Another Tail Cleanup Idea

This was a pretty easy and inexpensive change. Just remove the stock licence plate bracket/light and reflecter and bolt the new light it in the same place the reflector was. I spray painted it with a matt black to match the plastic. I like the look much better than the stock licence plate setup. I got the licence plate light at my local auto parts store for about $7 Here is the company that makes them http://www.pmlights.com/ go to products then licence plate & utility lights

I did the same thing....but I cut out the bottom lens of the tail light and put in a clear lens made from a cd case. Wish I'd have thought about that little light...would have saved me a lot of time..Good work!

I did the same as Andy. I popped out that red plastic cover, used it as a template, and trimmed a CD case to fit. Used clear silicone adhesive to attach. You need a large elastic and a few small blocks of wood or something to hold it in place while the adhesive sets, as there is a slight curve to the bottom of the lens.

Steve

Here's a pic. Sorry for poor quality.

instead of cutting a cd case you can use a 2"x4" clear plastic welding lens cover. you can pick them up for next to nothing at most hardware or auto parts stores where welding or cutting equip is sold. they fit great with just a little light trimming.

mine looks pretty much like steve's except i cut up a little higher into the plate so the plate is hanging. replacing the reflector with a small lic plate light is a great idea, since it doesnt get brighter when you brake. very cool.

spEEdfrEEk, hookman49, eliXXir........thanks

spEEdfrEEk, not muh more I can tell you. Once you have the new light in hand and the old one off, it's pretty obvious. It only took about 15 min to do it. I'll post a side view in the next day or 2
