  1. Wasn't going to count that, the old one had less than 1k on it. But, you are paying attention, I commend thee! I will fix that along with the sticker mishap and regroup for a repost. thanks.
  2. $8 a can, took five cans. Shit, I forgot the $20 in stickers I spent too. I'll edit that on my records.
  3. All prices are approximate and don't reflect the time/tools/labor for the jobs. Maintenance.xls Damn, it adds up fast! BTW 1997 Blackbird 20k miles
  4. !997 20k here. Your guys' bike suck! My tool strap is still kickin after 10yrs! So far I have replaced 1 cct 2 tires 1 hose clamp 6 push pins 1 Honda dimpled bolt and I believe the driver failed within the first 200mi he owned it! oh yeah, windshield and mirror.
  5. :icon_clap: +1! If the chain barely misses the center-stand (when you have the rubber stopper installed) , Good to go! WHILE SITTING ON IT. . . damn wangs!
  6. Excellent, now bikes too can double as phone booths! Okay, that wasn't nice. And yet, it was still a bump! :icon_hump:
  7. May be getting a jacket now that it's too late. How is everyone enjoying thiers? Anyhow, what is this thing being referred to as when I call to order? Thanks
  8. Damn, you are one lucky bastard! That, and things seem tight around dis here blackbird community! Best of Luck. Next time. . . DON'T SELL THE BIRD! The kids . . . . maybe, the bird. . . .NO WAY! :icon_slap:
  9. Of course, I still am looking for a good looking for a clean gunfighter seat, preferably w/backrest. I think the gunfighter comes in 2 styles(?). Anyhhow, I really need one that will be comfortable for 2-up riding. Yeah I know, who aint lookin' for one?! Thanks -shane
  10. Did you adjust your rear chain recently? My bike feels a little off when the rear wheel gets out of straight. I usually do the "no hands at 70mph" to see if the bike runs true. The less you have to lean to go straight, the better you are. As for the front, did you double check the tension on the stem bearings? When those are out, it is amazing what all it feels like is wrong. When I did my forks, I left the bottom clamps and bridge piece loose and loaded the forks a tad w/just the top clamps tight. After a couple bounces I tightened everything. I had an issue once with that crossover piece. If you tighten it too soon, it is possible that the forks will be held in the wrong spot. I doubt you'll be able to visually find the problem, sometimes millimeters feel like miles. Be sure and bleed all the air out of both forks, perhaps the fluid in one of the forks aint settled yet? Anyhow, this is all probably refresher common knowledge for you, but hey, I tried to help! :icon_slap: Let me know if'n you find anything.
  11. Can I donate beer? I'll ship some goodies if it'll be drank at the next mod meating? Money is so booring!
  12. 40mph. running 2-up highway at 80mph, stock birdy 1997. D&D exhaust at the time. Went back to stock pipes and am going 1 tooth up front -after i get a time-slip at bristol that is! Probly change plugs and windshield then recount.
  13. I wouldn't mess with heat joe. I tried a ton of things, and heat only succeeded in making waves and increasing the bad spot. If you can get a dremel tool and v-cut the crack down then use a welder to repair then finish with glue? I have had luck with the glue I used in that welding thread. Actually, for smaller cracks that don't require adding plastic, I would recommend using that fiber flex uni-weld that came with my welder. I also would use reinforcing mesh. Don't forget to drill where the cracks stop to prevent further cracking! Again, finish off the front with that hobby glue and elbow grease. If you need to borrow the welder, I'll ship it out to ya for the cost of shipping. Hell, i just bought a bunch of that fiber flex, so all you got to supply is the stainless mesh. Just say the word, and the kit is on the way. You choose the shipping. Best of luck! linky BTW, sometimes the plastic stretches when it cracks. Even if you do force it together, it may still create a high spot. Aint plastic pieces wonderful? Be wary of vibration! Your paint will crack if you don't secure the crack from the back. my .02cents
  14. Johns bike bits man! I used to order from bandit a lot. Last order, they sent me grips I couldn't use. l I placed another order a week later. Well, most of the crap on that order was cross-shipped, so I didn't get the order for over 2 weeks! Bike bandit likes to stall an entire order when they are waiting on $5 worth of $200! I got the parts and asked them if I could return the grips with my next $200+ order (I have the disease). I was notified that I had waited too long, and I wouldn't get anything for those $15 grips. That totally pissed me off! Here I am spending over $1000 a year at bike bandit, and they wouldn't even give me credit for $15! Hell, I would've let them take 15% for stocking. So, I informed them that they wouldn't be getting any orders over $20 from me again, and have stuck to it. I can't say they suck, but I can't say. . . .Well yeah, I'll say it. BIKE BANDIT SUCKS!!!
  15. Here's a low miles 02 for sale in Chicago area. Ebay not mine. I will give the man credit for his sale strategy! linky
  16. I was getting just at 40 riding 2-up with the d&d's. The idle speed got changed when i put the stocks on. I will probably leave the jets alone for a while. Perhaps I'll just check the pilot adjustment to spec and burn some miles. While I'm in there changing plugs, I'll probably sync the carbs again ( I love my tool). Going to instal my vfr's tonight too! Speaking of which, time to go to work on my shit. hehe! thanks guys.
  17. Got rid of my D&D's. I must be getting old, because I actually prefer the quieter bike now. I noticed that it is advised to rejet your carbs when installing D&D slip on's? I also noticed you don't HAVE to? My question is this: Any of you guys know of a trick on how to check what jets are in your carbs, w/o removing them? Maybe one of those bowls can be removed on bike? I'm goin to be putting new plugs in anyhow, but was just hoping someone can tell me an easy way. I haven't looked in my manual yet, if it doesn't say, can someone tell me what stock jet numbers are in a 97? Thanks, I'll be taking pictures.
  18. Hehe! The new Tony Hawk in Joe Rockets, that sounds about right. Thanks toxxic.

Anyone try a 19 tooth? Just hoping to find 3-3.5k rpm at 75-80 mph. I only weigh about 150 and don't need more acceleration for sure. Where is everyone getting their 18's?
  20. Got my stock pipes in today. thanks hobicus. I noted on the package that stock pipes weigh 30lbs. I also noticed that packaging pipes w/peanuts makes it a pain in the ass to get them out. :icon_think: They'll burn out soon enough! I also shipped a pair of D&D exhaust out. thanks cxbxr. The shipping weight on those W/mid pipes was only 15lbs. Just thought this may be usefull when shipping. Ups on the D&D's was only $22 from TN to TX.
  21. Second dibs on boots. I'll take the undertail $$35 shipped?
  22. I would be scared to go much lower than daves. Seems like your feet get dangerously close to the ground with just the inch difference his make.
  23. Sounds like you need to loan me your girl . Perhaps she could tell me if my bike isn't set up right. Sorry, I just find it funny how she noticed first, then you found the issue. I've never ridden on the back of a bird, probably scare the shit outta me! Have you been adjusting 1 thing at a time? Hard to know which setting is making the difference, if you do a bunch then ride.
