SwampNut Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 We may or may not have had a conversation in Austin about what his massive rock crushers can hide. 1 Quote

I was left alone with an excavator, bulldozer and a loader. While others called it work, I referred to it as amazing and relaxing. I am typically driving a couple hours, on the phone non stop and rarely get to play with the big toys now. Just turned on some music and played as if I was 5yrs old with my Tonka toys. As for clean up, I can not lie and say that I haven't buried a thing or two in almost 25 yrs. Areas we mine are over 60 million years old and suspect it will be another 60 million before dug up again. Should see one location we are filling in, estimate 20 yrs to fill in half of it. 1 1 Quote

xrated Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Update: I finally got around to putting the new Amazon "link belts" on my stuff. The bench grinder was a bit of a pain because there wasn't enough room to turn the belt material inside-out and do the connections, but I made it work. It's actually such a tight fit in that area that the outer surface is just ever so slightly touching the grinder housing.....and that makes a little noise. The drill press was a 15 minute job from start to finish, including getting the length close to the old worn out belt, then putting some WD40 on the adjusters, to installing and adjusting the belt tension and locking it down. It runs as smooth as a baby's butt and hopefully will last another 70 plus years. The drill press, as I stated before was my father's, and it was purchased before I was born in 1954... 1 Quote
