  1. The cable does NOT disconnect from the M/C mount at least not by design. I am NOT almost 60 I am barely 50. So now that's three things today you were wrong about including your absurd and retarded opinion on the Zumo 550. I am convinced that the only reason you miss the tactile buttons is because you are used to trying to find and play with, short stubby appendages in your own pants so the 550 was merely an extension of your own sick and twisted obsessions. So....see you around 3pm on Friday...right Douche nozzle?
  2. Actually there are three connections on the end of that cable but most likely it is just connected into the power. Of the other two, one is for a 3.5mm jack input and I think there is one for the XM antenna but since it's a 660 that wouldn't be used. The end connected to the mount is a permanent connection so don't be tugging on it cuz if it comes out it it means you done broke it. Well I don't. I also like the bigger screen on the 660 and the A2DP Bluetooth support. While I respect your opinion, once again you are just wrong. :icon_duh: That's why I jumped on this one. The 665 only adds XM, which I don't use. I tried the 550 and hated it because I wound up with a smaller screen (after you discount stuff you couldn't turn off on the display) and the 550's bluetooth was designed with cell phones only in mind, not stereo playback...it was useless as an MP3 player without a serious bit of workaround. The better BT protocol will open this matter back up for consideration. That, and it's going to be a huge step up from my StreetPilot. See...now that's an informed and sensible opinion. Unlike Dave's. Tactile buttons...WTF?
  3. Well I don't. I also like the bigger screen on the 660 and the A2DP Bluetooth support. While I respect your opinion, once again you are just wrong. :icon_duh: You're like 60 years old, grumpy, and need a bigger screen and probably need A2DP (A.lways 2. D.eep/while P.enetrating?) aSSuming it's your boyfriend. ASS :icon_snooty: Fuck you...I'm not 60. The rest is all probably true though. :icon_evilgrin:

  5. THAT was a super deal! Congrats Zero. Love my 660!
  6. Just buy some bubble wrap & packing tape (The big bubbles not the teeny ones). Wrap a layer around each bottle & tape shut. You could stack them in the on the floor in the back if there's no room in the trunk. I think if five bottles of Saki can make it back from Japan in my luggage this way then you should be ok driving.
  7. It seems that V-Stroms sell quickly. I have been toying with the idea of adding one to my stable and in checking on the various forums they appear to get snapped up pretty fast.

    JB weld

I used JB Weld on one of the tabs that held a plastic side cover on my '99 Valkyrie (I think it was ABS plastic) which had some tension on it and it worked just fine. I used quite a bit though and roughed up where I wanted it to adhere. The tab was not so much "held on" by the JB weld but rather "held in" the blob of JB weld if you know what I mean. You couldn't see the repair from the outside so it didn't matter what it looked like.
  9. Wow...Goldwings have shelters? Also I would think with a Goldwing you should just have to plug your accessory into a 110V duplex outlet. Don't you have one of those in your shelter?
  10. Douchenozzle? That's a hurtful word. Hey next time we ride we can pair our Sena's and talk to each other. That's almost as good as holding hands and I will feel much closer to you. We should talk Steve into getting one so we can tell him when his blinker is on.
  11. Dave, if you just used the Sena headset the way God intended and listened to your music through the headset instead of making everyone else listen to your shitty gay music and Howard Stern through your blaring Wing speakers you wouldn't have such problems. When you stream music from the 660 MP3s to the Sena you can use the jog dial to advance or reverse songs. That way you can select whichever Justin Bieber song you want and touch yourself rather than having to touch the Zumo screen
  12. Nope...the Sena was $149.00. Bill....question. I have your exact set up. Sena, iPhone, 660. If I want to broadcast my music through the goldwing speakers can I pair the 660 with my iPhone and have the music on my iPhone play through the 660? My 660 plugs into the audio jack of the wing. So...if the music DOES stream via bluetooth from the iPhone to the 660 I can get rid of the SD card I am using for music that is in the 660. If I can do what I am asking...how do you control the music? On the iPhone or the 660? No. To the best of my knowledge the iPhone will only pair to the 660 for phone calls and to display your contact phone numbers, last call dialed etc. It won't stream music to the 660.
  13. Update - I recently learned that SENA had come out with a new version. The major difference was that the new model would accept firmware updates via a USB port that now also served as the charging port. The older version had a proprietary charging port. So I checked the website and found that for existing customers they would upgrade you to the new version for $49 (plus shipping) which includes a new 12v mobile charger and a USB cable. I think that's a pretty solid thing to do rather than make you buy the new pod for the full $117 price. It's compatible with all the old clamps. Just packaged mine up to send in for replacement. Happy!
  14. I would put the stock clutch lever back on and see if there is any change. That way you can determine whether it is the fake Pazzo that is contributing to the problem. Also, did you happen to change your oil an use something with anti-friction additives by mistake? The bottle would be marked somewhere as "Energy Conserving" ?
  15. 6 ft. lbs for clutch spring bolts sounds about right. My VTX was 6 ft. lbs and at about 7 ft. lbs, they snapped off. The FJR wants 5.8 ft. lbs. It doesn't hurt to have an inch pound torque wrench for the lower values.
  16. I would also check to make sure no critters have built a nest in your aircleaner or clogged your pipes with their winter food supplies (dog food, bird seed, nuts, etc.)
  17. Nice find. The GTL is on my short list for my next bike but I'm still going to wait until the early adopters get in some real road time and shake out the bugs.
  18. Yuasa battery in my '03 VTX was still good when I sold it this year (7 years) Yuasa battery in my '01 XX was good when I sold it in 2008 (7 years) but then the new owner had some problems after he bought it. I'm not sure if he ended up replacing it. Yuasa battery in my '99 Valkyrie was replaced right before I sold it in 2008 (9 years) but it turned out what I thought was a battery problem was a short so it may have not needed to be replaced. All of the above sat during the winter and were occasionally put on a float charger during especially long periods of cold. I've seen several posts from different forums about Walmart batteries that seemed to poop out prematurely.
  19. Not to intentionally hijack this thread but oil threads kill me. Not so much on this site because everyone here is pretty much laid back and is just as interested in tits and guns and Dave's new interest of the week. But man, ask an oil question on another M/C site and all hell breaks loose. I think because changing the oil is just about the easiest thing you can do on a bike, everybody has an opinion. Some are quite fanatical about how often they change it and what kind to use...blah blah blah. I think most spend WAAAAYY too much time thinking about it. So in the spirit of your question here is what my opinion is. Dirty oil is bad and clean oil is good. I have run both non M/C dino oil as well as stupid expensive Amsoil and the like in my bikes. For the FJR I started out with Shell Rotella 15W40 dino and then switched to Amsoil just to see if it would smooth out the shifting a bit (it did). I wouldn't use any super cheap oil but I figure as long as I stick with a name brand I'm ok. Just don't use any oil marked "energy conserving" on a wet clutch bike as that could cause clutch slippage. I agree that there is probably not a lot of real benefit with a M/C specific oil and in fact have seen some tests where the manufacturer branded stuff like Yamalube and Honda oils really are quite crappy. If I dared post something like that on another forum, this thread would go 14 pages at least. :icon_silenced:
  20. Bump for a great deal. I would buy it if I hadn't already taken that other Mossy 500 off your hands and bought a S&W M&P 9c earlier this year for my everyday carry. Nice package for someone looking for personal defense both at home and away.
  21. Nice bike. A location would help so the prospective buyer knows how far they need to travel.
  22. No sorry, the 660 doesn't support XM. You need the 665 for that. The reason I didn't go with the 665 is that my iPhone does a pretty good job of showing the weather with the Weather.com app and location services turned on and I don't listen to XM radio. I have Sirius in my car and barely use that. On the bike I prefer listening to my MP3s and loaded about 400 of them on the 660 so far.
  23. So I recently (today) upgraded from the Zumo 550 GPS to the 660 and also bought the SENA SH10 bluetooth headset based on the reviews from WebBike World, ADVRider and the Zumo Forums. This set-up is awesome! First the 660. It worked out of the box with no problems and after I made sure it worked I immediately went to the Garmin site for the latest software and firmware updates. The device loaded up with no problems. Paired it to my iPhone first try with no problems. The wider screen is great and I like the full touch screen controls much better than some of the buttons on the 550. Some great additional features over the 550 like 3D street view, "where am I?" and also the breadcrumb feature that lets you backtrack. I'm still learning all the little features. Loaded up my personal POIs which include an FJR Assistance directory (closest fellow FJR riders that will provide assistance if needed) and also all the US Yamaha dealers. Also loaded up a few dozen MP3s just to test on the 4GB Micro SD card (I think it will take up to a 16GB card). Again all went smoothly. One of the main reasons I bought the 660 was for the new A2DP Stereo Bluetooth support and as mentioned I bought the SENA SH10 headset for this. It paired with the Zumo first try without any issue. One the more appealing features of the SH10 is that you can buy the optional mount that you can plug earbuds into instead of using in-helmet speakers. I have had three different in-helmet speaker set-ups and none of the worked worth a shit at speed for listening to music. With the earbuds the music quality is awesome and I'm just using a $10 pair of JLab earbuds. So I am free of the cord that was necessary to listen to music with the 550. With the iPhone and SH10 paired to the Zumo I can hear my music, it pauses it for GPS voice prompts and pauses for incomming calls. I can see who's calling me, talk with them if a I choose or make phone calls (stopped of course) without removing the hemet. My iPhone address book, recently called numbers etc. all display on the Zumo (the 550 did this too). I'll add as a final note that the SH10 is waterproof and also has whats called a jog knob volume control and one other button that can be easily used with gloves (features that the Cardo units lack). If you want rider to passenger or bike to bike communications the SH10 also has that ability to with up to four additional units. Links: SENA SH10 ZUMO 660
  24. Thanks. Surprisingly no. They're actually about the same as stock. The greater pull back on the risers compensates for the reduced radius of the bars over stock.
  25. Yeah, you're probably right and you would probably only LOVE that bike for about a week...maybe two. But if you know anyone who might want a "look at me" bike I'll throw in a do-rag and a shorty helmet. I've grown out of that phase.
