  1. Strange that the voltage drops, but since it holds with a load I guess it doesn't matter. If you're looking to replace it because you think you need more than 13.7, don't bother. If you're doing it because the drop has you thinking it's defective, I'd first test to see if the drop is coming from the stator. I don't have a brand suggestion, but if I needed a new one I'd probably go with a series regulator instead.
  2. Since they'll get little use, buy whatever's cheapest. The batteries will probably shit out long before anything wears out on the trimmer, especially if they don't get some maintenance between uses. I shouldn't ask, but gotta; how did you manage to dull out two trimmers only being used once or twice a year? I have a corded one that's around 30 years old that still seems to work fine, might be dull, don't know or care since it still works. I have a Craftsman cordless that's relatively new and it bogs down and stalls easily, especially with the smaller 'standard' size batteries. Consider sharpening the ones you have yourself. I'm sure there's tutorials on line.
  3. Build a retaining wall to level the yard....I don't get it.
  4. I'm guessing, since I don't know the technology, that the boost in signal will let a smart or flip make calls and the '3G or better' is just so that the smart phone can get internet service which it shouldn't need in the house since you have wifi.
  5. As usual, this will be discussed to death and nothing will come of it, but this time it'll be to his mom's death.
  6. I was being sarcastic, I thought it would become evident when I said "throw that bitch in the mailbox, as in, send it to me so I'll have a free jack. I guess my whit was dull. Adding oil should pose no danger. You could probably use just about anything, but using jack oil will remove doubt. With the jack lowered you fill to the plug and done. If it got really low and you pumped air into the ram; raise it, lower it, and top off. If the leaks are big, like it's dripping, then pitch it or maybe reseal it. If it's just wet, refill it. I have a couple really old jacks that have been leaking for years, I top them off here & there. The fill hole should be on the vertical part at or above the middle. It's usually a rubber plug you just pull out, sometimes it's a threaded plug.
  7. NEVER EVER make any attempt to fix a jack! The moment it does anything questionable throw that bitch straight into the mail box and I'll make sure it doesn't get a chance to hurt someone. That plug that everyone on the planet, including the manufacturer, says is for adding oil; NEVER TOUCH IT! It's a trap! It's the Chinks way of taking us out one DIYer at a time 'till the US is comprised of nothing but useless dependent idiots buying their latest junk.
  8. A torch would be quicker and quieter, but running it would put some heat into it.
  9. Some of their tools are lifetime warrantee, if this is one of those they should still take it back and give you the deposit. I'm guessing the tool wasn't fully inserted when you were expanding, or it was in an uneven diameter or curved section of pipe.(?) Bike pipes are thin, but they give me the impression that they're probably tougher than they look. I have a set of those expanders and haven't broken one yet, but I don't them much.
  10. Any forks can be with the right mods, but I don't know the answer you probably want.
  11. With the 18t the bike is probably going faster than what the speedo reads, and farther than the odometer reads, so your actual MPG is probably higher than calculated.
  12. I had an '01 for a few years and never detected a flat spot anywhere, but Swamp says he noticed it.
  13. Using GPS or the bike's odometer?
  14. Any particular reason you're opposed to a carbed Bird or earlier FI years?
  15. A few guys here run a lean cruise tune and report increased MPG. I'm guessing you could lean it to the point of misfire without any engine damage. Someone may come along with a tune they use so you don't have to experiment.
  16. Maybe the sprockets are miss-aligned, either because the wheel isn't straight or a sprocket has the wrong offset. Or the chain is too tight, or lacking lube. I can hear when mine is starting to get thirsty.
  17. Yup. The first step is usually stiffer front springs matched to the rider's weight, sometimes combined with a fork oil change, I think 7.5wt is the go-to. Then fork valving mods. A stiffer rear spring for heavier riders or people carrying cargo or a passenger frequently. Then revalve or replace the rear shock. A few have gone crazy with inverted forks and other cool stuff.
  18. A sledge hammer is much faster. 😁
  19. Just to be clear, it didn't become a dog at low end and I never felt the need to slip the clutch more or do anything obviously different while riding, but doing back to back runs from low RPM up an onramp I was able to feel the change. Somewhere around here is a post about the test back when it was fresher in my mind. I like the look & sound of duals more than a single and while I liked the performance and the fun sound of a sporty exhaust, I also like being able to blast in the stealthier mode so I went back to stock and sold the Yosh. My current Bird has Two Brothers slip-ons and the noise level is about on par with the Yosh, but being dual I'm not as inclined to want to go stock. Plus they look great with the other mods on the bike.
  20. I can answer some of your questions and give you an idea of what you can expect. On my '01 I went from all stock exhaust to a Yosh 4-1, and back to stock, the only mod on the bike was a K&N filter. With the Yosh it lost low RPM power to around 4k, then above 6k it gained more than I thought it would. It wasn't crazy loud, no more than any other sport bike with a full length performance muffler. Slip-on mufflers with the stock header would theoretically add some high end power without loosing low end like the Yosh did. My current BB is a '97 with slip-ons and altho I never did a back to back test with the other bike my gut says that the theory on slip-ons is probably accurate. The weight of the whole Yosh system was about equal to one stock muffler. The two slip-on mufflers I have now probably weigh less than one stocker.
  21. Is that Bigfoot or just a blurry biker?
  22. Where is this offender and what does it look like?
  23. I have a Penske in the garage that I need to rebuild and put on, been fucking it off for far too long.
  24. In case I was unclear, that three orange wire connection or somewhere between it and the front bulb base is where the problem is. Quite often I find the bulb base to be the problem so don't over look that, even if it looks ok. Sometimes the contact sinks into the spring loaded disc that presses against the bulb. Sometimes the disc jets stuck and doesn't press both contacts onto the bulb contacts. Sometimes the wire breaks right behind the disc.
