  1. Use whatever. Both are proven good. The feel in shifting is completely unrelated to engine wear overall. If you just want it to shift differently, then sure, just use whichever oil you prefer.
  2. RodeRash has it right on--that's your best bet. I'd go with Traxxion or Lindeman too. I had my forks done with RaceTech stuff. I wouldn't do it again. It was a huge improvement, sure, but it was painful since the RaceTech instructions are wrong and calling RaceTech is like talking to vegetables. Ok, sorry, that's not entirely fair to perfectly good vegetables. I too would choose the Penske over the Ohlins by a longshot. It's on my list of things to do Some Time Soon™.
  3. Can anyone with totally stock suspension (including stock-height fork tubes) tell me the distance between the ground and your rear tire when the bike is on the centerstand? Also let me know how much wear on your rear tire, since near-new is very different from fully worn.
  4. It took me nearly a week for that to go away. You just have to stick to it and get past that. I was hungry no matter what I ate and how much.
  5. Girlfriend claimed that space for her car and motorcycle. I noticed she never mentioned my motorcycle or its sleeping space. Now, to fucking pack...
  6. It conveniently has something the realtor called a "bedroom" attached to it, apparently you're supposed to sleep there and not with your tools. Move in 4/1.
  7. Hmm, I guess things have changed, but my 95 Bronco (F150 chassis) needed a special tool to remove the 4wd hubs. I have it, it's yours if it turns out you need it, though it might cost more to ship fast than to buy locally. I think it was $30.
  8. Ok, I think what's happening is that it is cooling the furnace to where the blower sensor sees that it's too cold, and shuts it off. However, maybe the sensor is bad, or improperly adjusted. You could try adjusting it to colder temps, but if you're really over on the blower your efficiency will go down. Is the motor configurable for speed? IE, does it have a fuckload of wires coming out of it, or just two? Try obstructing the return register about half-way with some plastic or something. Try to get it so the flow is what it used to be, and see what happens. DO NOT let it keep running that way forever, you'll stress the motor and kill it, but it will give some answers.
  9. I've got a heat pump, does that count? Don't imagine heat pumps, like swamp coolers, would be any good where you live.
  10. I'll third that. Consider a track school, which will remind you how far you can lean a bike.
  11. That's an odd one, but if it worked it worked. Is this gas? If so, there's a temp trigger to make the blower come on only when the furnace is hot, then shut down when it cools. Could be that sensor is bad, or corroded and not reading properly. That would be the first place I'd look, and it's simple. But I'm no expert, just understand how they generally work.
  12. If you're gonna ride like that, why didn't you just get a VTR250?
  13. What's a fuel broquet? If your mileage went down after service, then they did something wrong. What did you have service, and how many miles/kilometers on your bike? Fuel mileage often improves after service, if your plugs were old, for example.
  14. I believe it might be heavier, since they are more complex than the XX forks. Don't know that for a fact though. I would assume for drags that you'd just want to plug up the rebound valves and be done with it.
  15. Nasty shit. Inedible, even when topped with butter and toasted cheese. Taste reminds me of twigs and grass mixed up with Elmer's glue.
  16. Yeah, I always have to think about the jointer/joiner thing. Gotta remember, the jointer cuts the joint, the joiner (like biscuit joiner) puts them together.
  17. The NEP as shown above. See install instructions and pics on the site. I absolutely HATE the Throttlemeister.
  18. I'll be happy to put a fine miter on your venison and make a perfect joint. Birthday's actually the 8th, but she figured she'd better give it to me since I've been obsessing over which one to buy for two weeks. Would have picked up on or the other this week (also looking at a Ryobi and a Delta).
  19. Good tip. Also note that while there are two specific wraps, you can have any sandwich put into the tortilla instead of bread.
  20. Damn expensive. I picked up a full-width ramp, albeit without the fancy curve, for about $200 locally.
  21. Damn good! Amazing really, you honestly wouldn't guess it was anything out of the ordinary. The wrap they use is a low-carb tortilla which feels and tastes just like a normal one. I've got to find out where they get them! Only negative is they are a little on the small side.
  22. My girlfriend got me this for my birthday, along with an assortment of belts and discs... Since that freed up a little bit of tool budget, and those bastards at Harbor Freight sent me a flier with a major sale and coupon, I picked up this baby... Which after a few hours of assembly work became this:
  23. What he said. It's the only known-safe variety.
  24. Wow, thanks for all the time & detail. Your planer idea is like a lightning strike to me. I guess I no longer need a jointer with that idea. I've talked to a lot of woodworkers--nobody has ever had an idea like that, and all tell me I should have bought a jointer/open planer before my thickness planer. Can you snap a pic next time you do this? Just to get a clearer idea? And when you say "rails" do you mean thin pieces of wood, or ??? Post all you have time for, I don't know about anybody else, but I'm getting a lot out of it.
  25. My last bike was sold with 130k on the clock, still running, and it lived on M1. The XX has been using M1 for 50k miles.
