  1. I don't know the details, but if you own these cars, check for recalls and TSBs. I've been told that not all affected models are recalled, and Hyundai is claiming that "thermal events" are not common. LOL. A temp fix is to pull the trailer fuse. All of the above is from normally credible sources but I didn't research it as I don't own one.
  2. Potassium is easy. Throw out your container of sodium salt. Buy a container of "No Salt" potassium chloride. Look at the canned foods on the lower shelves from non-mainstream brands, where you will find no-salt or low-salt options. PLUS!! Most of the name brands have a shitload of water in the can, where low-cost brands like Sprouts are not only salt free, they are packed with product all the way to the top. Beans and garlic...yum. Quinoa, one of their recommendations, is not super palatable for some people. BUT...mix about 1/3 quinoa with 2/3 rice of various types and it's great. It's actually better than just rice. Cook on the "brown" setting in your rice maker or Instant Pot. Toasted walnuts are excellent on a salad, on non-dairy yogurt, etc.
  3. My doctor said to look at the menus from Waffle House, Denny's, Texas Roadhouse, and Dominos, and remove all that from your intake. Done. The huge beet juice statistic is wild. I wonder what it tastes like.
  4. Piggybacking here on goals and food. Many years ago my A1C had gone over 6. Doctor said to get it to 5.5. Moderation is the key to failure so I want 5. This is all by cutting out processed foods, animals, salt, and oil. I am not particularly restricting carbs all around but do try to minimize junk white carbs. The old wisdom was to cut them all out, it turns out that other garbage besides sugar fucks up your glycemic response, including salt and oil. As a simplistic explanation, A1C is the damage done by high blood sugar over time, not your "now" blood sugar which is very transient. I have a relative whose blood sugar is always just barely high when he tests it in the morning. He never tests after the half tub of ice cream and loaf of bread. His A1C is 7+ and he's in bad shape.
  5. There is pretty credible evidence that even 12-16 hour fasting can really help a lot. I try to eat by 7pm, and almost never eat before 11am, but try to push it to noon. There's also a matter of what you eat; a lot of animal products and sugars will kill this process. And inflammatory agents like processed oils and salt will also slow/stop autophagy.
  6. Well fuck, the time got hosed, so now a few posts from this morning will be out of order. I don't think I can fix that retroactively.
  7. We have a dwarf version of this in a pot. They are so good, even with it being first year production. Now I kinda wish we'd made a space for a full size version, had to do with just three ready today. It's an AZ-hardy plant grafted with a super-sweet medium orange. The scent of sweet orange blossoms in the air and one bite of sweet and juicy Arizona oranges is one of life’s simple pleasures that can brighten our day. These orange trees can also brighten up our yards. Citrus sinensis ‘Sweet Orange’ trees can also produce medium-sized oranges with bright orange flesh that contrasts beautifully with their green foliage. You know what else is sweet? Arizona Sweet Orange trees thrive in our area! Why People are Eating Up Arizona Sweet Oranges Yes, these are the delicious multi-purpose Arizona oranges that we love, the ones that are easy to grow with a low seed count (if any). We like to use them for juicing, cooking, in cocktails, in beers, or as a healthy snack that we can eat freshly-picked off the tree. No doubt about it, the Arizona Sweet Orange is a sweet choice for our taste buds as well as for adding vibrant color to our arid environment. They can also be used to create shade, which in Arizona is always welcome. We also like to plant a few of them in rows, where they can act as a living hedge that can block unwanted views! Anyone can find an Arizona Sweet Orange Tree for sale at Moon Valley Nurseries. Perhaps you have been asking yourself when to plant orange trees in Arizona? The short answer is right now! These Arizona oranges are easy to peel, and we have developed a custom rootstock so that they are guaranteed to produce excellent tasting fruit and a plentiful harvest. How to Care for an Arizona Sweet Orange Tree This orange tree is easy to grow, and they have a small to medium size which makes them an excellent choice for any size yard. Arizonians can grow these orange trees and enjoy some of the fullest-flavored sweet oranges in the U.S.! Light: These sweet oranges do best when growing in a location that receives more than 8 hours of direct sunlight. Watering: You will want to water about two feet into the soil. If you have a newly planted tree, increase the depth of watering every year until established for three years. Water deeply and be sure to allow the soil to dry between watering. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early March, late May, and in the middle of September with Moon Valley Nurseries fertilizers, such as Moon Juice. Do not fertilize newly planted trees the first year they are on the ground. If you prefer to use organic fertilizers such as fish emulsion or cured compost, we recommend applying monthly in spring and summer. READ MORE ABOUT CITRUS AND FRUIT TREES Good News! You can purchase these sweet orange trees at their fruit producing age! At Moon Valley Nurseries, we have been growing our citrus for decades. We make it easy to eat healthier with the juiciest, sweetest, homegrown fruit!
  8. At 7:16am AZ time, there was a problem with hardware. Auto-migration started, but took longer than it should. We're now on new hardware. Nothing lost, even your login state should be preserved. Up at 8:57am.
  9. You just pull that clear top tray out with the strainer and juicer cone. Put in the sink, rinse. Tap the strainer against the sink side to loosen pulp. Put in drainer.
  10. I think we had a juicer conversation long ago, about not using it. I had a high end Breville that could juice a concrete block. Too much work as you said. Sold it. I really looked a lot before deciding on this on, and I went with the most powerful one. I paid $100, fuckers dropped the price. Do it. This takes 45 seconds to clean. It is not small. I'm not sure what I will do for counter space. The entire kitchen is due for a clean up/throw out of things I don't use. I'll want it out for the harvest season, and probably put away for the rest of the year. Though in AZ, sometimes trees learn to produce all year.
  11. That's what our grapefruits look like. Rio red, and fed a diet of extreme nutrients from the hydroponic weed grow. If you told me they have sugar added, I'd believe you. And now I want some grapefruit juice. I picked up the highest-power version of this juicer. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0962V1BKS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 I know, whole fruit is way healthier. I'm too lazy. But, this machine is so powerful, and our grapefruits are so soft, that it grinds about half the pulp into juice itself. You end up with a thicker-feeling juice kind of like a nectar, but not that thick. It's awesome. This is the little leftover in the bin from two glasses worth.
  12. I don't really recall exactly how I came up with this, but I've been doing it for years with refried beans. It makes them have the texture of larded beans without making them trash. More recently, I've used the same method to make creamy sauces for gnocchi (which if bought carefully, can be real food too) and similar things. The trick is to use a lot, since they will reduce in volume by a lot, and cook them for a very long time, covered. Basically you want to steam them, not brown them. I start with medium-high heat, and as soon as they start to slightly color, turn it way down. I usually add a little bit of water. Cover and let them steam, stirring every 7-10 minutes or so (I don't really time it, just occasionally). You want basic (not sweet) yellow or white onions. Yellow is best. Don't try reds, it's easy to make them bitter by cooking them. It works with sweet yellows but the flavor seems off to me, too sweet. I cut them and then use a press-type dicer/cutter to make very small pieces, so they cook really well. You could do it with a knife and more time. From there, I may mash them into beans, or use a blender to make a really creamy sauce. It's flexible. The end result is actually light in onion flavor even when you use a lot. I use this, and highly recommend it for all veggie dicing needs: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764HS4SL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. If you'd stop quoting the idiot, most people wouldn't see it. My trial balloon was to read a post by a known fucktard and see if it contained a conversation. As soon as he wasn't worshiped for the god that he thinks he is, it went to shit. Here we are. For a minute, I truly thought we could have a conversation about a third party product without a massive idiot ego being involved.
  14. Probably possible, or be so threatening that you just start over. The amount needed to ruin a finish is microscopic. Adam Savage said two things are herpes in his shop, and banned; silicone and glitter. I used glitter for a project at the last house, and found it for years where I didn't want it.
  15. A more natural diet, less sugar, less salt. Right around 1940 is when more processed stuff was becoming mainstream, so we saw the results a few decades later. But it took a while for the processed food industry to fuck our diet completely, more like the 70s. False. Half the shit they got didn't have a name, or was put down as the wrong thing. More people died before they could "get" a disease. They say every single man alive will get prostate diseases if he lives long enough; so now we have "more" of it because we're surviving other things. Cancer rates were astronomically higher by 1990. Sugar consumption went up over double by 2000. The 50s also launched ultra-salty foods, which we'd get to see the results of decades later. Salt-free cookbooks were already appearing by the 1950s, and two decades later manufacturers dropped salt from baby food. By 1981 the FDA had launched sodium-education initiatives aiming to cut U.S. salt intake. Three years later, sodium was added to the list of ingredients required to be mentioned on nutrition labels. Despite such efforts to increase awareness, salt consumption in the U.S. has jumped 50% over the past four decades. One reason: salt often lurks where you don't expect it. A dollop of cottage cheese, for instance, can pack twice as much of the mineral as a palmful of salted peanuts. Plus, as much as 75% of Americans' sodium intake comes from processed foods like canned soup and baking mixes--which means you could easily blow past your daily allotment without ever picking up the saltshaker.

  17. I have three to give away. Their meals are pretty good nutritionally; not ideal Whole Foods, but close. Convenient to prepare, and we rarely dislike them. Some are VERY good. https://www.purplecarrot.com/weekly-menu/meal-kits https://www.purplecarrot.com/weekly-menu/prepared-meals
  18. Beats me. I'll have to go search for instructions, long day so added to the list of tasks.
  19. I need a funnel for car fluids maybe three times a year in a busy year, they would likely be disposable for me. Basic cheap PLA is under $20/kilo, it can hit $15. My slicer tells me that the large funnel uses 132g so $2.50-ish. I personally don't see a use for the large. The "thicc" version scaled to 50%, which is what seems most useful to me, uses 31g, so about 70 cents. That model at 75% uses 80g. Both models start at 250mm long and 135mm at their widest point. "Thicc" has double-thick walls so that when you scale it down, you don't end up with unprintably thin walls with a generic (cheap) printer. PLA should be great against most automotive fluids, definitely not acetone, and possibly not brake cleaner.
  20. You can use a soldering iron to melt the back of it and "weld" it together. Some soldering kits also include specific paddle bits to do this. And this is very effective if you just want to glue it. @superhawk996 used it on his Talon, maybe he can comment on how it has held up. https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/products/fix/super-glue/loctite_plasticsbondingsystem.html
  21. Honestly I just can't advise you on this realistically. Obviously GIMP is going to run, is it going to be great? No idea. I don't use it, and I don't know anything more than "it's a photo editor." I haven't edited photos on a Windows machine in 20 years. These are cheap basic machines with very little storage, also.
  22. I don't really know an exact number, it's a Celeron, so probably more comparable to an i3 or i5. I have one running next to me and it feels fine for what you said you wanted to do, I'm sure I wouldn't want to be doing video editing on it or 3D gaming. I deployed a ton of them for a call center to do their work on and phone calls over a headset.
  23. I have two of these in sealed boxes, brand new. How about $100 plus actual shipping cost? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-14-0-laptop-intel-celeron-n4020-4gb-memory-64gb-emmc-star-black-star-black/6469401.p?skuId=6469401
  24. How is this not already a product? In fact, it should be the default design for a funnel. Print them any size you want, too! https://thangs.com/designer/Chrismaster/3d-model/Set Down Oil Funnel-580822?manualModelView=true
