The ranger encounter had a few funnies. I first saw them on a trail that would go past our camp about 200' away, they were on quads doing their normal patrol. The first guy glanced to the right where we were parked, turned his head back, then snapped right again and slammed his brakes, the one following almost rear-ended him. I'm standing behind the motorhome where we have an electric kid's dirtbike, a real dirtbike, and two shotguns, none of which are registered. A few feet away are three beached seadoos and a Jet Ski, my friend is riding the 4th Seadoo, they might have been registered. It's then that I notice he's is riding without a PFD...fuck. After getting past the "how'd you get that motorhome in here" his next question was "are you shooting our signs?" No, that's retarded, we're shooting clays and our empty cans. Evidence of both were on the ground next to the guns and ammo. Ok. Is that dirtbike registered? No. Ok, it shouldn't even be on the ground, but you won't get in trouble as long as you don't ride it. Too late, I rode it to the top of that hill yesterday so I could get cell service to call in the fire a fire on the other hill behind it. Oh, thank you, that could have been a bad one....but don't ride it again. Ok. Can the little girl ride her electric one? Well, I think it needs to be registered, not sure, I can't tell you that it's ok to ride, but none of us would cite her. And please tell your friend to put on a life jacket. I don't have jurisdiction to cite him, but I hate pulling dead bodies out of the lake. Shooting, riding, fishing, and camping for free in So.Cal.....Sometimes it feels like we live in America.

Leaving a BLM camp in the Tioga I couldn't climb the last hill to get out, I knew ahead of time that it was a potential problem. What I hadn't considered is how useless the rear brakes would be and the fronts just dragged unless I also power-braked. Right before the hill turned extra steep was a bump that wouldn't let me get a running start without ripping off the tank drains and taking a different line put it on 3 wheels at a scary tilt. And that's why I had my friend lead on the way out, a little pull got it past the super steep part, then I was able to motor the rest of the way. The off-roading was on the mild side, but for a motorhome it was a black diamond trail. There were a few abandoned rolled vehicles scattered about the trail. The rangers that stumbled across us while camped were convinced that I'd come in though one of their locked gates, "there is no way you came in the legal way." That's when my passenger walked into the conversation and asked them what the easy way out was, "being on 3 wheels around that last bend scared the shit out of me." I had to powerbrake in reverse to augment the rear brakes on a nasty off-camber drop. I was fine with it, my friend shat himself, his very young daughter was yaahoooing it. We had a great weekend, worth every bit of it.

The clip looks excessively thick and looks to have a huge amount of open space for a belt. Seems like it should have been printed flat instead of with the stand-off where the screws are.

Adding a switch in a more convenient place might be easy. What bugs me more often than the shift programming is the torque converter clutch programming so I've added a switch on several vehicles so I could manually lock it.

Curious if you've solved the problems and what it took.

And if it took 10.0003 seconds he'd remind you that he had identified a potential flaw in the design.

The best phone mount/charger ever; fast with active cooling

It is, if you're on the right side of it. The other side gets hot as hell. -
Almost as timeless as a Bird.

Retard alert: the center hole in the one you gave me didn't exist to me 'till I saw that photo. So much so that I had to go look at it to see if mine has a center hole, yup. I guess my brain automatically saw it as a six shooter cylinder, nothing you can use the center hole for. I had a seventh thing I wanted in it and had to choose which one to put in, problem now solved. The mind works in mysterious ways.

Ceramic coating the bowl seems like a hassle so I've taken to sipping a bit of it before bed, my poops are now slicker than shit.

If it's not VIN locked you could sell it. The only one I've dealt with 'unlocked' itself when the vehicle was returned to stock tune.

Elegoo black ordered, I have a couple things I want to make.

I was going to ask Carlos directly, then figured it might help others to do it here. Are there 'go-to' or 'stay away from' filament brands? I'm mostly looking at single color PLA, but might want to try TPU. Suddenly I have a new question: is there any inherent advantage to different colors, like being more durable or better flowing? I lean toward using Amazon for the ease, but I'll go other routes if it makes sense. I want something that just works reliably, cheap is a bonus, but I think I won't print a lot so I don't mind paying more if it's warranted. It's just fucking plastic, how could you fuck this up? ...so my gut says that there's probably some horrible shit, many that are perfectly fine, and maybe some premium shit with a massive price hike for some tiny advantage. And now I'll stop speculating and wait for the right answer 🙂

Worst case scen But yea, it should be safe to use as a gauge cluster. There are other cheap options, I use a tablet and Torque Pro which can be set up for many different vehicles.

Tell me you're gay without telling me you're gay. 😇

I can barely slip a bicycle into the garage, and wouldn't have room to work on it. I've been wanting to build a shed along the wall of the garage and move the machinery into it, maybe some day. The only person I know who knows how to do it who I could probably trust wants to build it to 'house standards' which would be quite spendy even at a buddy price.

And it's fairly small, should be able to do the whole thing without getting tired.

The title showed up a few days ago, but the rain hasn't let up long enough to get it out to the driveway to clean it up and take photos. I have to roll it backwards through a muddy area, it'll probably take two people to pull it off. Since the weather's been shitty I've been working on indoor stuff, one project was getting the front room re-organized so I can bring the chopper in and be able to work on it when it's cold/raining out. Moving it and the lift will be at least a 2 man operation.

I tried searching for it and can't find it. Maybe someone with better skillz can.

I think I piggybacked on the thread Carlos had started about it. Pretty sure 1972 R5 was in the title. After trying a few things I settled on very fine steel wool and oil. Being a 2 stroke I had to use castor oil, you'll have to use Italian olive oil. Where the rust was really thick I first scraped it off, probably with a screwdriver.

Some neglected chrome will clean up surprisingly well. "Everyone" says that the chrome on 70's Jap bikes is junk, yet the R5 cleaned up pretty well considering how bad it was. There are chrome paints that supposedly look very close to the real thing. I don't know if any of the cans of spray chrome paint qualify, I haven't tried any in decades, but everyone says they've come a long way. "Pro grade" chrome paints are said to be very good.

Another first world problem solved with Chinesium and a 3D printer

Too slow, use one of your Dewalt drivers. -
I hadn't thought of it, but yea, seems to be a thing...but not really. The 6.4 Ford was destined to blow up, it's what they do and I was surprised it went as long as it did. The Chevy he had before that I think had a billion miles so it's natural that it would have problems.

If you get a chance, and fucks to give, check and clear the computer before you shut it off. I'm curious to know if it'll still flag the code at startup or if it'll take another start/run cycle to set. I'm also curious to know if it'll have a pending code for the cat or if the hole 'cured' it.
