OK, this is what I have. If you are not proud, I have a set of SW Moto racks (for side bags and top case) and a set of Givi hard cases. This is a frankenmix from 2 different bikes. I have thousands of miles on the racks, the cases came with my latest bird. I already had Givis, so don’t need the cases. They have maybe 60 K on them (How about it, Zero, do you know?) I can take pictures next week sometime, but they have been in the barn for maybe 2 years and are dusty. You could ride up here, we could install, and you could fide home with them. I will even include a night in Gatlinburg at your expense. I don’t know what they are worth, but will sell them for less than that. I will be honest, though. The racks are rock solid but in my opinion they look like shit on the bike with no cases. And I call them SW Moto, they may be something else. I bought them from Cameoto in Deetroit a long time ago.

WTB 2000 or later titanium or redbird pref
RXX replied to KenNcDoD's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
I am heading out in 2 weeks for a good 5K mile tour on a 99 with 107K on in. Have another one in the barn with 78 K. No valve adjustments ever. Do not fear the high mileage bird if it is in reasonably good shape. -
extended swing arm ""price drop $400""
RXX replied to bigtwan251975's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
HEY! I just pulled a rear wheel out of my barn that has a 2009 tire on it, so it can happen. Guess I need to get a new one, but tread looks good. BTW, hope he does still have it. Bet the price has dropped again. -
Nope. They are all disposable, and in their penultimate state. Well, more probably antepenultimate. Those on the floor are the penultimate.

This may turn into an oil thread. The masks, excepting N95’s, according to many in the field, are designed to protect OTHERS, not the wearer. I have been wearing masks as part of my PPE for decades, and have skin in the game. If he wants protection for him, true N95’s, worn with great discipline is what he needs. Fashion be damned. I wear masks to maintain the sterility of the products I make, not protect me from the products. We have a handful of respirators available to protect us from the rare volatilization of certain radioactive products in an emergency. They, like N95’s, are designed to protect the user. If he is wearing for common sense/organizational fiat, best bet is to buy a box or two of disposable paper masks with elastic bands and keep a handful of them in different places. They can be reused with diminishing effectiveness until the Skoal stains become unbearable. Can almost guarantee you a man of your son’s size will be constantly chaffed by the inflexible ear straps on most of the cloth fashion masks.

1999 Honda CBR1100XX - $2,500 OBO
RXX replied to Zero Knievel's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
Man, you don’t want my bike. I have put 10,000 more miles on it, and finally took the front plastics off to fix a headlight. Not only did I not fix the headlight, I had a handful, of fasteners left over when I finished. Goddamn I hate taking that shit off. Well, putting it back on, really. Taking them off is easy. -
How did you lower your bike? I am interested.

Remember that nail you picked up on the twisted sisters? What happened there? I forget..... Anyway, N. Dread, there is a plug tool set, John01XX may sell them, I forget what they are called, but they are fucking amazing. I rode something like 1500 miles on one out west once. I keep one on my bike and one in my MINI.

Will you be commuting on the bike? Patch and ride. Serious miles touring or aggressive stuff! Replace. You will be thinking about that patch every 10 seconds if you are hundreds of miles from home or are raising hell in curves. I have ridden about as much as anybody on a plugged rear tire, and it was on my mind constantly. I have ridden down a blow out on a rear tire, but am pretty sure I would not have been so lucky with a front blowout. But then again, I saw a guy burst front and rear simultaneously and did not drop the bike. Of course it was a BMW.

You should rethink your position. I have a ‘99 with 84k and bought Zero’s with what? 97-98K on it? Promptly put new tires on it, have ridden maybe 8,000 miles with 0 (zero) shit done to it. That is AFTER all the dumb shit he did to it. (Sorry, Mike. Prove me wrong) I am about the most worthless mechanic on this board and can’t fix shit the first time around. The bird is bullet-proof.

Warning about the Harbor Freight 1.5 ton racing jack
RXX replied to superhawk996's topic in The Garage
Well, there’s this also...... the wheel is off the car anyway, right? You don’t want it rolling off or anything, and if you are not using it already as a seat, it has to go somewhere. Why not under the vehicle, out of the way? -

Well, using jack stands, like leathers or gloves, is relative of course. Use a jack alone on anything you are willing to crawl under and have fall on you. Pretty simple. Never go faster on your bike than you are willing to slide. Never parasail higher than you are willing to fall. Stuff like that. -

What, it’s a jack, right? Aren’t you supposed to jack shit up, place stands underneath and lowering the vehicle onto the stands? I have one like that and I appreciate how light it is. -
