The clunk on an old slow carb bird must be ludicrous, because it's annoying as fuck in the one with the anti-clunk. One of the things I noticed when I rode mine to the buyer's place, because I'd ridden the KTM the day before and its transmission is so much smoother.

Looking for a sprocket by dimensions...any suggestions?
SwampNut replied to rockmeupto125's topic in The Garage
Also, the center could be larger and still work right? Isn't all the load on the bolts anyway? And it would not be expensive to have one with a smaller hole machined out. I had some wheels with too-small center holes cut at a machine shop for under $20 per. Ooooh... https://duckduckgo.com/?q=blank+sprocket&atb=v270-1&ia=web -

Isn't your sex swing made of ropes? -

Sex swings use pulleys, not sprockets. -
Boats are a great place to find aftermarket parts out for everyone to see.
-
Sometimes the aftermarket ones are bigger, and can take more power. Sometimes they're not as good. Really depends on how you ride it.
-
The carb ones clearly must run hotter since they draw in hot intake air, and every Professional®™ knows that's the key to engine operation. In fact, not sure why any carbed XXs are even still running at all.

Meh, meandering threads about mechanical things is a fun part of life. Probably, because I see an oil cooler air duct piece for the carb bikes, but not the FI bikes (with minimal, casual search for parts).

They don't have "ram" air, but pretty sure they have nozzles that reach into the fairing holes, no? I don't think I've every seen a naked carb bird. But otherwise, I assume that in one of the ignored messages above Tomek proved why all boat engines are destroyed shortly after warmup, on every boat ever made? Dude's never been wrong, so be careful. Back to the OP, I think the best answer is just to not fuck with it. I can see no good coming of it, and probably no bad, so net zero.

He's probably arguing with himself as usual, and just not understanding the posts made by others. Pretty much all of the "you're stupid" posts he's directed at everyone included a misunderstanding mixed with the overwhelming need to be 'right" and prove something. Even when nobody is wrong or even making an argument, he needs to make sure someone is. Lower intake air temp helps keep oil, metal, and water cooler; lower oil temp helps the others keep cooler, etc. So it's what you said, and energy is energy. No matter where you are exchanging it, the net heat still has to be removed somewhere. Compromises.
-
Don't try to make sense of his ramblings. The next thing you know you wake up in the ER, with blood dripping from your ear, and a nurse asking, "What were you thinking about??"
-
Homo. But yeah, what Oscar said. Energy exchange is going to happen one way or the other. And even riding in AZ heat has never turned my oil dark or made it smell bad, so it's clearly not being baked. On other vehicles with hotter-running oil, there's a distinct smell change.

It's funny, before reading this latest post I was thinking, "Does mike know about the reputation of the Conti Road Attacks?" I have no direct experience with them, but heard great things from high-mile sporty riders. Utah...you gonna be in AZ at all?
-
Hah, don't recall that, but probably. I was ready to be there, and held back. Dude had also asked me if we were close, and done riding for the day, when we got to ALPINE AZ! Had never ridden him before (and I'm sure I don't have to say, since then either). I know to ask a Gold Wing rider if we're going to stick to speed limits, never thought to interview a XX rider. He crashed on the way back because we were doing about 8 over and he saw a cop, locked up the front RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COP. The cop later asked WTF and said he had no care what our speed was in the middle of nowhere.

When you're courting your sister, an hour seems like a second. When your dad catches you, a second feels like an hour. That's Alabama relativity.
-
That's your theory.

"I only do 5 over." --Copernicus For any who don't remember, I rode to Cody with a guy who wanted to stay less than five over, and really really would be against doing 10 over in the middle of nowhere. I'm talking Devil's Highway middle of nowhere. That was a long trip.

It was sold, not to me.

Tall/slim women's riding pants like new
SwampNut replied to SwampNut's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
Hah, ok, all posts unhidden, fair enough. She used these on the K1200RS as both driver and passenger, on the XX as passenger, and they did give good coverage down to low-mid height boots (over ankle but not tall sport boots). At two inches taller, it probably is not a big thing. Oh, and Moriah is all leg, 32" inseam. So a person of more normal proportions, which would be about 30" inseam for 5'9" should be good. Try measuring her normal everyday jeans for leg length. I measured down the side seam. Remarkably sane. And that's not a dig on YOU but the fact that most people cannot employ such sanity. For a few years, I lived with a girlfriend and ex-girlfriend. I can have her hop on the KTM with them on, but sold the XX this past weekend. -
He says someone from out of town will get it Friday. Ah well, I have little time before Saturday, and I was only slightly wanting it.

I know where to get *A* trailer. The question was about getting one that isn't total junk. They have mostly given me the latter.
-
How about $80 shipped? As always I'm flexible if people think the price is not fair. Speed & Strength women's XS, removable liner, waterproof pocket zippers, 3/4" length leg zippers, great adjustment on cuffs. She's 5'7" and 115 and said they fit "perfectly" with light shorts underneath and liner on. Or with pants and no liner. Her idea of a perfect fit is to be comfortably loose, but not need a belt. There are huge vent zippers, like one going from each thigh across the back for real flow. Inside waist flat and straight across measures 14.5" and waist to leg end is 43". Great shape and light usage. With our weather they were warmer than needed and she mostly used the Kevlar jeans instead.

Yeah, we rode together 20 years ago. Tips on getting a rental trailer that doesn't suck?
