  1. Phone arrived today well packaged and in excellent shape. Thanks, Mike.
  2. I have an S5 now, the wife has my old S4, which is still a great phone. One of the kids has my old Motorola Bionic and the other has a phone I bought from Ben- Razr? Dunno. Anyway, with this acquisition the kids can both get bumped to S4's and the wife can either upgrade or take my S5 and I'll upgrade. Everyone is happy. The question is do I wait until birthdays in October, or do I start the game of musical phones when I get a package from Mike?
  3. A happy confluence of events. I was just checking on upgrade eligibility on the household phones last night, then sit down for my morning forum session today and this pops up.
  4. The lateral movement on the shaft is normal, the sprocket "floats" on the splines. The play in spline engagement may or may not be of concern depending on how severe it is. Regardless, the bolt is not designed to hold the sprocket securely, it merely keeps it from sliding off the end of the shaft.
  5. +2 or whatever it is now for bobbing a set of OEM units. Mine never moved or rotated in 40k or so miles I had them that way.
  6. Is the lever mushy or are they just not biting the way you'd like? Something to keep in mind is you used to get some rear brake that you're not getting anymore, that may honestly be the difference. I'm not sure what, if any, effect using only the outer pistons has, but I drilled my calipers and went to a 5/8" bore front master and they worked great.
  7. Bank angle sensor should cover you for your photo ops. That said, I never use mine but still consider it a safety of sorts that I wouldn't disable.
  8. I'd be willing to entertain the possibility that the guys who put the tires on backwards might have also failed to install the wheels correctly. Correlation ≠ causation.
  9. Not Zero, but I am left handed. Every once in a while it can be a little frustrating, but for the most part it's something I've had a lifetime to learn to live with. Interesting subject, though, you should start a thread in the pub.
  10. Where did I mention a one way system or the water pump being a sealed unit? The system traps some fluid, that's to be expected. See, these are the little challenges you're going to run across in life. You can roll over them (this one should have taken maybe 5 minutes total to do a bit of math and then drain/top off the system with the appropriate fluid) or you can obsess about how stupid the design is and bitch about it on the internet. I envy you if you have the space in your life to think about this "problem" for any longer than it takes to solve it.
  11. It circulates just fine, when the motor is running. But you be sure to drop the engineers at Honda a strongly worded letter to let them know about this horrible flaw of coolant not circulating when the motor is off.
  12. There's a second drain point on the front of the motor, closer to the left side, if memory serves. Even using the second drain point I never removed or replaced more than 3 quarts without seriously disassembling things. I just assumed there's plenty of nooks and crannies in there for fluid to pool in.
  13. He is taking it to RacerXX and I'm leaving my leathers at home. No point in running laps at times up around 120% of what I did on that bike back in '10 and '11. It's a perishable skill, and what little I had has perished Good luck with the sale Joe. 2k is a good price, there's a lot of expensive bits on that thing.
  14. I don't think you are going to find that in Wisconsin. You'd be surprised. We used to sample the night life in Sheboygan when we were up at Road America for the AMA suberbike races. There was no shortage of local hotties. Keep in mind the girl pictured will probably be pushing two bills and have a serious drinking problem by the time she's 35. It is Wisconsin, after all.
  15. I use a dental pick, but if I have the seals out, I'm replacing them. Might not be a great idea if you're reusing your seals.
  16. Can't recall which is which, but the outer two pistons and the center piston are controlled separately by rear brake pedal and the secondary cylinder on the front fork. Going entirely from very faded memory- I think the outer two are activated by the secondary on the fork, in which case you're going to need to check the proportioning valve that you'll find on the right side of the bike under the rear cowl and the return circuit on the cylinder itself. If I'm wrong, and that's not only possible but likely, then troubleshooting will be easier, as the problem will be somewhere between the rear pedal the the caliper. It could also be the piston seals sticking, but that would be too simple.
  17. Deacon, where the hell have you been hiding? Good hearing from you, and thanks for the input.
  18. Thanks, Brett, some good stuff there. I looked into the 5/3/1 program and the only problem for me is going up to the 85%-95% range. I've learned the hard way that's dangerous territory for me to be visiting regularly. I ain't old, but I'm beginning to realize I ain't young anymore, either. I had set concrete goals back in October, relating to strength, flexibility, balance, stamina and a tape measure. They were nothing too lofty, just what I thought it would take for me to qualify as being back in "decent" shape. So an abstract idea translated into concrete measurements and goals. ~14 weeks later I've met or am close to meeting all those goals. I think I'll set some short term goals for the next 6-8 weeks, at which point I'll be going back to working more. With another 6-8 weeks under my belt, I think the realistic longer term goal will be to maintain over the course of the summer. If I can get to next October/November in as good or better shape than I am right now, that would honestly be doing pretty good for me. Oh, and I just ordered a body fat caliper. I'm sick of guessing on that one, and that's a priority over the scale for me as well. The heaviest I've been in the last five years was also when I was in the best shape.
  19. It does make sense, and that's probably where I need to get my head. I have no real urge to be huge or bench 1.5 times my weight, nor do I have any aspirations of running a marathon, though I have a lot of respect for anyone who works toward and meets those goals. I just enjoy being relatively fit and strong, but my motivation to be that has traditionally been "progress". The real reward is not being a sloppy piece of shit, but that's never been my main motivation. I suppose I need to set realistic long term goals of where I want to be, get there, then develop sustainable habits to simply keep me there.
  20. I don't own any fat clothes, as I've never really been fat. I was definitely overweight a few years ago, but I don't think many would have called me fat. Mine is typically an issue of condition more than weight. I also don't believe in "dieting".
  21. This is pretty much where I'm at, or at least where I know I will be once work picks up again. During winter it's easy, I've got a ton of free time and attention to put toward diet, exercise, etc. Summer rolls around and I'm lucky if I can sneak home for a quick workout 2-3 times a week, and it's difficult to put the effort needed into eating right. The first couple years I did a decent job of simply maintaining over the busier months and then getting back to progressing in the slower months. Last year it just started seeming like a lot of effort for little to no progress, but I think you're on to something with long term goals. Looking years down the road years instead of weeks/months might be what it takes, but that will take a largish mental adjustment on my part. Setting those goals will take some thought, as I no longer lift for max at all. 25 years in the trades and it'd be easier to list my good joints than bad. I've had setbacks related to knee, elbow and shoulder issues and have no urge to take anymore forced breaks. Since I got back into this last fall I've been focusing on flexibility, a lot of core stuff and the lifting is all in the 10-15 rep range. My goals lately are more about overall fitness rather than building mass or lifting as heavy as possible. Thanks for the input, definitely food for thought.
