently trying my luck with the new lithium iron phosphate battery from BatteryStuff.com (Scorpion brand). After 4 months use it has been flawless and spins the engine over about twice as fast as my previous Yuasa. Much higher cranking amps and no battery tender needed. Only documented downside they have is the fact that they do not work well in cold environments. They say to turn the key and headlight on for a few seconds first to warm the battery up before hitting the starter button! Not a problem for me here in So Florida as we never experience a cold environment! The big difference is in weight or the lack there of. My new lithium weighs less than 2 lbs!!!
  2. I have a pair of the 4's on now but haven't got enough miles to determine if it is a noticable improvement for the increase in cost. I loved my 2's and then loved the improvement with the 3's and like the write up on the 4's. Great pricing deals on the left-over 3's right now. Once the 3's are all gone then the price should drop on the 4's, at least that is what happened in the past with the 2's when the 3's came out.

  4. wow that brings back fond memories! IXXRA (International XX Riders Association) became B.I.R.D (Blackbird International Riders Domain) That is who hosts the BlackBird Bash every year in Thetford, England and now run by Jaws (John). Anthony still owns the IXXRA domain name but no longer has anything to do with the BlackBird community that I know of. Jaws may have some data that you are looking for - his email is straightfour@aol.com
  5. So NOW I find out you were married to my EX!
  6. These are my everyday's that I wear daily during 9 hour shifts. Very comfy and over the ankle protection. Very very light weight. $99.99 Alpinestar BlackTops
  7. Does this issue still apply if using motorcycle specific oil such as Motul? Being in south Florida I generally run either 15/50 or 20/50 due to the all year high heat index In your opinion should I be adding the ZDDP in my BlackBird with Motul Oil?
  8. ZX12 I have the gold anodized on my Red Bird
  9. order oem and be done with it for another 99k
  10. I agree with Mike. The Bird has a unique design that works great with the needed cut-offs for HID. I have HID both high and low beam and looking to possibly go to LED for the High Beam to eliminate the delay when lighting up the high beam. I saw some very bright LED's on a bike about a week ago that were instant on. They looked almost as bright as the HID's.
  11. My stinger has worked flawlessly and now have put away the trickle charger as it is no longer needed The engine turn over rate when starting is incredibly fast Thought the box was empty when the mail lady delivered the Stinger to me!
  12. It goes on top of the shock and under the frame, right in front of the battery box. loosen nut on the top of the shock from above, lift tail of bike, insert spacer, tighten nut Pretty cheap and easy task that will make you say WOW the next corner you come to! http://www.bikebits.us/store.php?CategoryID=15 My biased source for said Spacer!

Available for the all models and all years in gold, black or silver. For the Carb models In gold £39.95 In silver £44.95 In black £44.95 For the EFI models In gold £44.95 In silver £49.95 In black £44.95 ( postage rate 5 ) http://www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk/bird2.htm#grills
  14. Mine went out on Monday from a Saturday order and was delivered via Priority Mail in 2 days. I got the box on my porch and when I picked it up I thought they had mailed me an empty box! It came with a plastic clip on bottom piece to make the battery tall enough to fit in the Bird! So far so good. No more tender and it sure spins the engine fast on start up.

  18. Your ability to set goals and then accomplish them is impressive. You are a great example to your family as well as to us here on the .org You have accomplished an amazing amount in a very short time span.
  19. There are a couple people heading to Florida in March that are a lot closer to MN than PA!
  20. Don, You really should sign up and get the ZX-XX down to RacerXX !
  21. Nice jacket at a great price but not the right size for me. It appears to be a Joe Rocket brand.
  22. You should be able to polish out the clear lenses and return it to original clear appearance. As the saying goes; "It will buff right out"
  23. If you can bring a pair of Fronts to RacerXX I will put them on the shelf for whoever may need a set in the future.
