  1. I got Northmans used HEL lines, and I am very happy with them. I had to order a bunch of crush washers, or whatever you call them from HEL. It was hard contacting the guy, but he sent them after a while. Yeah, I thought he was pretty flaky too.
  2. Ha ha funny. I fixed it for you. I had a plug in my rear tire this summer out west, for about 2500 miles. I was pretty anal about checking the pressure at every gas stop (every 3 hours or 200-ish miles) I have a slime kit too, and they are very cool, btw. The little gauge BLEW UP on me though. Damn near put my eye out. I got my slime compressor for $10 after mail in rebate, so I can't complain. I'm just sayin'
  3. I am also experiencing nozzle mount issues. My original nozzles clogged up late last year and it was almost impossible to correctly clean them, so I ordered replacement nozzles. I was sent a whole new nozzle assembly, which was billed as new and improved. It did not fit the original mounting bracket exactly, but like you, I was not keen on drilling more holes. I got it in and aligned and it seemed to be OK, but I did have numerous occasions on my trip of the whole thingamajig just falling off. I am going to be a dualsport motoring this week where Francois (sp) has a replacement for me. I am going to insist on the old nozzle assembly, or at least what I originally asked for, which is two little bitty pieces of plastic tubing. I will tell you that it is essential that you take care when replacing the rear wheel to spread the nozzles as you pass the sprocket through them. I think that is how I fucked mine up to begin with. I don't know...that's an awful lot of care for a fat old buzzed fart like me to take. Best wishes
  4. Mine probably would have been easier to install if I had stopped at ONE BEER. Vista Cruise (or NEP, don't remember) was my first add on to the bird, and I couldn't get it to work without sticking.
  5. '99 or later. FI, and R/R problems rectified. (IMHO, duh)
  6. +1, butt be ready for months of thick-ass catalogs after that!

    Vacum pipes

So your wife is a nagger??
  8. Oh, OK. I forgot. Yes, mine is hooked to that thing, since my Pro-oiler is tied to that also. Rich uses a Scott Oiler, so he wouldn't necessarily need the same electrical connections. It was an easy thing to do once the petrol tank is removed. For those of you with a Throttlemeister: They look cool (I have one on the bird) but they are SO inferior to a CC it is laughable. They are good only for solo cruising though, as I imagine the TM is. It is difficult to synchronize your speed to other bikes. IIRC, Rich led the way out west on CC........ I do know that I could not use mine to stay with him. It required a lot of fidgeting.
  9. What the fuck is a VSS? Yeah, I can tell you though that the cruise control is NOT very responsive without the canister. It works, and is cool and all that, but I am glad to hear yours is doing better now with the can. I should install one also.
  10. How did you manage that one? Didn't do stretches prior to use.
  11. I used Amsoil 10w/40 for this trip. It has just shy over 9000 on it now, and I was thinking about going ahead & changing it. Would it be expensive, and where do I do it, to get the oil analyzed? (he he, I used "anal" in a word) I paid $10.99 per quart at Honda
  12. I am having a shower stall tiled & the guy told me he would use PEX tubing instead of copper for the little plumbing that is required. I had never heard of it, so I went online. Seems good enough. Any of you know the pros & cons??

I did the same thing to mine a few years back....not as clean a finished product as yours, but at the time, wearing beer goggles, it was gorgeous. I was showing mine off one day when Ruhi showed me his. Same basic principle, but he used some other type mesh that really blinged mine out.
  14. Every thread you read on this points to "all balls" brand tapered bearings from Chapperal (sp?) ....... about $35 I put in a set in March w/about 35K on the bike. No more shakes or anything. Been 11K since then w/ no problems. Plenty of threads here re: installation.
  15. outbid at $47 Thanks for te heads up Rich. At least I made somebody pay for it!
  16. If any of you have an aftermarket undertail and dumped your stock one, I would love to take it off your hands. I got too much beer one night & cut loose with a dremel. Kind of like tattoos, that tool doesn't mix well with alcohol. Thanks in advance
  17. '99 with 45K on it (8,000 miles since 6/9/08) *replaced CCT everything else could be considered maintenance or replacement due to low speed drops
  18. Stan, I love you :icon_iloveyou: :icon_iloveyou: He gave the short answer, actually. He did call and tell me it was the battery, but I told him, no, the auto store checked the battery. "Did they load test it?" Well, hell. I asked them to check the battery. I figure that was enough. "Go ask them, they probably didn'. It's the battery" They did NOT laod test it. Once they did, the tester read out "unusable battery" It WAS the battery. They had an exact replacement in stock, but it was dry ship, so I bought a little 1A charger to charge it for 12 hours. I also bought a can of dielectric grease to put everything back together. I am on my first 6 pack of Harp. I am in Cloverdale, CA with nothing to do. Maybe I'll get drunk and clean my bike. Oh, what probably screwed up the battery is the 5600 miles I have put on it in the last 9 days, we have been on some WONDERFUL roads, but many parts of them are very rough.
  19. My bird died on me today, on a Friday night, thousands of miles from home. I hope somebody here can point me in the right direction. I had been on the bike pretty constantly for about 8 hours. I stopped at an intersection to fiddle with my GPS, and I cut the bike off. using the engine kill switch. When I flipped it back on, and pressed the starter button, all the lights went out. That is pretty much the sequence of events. I got out my multimeter and checked the battery...12 V plus or minus a little. The 30 amp fuse is not blown. I do not see any blown fuses. When I check the voltage to the battery with the switch on, it doesn't read in volts; instead it starts reading in Ohms. Same thing when I test the "hot" side of the main fuse.... Does this mean anything? I had the bike towed to a hotel and I am going to take the rear cowl off and try to find out what is going on. I am in Sonoma CA My cell is (865) 567 5469 I will get up and at it at about 7 PDT Thanks for the help
  20. Josh, if you have to have it to keep running, that's more important than my use.... (as a spare, more or less) I can send it to you for my cost and a blowjob
  21. Well, welcome aboard, Trexx....and thanks a lot for hurting the feelings of our lil' kiwi member. Now we'll have him coming around crying on everyone's shoulders
  22. John, I do not have a clue to its worth, but I have a spare rear wheel that I have to swap out my rotor every time I put it on (I use it to mount my new tire on, waiting for my old one to wear out) $15? I'll pay shipping Philip
  23. Something has gone terribly wrong here, and the fabric that our existence is cut from is being rent...... there is a flame war between 2 Kawa owners in the for sale section over ZX14 parts? God, help us please. My head is about to pop
