    Fuel Consumption

I was looking at fuel milage on the site Fuelly and it seems that motorcycles, from 750 up to 1800"s get somewhere between 35 and 45 mpg No matter what brand. The only exception is the honda NC700 and 750 at 70mpg Gotta be a conspiracy I tell Ya ! My sons Honda Fit gets 35 to 45.

    Balance Beads

A requisite from what I've read. The concept that they will keep balancing a tire for it's life is appealing. I still would like to understand the physics involved.

    Balance Beads

I have noticed that as tires wear that they can go out of balance and that doesn't make much sense either. Unless it's weights coming off.

    Balance Beads

There was one of those on the local craigslist a couple months ago, an antique. I remember shops using them in the 50's. Excellent explanation. My question is - how - or perhaps why? Would they do the same for auto and truck tires?

    Balance Beads

I did the heavy end to the bottom way for years, I find if I put the heavy to the top I can do it faster and more accurately . I see what you mean, dynamic balancing, that's what I meant by lateral - one side of a tire heavier.

    Balance Beads

I put beads in the BMW rear wheels mainly because I don't have the adapter and they seem to work well. When I weight balance I rotate the heavy spot to the top, move it both directions till it starts to move on its own then start placing two weights spread on the opposite till it balances. But back to beads. I think I understand how they balance in a vertical plane but how do they balance laterally, assuming they do? How well do they work in a big tire where lateral balance is important ?
  7. +1 But what chain oil do you put in it? I've tried lots, any more I put in whatever is handy.
  8. I installed HID years ago and don't remember taking much apart. both bulbs. The ballasts are screwed to the inside panels and just clear the forks. Best mod ever

    Oil additive ?

Engines I tore down in the early 70's were easy to tell which oil had been used. Quaker State had grey sludge, Kendall had black sludge, Wolfs Head and Pennsoil were clean.

    Oil additive ?

😁 Brother-in-laws car, 10 years ago. True, they got screwed on that car, but, it was a chevy.

    Oil additive ?

Any thoughts on using Anti wear additives vs friction modifiers? Products? My only experience is with Maxi-mizer, I put a bottle of it in a chevy that used a quart per tank prior to a cross country trip. I added a mixed quart at the first fill-up and that was the last that engine burned oil. It was a non=stop trip so the engine ran for lots of hours. That product is a metal base lube additive.

    Oil additive ?

    That was the contraption

    Oil additive ?

Does anyone remember the oil additive demos from some years ago where they seized a bearing with a lever contraption, then dropped a bit of their snake oil on it and it wouldn't seize? The claims were that you could put in in an engine run it, drain the oil and it would run without oil. What happened to that show? I remember that they were at most every gun show. I do remember a guy here that had a goldwing that he tested it on, ran it to operating temp, added an ounce or so and in about 20 min. the idle increased.

    I need a switch

What will be ready this summer is small, high powered (200 amp), and will make any sound you can put onto a card in wav. Train - ooga - horse - car crash - anything

    I need a switch

Enlisting the collective wisdom and experience of the group, I am needing a button or some such switch to operate an accessory horn on a motorcycle. Not wanting to use the existing horn button, this will be a separate add on. Not much I can say about it right now except it will be loud and be whatever sound you want. Just need the button.
  21. BTW Does anyone have maps? I have the PC3 in my 99 In 05 or so I took mine to the local dyno shop for tuning, they said they had never had a bike with bags hooked up before. Anyway they determined the throttle bodies needed to be synced so they couldn't do anything. Even with that it produced 145 hp. I've done the TB since so would like to have maps.
  22. That will be great for the Africa Twin. That battery is so buried it's nearly impossible to attach add-ons.
  23. Kind of a pain to install but I sure like mine.
