  1. I've heard many cops say that if they can't find a violation on someone that they're not trying, luckily they usually only try when they've already profiled someone as looking like a criminal. Our local LEOs give almost no fucks about traffic infractions. On the rare occasion that I see them on a traffic stop it's never a 'normal' stop...occupants out, car search, handcuffs, etc. The occupants are always a darker shade of brown than I, except for the occasional crackhead looking white ones.
  2. So the law requires proper plate lighting, but also states that it's unenforceable? What other trailer requirements fall into this non-enforcement thing? And is this actually written law, or just something you've heard or assume that a cop would ignore? I've pretty well proven that CA cops don't care about trailer license plates at all, I've done thousands of miles without one on any of my trailers. But I won't tow one that's actually unregistered because it would be my luck that that's when I'll find the no-leniency cop that cites me and impounds my trailer.
  3. Well hell, it's a bummer that nobody predicted these problems and that they didn't suggest the solution before you went through the trouble of trying to do it your way. I find it extraordinarily hard to believe that Virginia cops can't stop someone for an equipment violation.
  4. From my understanding, Tags don't hold value or appreciate like Rolex and some other brands, but some vintage ones might bring decent money.
  5. The metal rings aren't a bad idea for the straps, but they're often a bad idea for use with a bike. One of you has issues with strapping his bike, one does not; one of you understands how things work. I've never seen or heard of a hook cutting through a soft strap and have never been worried about it happening. The hooks on one set of straps you showed had hard edges which isn't ideal for a soft loop, but even those would be very unlikely to cut them.
  6. It's funny that Zero keeps arguing about how bad the metal to fabric interface is when it's a tie down hook against the fabric, but is perfectly ok with that interface if the metal was installed on the fabric by a Professional. I give him cudos to some degree for bowing down, but it's a shame that he can't accept that people have done millions of miles with steel hooks on fabric loops.
  7. But you specifically asked for advice, not an opinion on the quality of the product. Adding to what's been said, the locking hooks of that overpriced strap set won't let you use them with small rings/anchor points so make sure they'll fit what you bought before buying them.
  8. Not a single one of the simple proven systems will work for Zero. He must use 57 straps in all the wrong places to add up to something that might work.
  9. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'll heed the warning. You know it's bad when a swampnut is offended by sweaty ball smell. I think the only times we've cooked it indoors was slow cooking in a Crock pot, turns out you can cook other animals in one, probably even alligator. Turning left overs into chili typically makes no buffalo smell, probably because it was already cooked. Cooking short ribs in the crockpot made just a hint of buffalo swampynuts.
  10. I checked out your PDF...good luck. Curious; what brand of moly grease is that? I've never seen one that wasn't black/very dark grey.
  11. Ahhh, you must be new here.
  12. I got curious so I did some googling, it seems to be as bad as I was guessing. A few people with late model half ton trucks getting around 20-22 mpg dropped to 14-16 pulling an empty trailer with the mesh ramp. Another guy that tows one full time full of gardening equipment emptied it one day to go get something. He figured he'd pick up a few MPG by getting rid of the weight, he lost 2MPG. Many people cut/modify the hinges so they can take it off and put it in the trailer while driving. I've seen a couple that were hinged in the middle to reduce the height when closed. Having the bike on should help a little vs. empty. Using a smaller truck should make it worse than a full-size.
  13. So do most LED headlight conversions that don't work for shit.
  14. Says the guy that won't drive his Prius into town unless he really has to because he doesn't want to waste the gas. If you know your truck's usual MPG, please report back how much it drops, I'm curious. The mesh is open enough that maybe it won't make a big difference, but I suspect that it'll be noticeable at highway speed. Possibly enough to feel it in the amount of throttle needed to keep speed.
  15. Did your yard/storage ability change? Who are you going to hire to tell you where and how to mount them?
  16. White LEDs have problems with red lenses, shoulda bought red LEDs. It'll take a shitload more lumens to equal the brightness of the stock bulbs and the color won't be a proper red. The ideal solution is to buy LED taillamp assemblies, they're way better because the LEDs are aimed where they need to be so you get much better illumination with a lot less power. While power consumption might seem to be a non-issue, low power lights make up for the shitty connections that often occur with trailers. They also play better with turn signal flasher units that don't like additional loads. An anchor can only be as strong as the installation, this should be fun to watch. It would be interesting to know how much wind drag that wall/loading ramp creates at highway speed.
  17. IIRC he had something similar and sold it because they're no good, then started on his mission of failed attempts to transport his bike different ways. The bike trailer is probably way better than his for bike transport, but somehow he apparently thinks that this will solve his inability to strap the bike down properly. Yea, cargo trailers are way better for motorcycle transport than motorcycle trailers are. I wonder how many more straps he'll need now that he's putting it on something with no chock or rail to hold the tires in place. Then I wonder how long before he asks why his towing gas mileage was suddenly cut in half just from switching trailers ๐Ÿ˜‚
  18. A woman on Next-door claimed that her neighbor was pumping poison gas into her house, many believed it. About a week later she posted about all the EMF and whatever that was attacking her, she backed her claim with meter readings. I told her that she could probably solve both problems with the assistance of a mental health provider. I'M NoT cRaZy!!!! Yea, ok.
  19. It's just a thing some stranger made that I ran across on the inter web somewhere...but yea, maybe better to not.
  20. Or snake shot. That relates to a rat trap I meant to post about, then forgot.
  21. I felt like I was porked for mounting the tires for the R5 at $40each. Their reason was that if they damaged my tubes they'd be on the hook to replace them.
  22. Full throttle. If you crash you won't even need to ice the wounds, they showed up to the roadrash party pre-chilled.
  23. That sumonabitch. I've heard that wintergreen oil is a good rodent deterrent, then you'll have some around when you need to rehab some old rubber parts.
