    Bent Forks?

Any idea how much force it takes to bend a fork? The only way to actually tell is to disassemble and check with v blocks but if the front bounces smoothly without any sticks it is probably fine. Check all fasteners. And trust that if it doesn't feel right, you may just be correct. Bearings come to mind.

    Shim question

Post shim I had my son the welder add a steel plate to the bottom of the side stand. Picked the bike up more and doesn't sink in the ground as much.

    Grip Adhesive?

And the hair spray is the absolute best fuel for your potato gun.
  4. Well -- the upside is that the bird won't need the repairs like the other things. And money is only money, easier replace and there is lots more money in the world than motorcycles.
  5. You know I found that stuff 2 yrs ago, and started using it. Early this yr I read an article about it and how much everyone loves it. I thought I was special but guess great minds think alike. I wonder how well it would work in a Pro-oiler?
  6. Were it not a "her" Zeus might work. Lightning bolt kind of thing Congrats on the lumens - everyone needs this mod. Maybe that would work -- Lumens
  7. Fine - never thought of blasting with soda-- latest thing in the log renovation business is blasting with dry ice, I have no idea how that works. Any idea where to get a compass/temp setup?
  8. nicely done - inspiring I've been thinking of doing a similar thing with a unit from a rearview mirror that has compass and temp. Have not taken the time to source the parts yet though. For me at my age it's more important to know which way I'm going, and in Montana it's important to know how soon the road will be ice again. I wonder about the remote signal from the Valentine One, maybe too far from the line of sight.
  9. Wouldn't the bike run off the alternator output with the batt disconnected? sounds like a switch I remember a Triumph that would do that, more often at speed at night round a curve in the road. Damn near made my give up riding.
  10. I had a truck that didn't have that much horsepower. But it did have two headlights. Yup, awesome machine.
  11. Thanks I needed that, And some for my Tundra, it has 120k I suppose I could change them.
  12. Just make it easy and cheap don't go 85

    Chains

Add a Pro-oiler and add many more miles. The no hassle auto oiling, on the fly adjustment more than have offset the cost. I hadn't even considered longer chain life. I installed one last year and still have not adjusted the chain, It can make a mess till you get it dialed in with the right lube and amount. I like it.
  14. Thanks - much appreciated
  15. Without taking them apart and looking, I'm wondering what causes this phenomena. With the wheel off I cam move the fork sliders forward and back about half a mm - sideways about 1 mm. Not much but enough to know there is something worn enough to allow movement. Anyone know what I need to order and a good online source? I bought the bike with a race-teck kit. valved for a heavier rider. I'll be changing shims. seals and boots as well as installing stem bearings just as PM. I have the stem bearings and seals from All-Balls, just wondering

    It was the Lube!

    Chain Jumping

Determining the frequency will indicate whether it's the chain, front, or rear sprocket. If it's one link in the chain the noise - feeling will occur with each full rotation of the chain. Likewise if it's the front sprocket the frequency will be much higher. With the bike on the center stand, or with the rear wheel free, and the chain tightened, rotating the rear wheel should give an indication of the source. And check with the cover on and then off as well. Most probably the chain. Ditch the teflon spray and get another chain lube.

    Tire mystery

You have a FJR and a bird? And the FJR never gives you guff? Sounds to me like there may be some seriously hurt feelings in the garage. Perhaps a fresh oil change, some high test, a wax job and a little bonding time might patch things up.
  19. With all the difference of experience I'm wondering how much road surface factors in. I can imagine there are significant road material differences across the planet , even differences in concrete.
