  1. Damn, that's all I have used for the past 15 years in my truck, and two cars. got any recommendations
  2. Also a good idea to get engine up to operating temp and pulling sample to ensure any particulate matter is suspended in the oil. We have cool little bottles we draw a sample with. I got a pump we use to make forks and brake reservoir cleaning easier.
  3. Good results 50k miles.. She just got broken in
  4. I just gave away my old system, sorry Joe. speakers and all. The feeling of the walls shaking is nice. I found the weak link in my system years ago watching MOTOGP seems the speakers could only take so much and then "pop" wife got home and I had to explain why we needed new speakers.
  5. it is nice, the brakes, bars, and overall feel of your set up is perfect.
  6. I would love to have better brakes, zx-14 I test rode was bad ass. Then got on the XX and felt like wood. The zx did have issues with warping rotors I believe though.
  7. Well I can honestly say its a clean well maintained bike.
  8. I always removed the left panel on my bird. Takes two minutes to get it out of my way. That makes it worth it for me. The best oil I have ever used in the bird T6 with a WIX filter (who also make the NAPA GOLD filters)
  9. Good tip about the bolts Imagine I will need to replace mine soon. Or at least order one and keep it handy on trips.
  10. adding in more oil will effect the fork in later stages of compression, too much will run the risks of making the forks almost rigid and easier to blow the oil seals. I would probably add maybe 5mm or so and try. Motion Pro makes a cool little measuring tool to help make it easier, I have my own little homemade version that I use and does the same thing. Also have oil weights to play with as well if you think that will help. I personally run about 7mm more oil and use a 7.5W oil in my forks. I use a ratio right cup to mix my oil as 7.5 seems impossible to get (5, 10, and 15 are most common in local shops) I like to yank the forks and flush every couple years. What exactly are you trying to do or solve? can go with different internals valving and spring rates to suit your needs.
  11. 1st set lasted 8 or 9k miles. No joking, bike was slow starting and ran rough. The itty bitty irridum center electrode was about gone making for a hell of an spark gap. Replaced with some new NGK plugs. Ran awesome again. Checked at 32k miles while I had bike down for winter service. Looked amazing good. So I left well enough alone. Will probably put in new ones when I service the bike this winter which includes forks, radiator and stuff. Don't know why the set from the factory burned away. I posted about it on here years ago, comparing the new and old plugs. But the first warning was the bike taking an extra second or so to fire up and running rough at idle. Biggest issue is lifting tank up and removing airbox. Rest is easy
  12. buy 2 yards of material only need 1, but you know murphy's law pull out the 50 staples Honda used make pattern, sew together, toss in dryer for 3 minutes on high, pull over seat pan and foam, staple quickly them use hair dryer to do the rest or pay a shop $100 or so choice is yours I need to redo one of my seats as well. Last redone 12 yrs ago when I went with the solo look and shaved some foam to improve comfort.
  13. My tire guy never had a issue with my bt's Or mentioned more struggle with a certain brand. For some reason he loves shinkos. Tried to get me to try them for years.
  14. Thought about getting my own changer but got enough crap as it is. Local guy does my tires for me. I enjoy BSing with him for a few hours anyways. Way cheaper than shops and a lot closer. BT 016s are my favorite tire ever. Just had another set spooned on. Think that was the 7th set to go on.
  15. thank you ethanol fuels thanks a lot glad she is running better
  16. As mention about Bob brown, he would use busted up pieces from other fairings and do some cutting and trimming to fill in larger holes. Them plastic weld the seams. Wonder what Bob is up to these days? He did some awesome work and would do some bad ass paint jobs with logo and sponsor race bikes doing all paint, no stickers.
  17. Good deal on tires Just got my new rubber spooned on this evening. Also $180 shipped to me, I am a happy kid to have new rubber.
  18. I write down my mileage for when I changed oil and installed new tires onto masking tape and stick it to my tool box. Never had a set of tires last more that 4500 miles. Always check air pressure. Even with my bt016 I already know at 40f/40r I am getting 3500 miles and done.
  19. Pr3 are plenty sticky depending on what you are looking for out of them. Your average mix of riding they will serve you well. I wouldn't do a track day on them though.
  20. Will you share your reason or just want to keep yelling about them with no substance? Sure, I will grab my brush and paint you a pretty picture. No Happy little trees here. Avon use to make the ST series tires 45/46, they were ok for slabbing but so/so great anything with a turn into them. Would get about 4500 miles out of them, not so good or bad. Then on a warm summer day I went on a ride into the Virginia mountains with my brand new ST tires and put them through the paces of me playing follow the leader with a few buddies. They held pretty good for an ST tire, running a few pounds lower psi in the twisties and would air them back up to 40 for the ride back home. Next day I look at my bike and the tire has all these pretty blues and purples all over. Opps.. and they never heated up again. 500 miles and done.. my fault for cooking them. Awesome in the rain as well. Avon had some SP tires I got those spooned on, bars shook like shit, took off the weights, back to the shop, remount it and balance it (I even marked where the old weights were at and new weigh matched up) still shook like crazy. contacted Avon. Its my fault it seems, so after telling them the runout of my rotors, wheel not bent, head bearings, blinker fluid ect ect are all perfect and they finally believe me. I get shipped another tire and get to send the shitty one back to be looked at. Pay once again to mount this tire on.. Worked smooth as butter, amazing just like a tire should be "round".. They were ok tires after that, lasted about 3500 miles. Here we skip ahead, Once again I change tires to a Metzler M3 which were shit tires for grip and life. I moved on to Bridgstones and ran 5 or 6 sets of BT016's hands down one of the best tires I have ever used. Stick like liquid nails to the road, and still get 3500 miles. Only time I ever had the BT016 slip out was on some 15mph turns going uphill and a wonderful asshole blew all his fresh cut grass into the road. Think this happened at WVXXT handful of years ago. I needed a new set of tires and while looking someone here posts a link about some Avons on sale, what the hell. Its been years and maybe they got their shit together. These are the Avon 3D Ultra sport tires, get them spooned on and even my tire guy mentioned the ridiculous amount of weigh to balance them out. Without any weights on the wheel it sunk like an anchor, finally getting it to level with several Oz. of weights. The tires are more triangle profile and turn in is nice getting them scrubbed in. Take a trip west to Warps, front end it shaking like all hell again. don't even think about resting your hands. Warp took it down the road and wondered how in the hell I rode it all the way to his house. We yanked off the weights and the shake was far less but still there. Hit some serious twisties finally getting a feel for the new tires and seemed ok and slip goes the rear. Slip there is went again. No gravel, even Johnny Warps friend saw it slip out and not really leaned that far over. Lower some air pressure (even asked a member here who does trackdays if going down to 33/34 psi in the tires would help or cause too much flex for a heavier bike) So the next days riding adventure over Back of the Dragon that is from Tazwell to Marion VA. 33 miles and 3 mountains worth of turns. Running lower pressure to flex the tire get some kind of heat and grip into these tire. Rode an hour or so getting to this area come up on the first set of switchbacks and fail. Ass end slipped way out, continue on for the next 30 plus miles and slipped multiple times. We parked at the Ranger station and I am picking seat cushion out of my ass and pissed I cant do more than tip toe around. Hell my buddy on his GTL 1600 was all over my ass and he is slow. I feel the tires of the bike and mine are warm but not really hot or sticky, Warps on his XX are toasty with rocks stuck to it from the parking lot around. Hell, even the GTL stock tires are hot and sticky. Somewhere on this forum I even made a post of these tires being the biggest pieces of shit I have ever been on. Hell the stock D205 dunslops didn't suck this much. They are shit tires, and will never ever use them ever again. Don't care how cheap, how great people claim. If I were to go buy a brand new bike right now I would have the dealer yank off the tires and either put something else on if it had on Avons. I hope they fail as a company, and all the people there are infested with mutated zombie slugs.
  21. I hope Avon burns down and goes bankrupt and is never able to produce another tire ever ever again. Will never say anything positive about them, will never recommend them and will warn people till I die.
