poida Posted August 12, 2016 Share Posted August 12, 2016 I'm attempting a valve adjustment on my 99 bird and when i removed the valve cover saw the holes that sit between the plug holes to be pretty gunked up.would i be correct in assuming they have something to do with the pair system?What would be the best and easiest way to clean them?I was thinking of using my shop vac and funnelling the end of it down to see if it will suck the crap out but thought it best to ask in case it's the wrong thing to do. jon haney Posted August 14, 2016 Share Posted August 14, 2016 Hold the end of the shop vac hose real close while you loosen the gunk with a pick or small screw driver. Just don't let it get in the motor. Those passages are for the "PAIR system". Won't really affect the way your bike runs, if they are plugged. superhawk996 Posted August 14, 2016 Share Posted August 14, 2016 If you want them clean I'd suggest putting the shop vac on the exhaust pipe rather than trying to suck it up at at then head. If you have duals plug one and stick the vac to the other. Using the vac at the head you'll most likely have stuff flying around and some will fall into the head. poida Posted August 14, 2016 Author Share Posted August 14, 2016 thanks for the replies.my air cleaner gets pretty black so wasnt sure if that was because those holes were clogged up or not.hopefully i can get a couple of shims tomorrow.kinda shittin myself a bit that i screw something up so will be glad once it's all back together.
