Hookman49 Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Well had a new chain put on yesterday. Went with the RK. Brought the bike to my local guy and he put it on in a flash. $95 installed. Is that good? Anyway he showed me how to do it, but I would need the rivet tool to do it. Are they expensive? Is it worth buying one, or just pay the $15 to have him put it on each time? What do you think? Ken Quote
John01XX Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 You changed the chain but not the sprockets ? Quote
Hookman49 Posted August 27, 2003 Author Posted August 27, 2003 Put new sprokets on about 8,000 miles ago. Still look great. Ken Quote
vetteman Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 that is too cheap. even buying the correct chain off the net is more expensive, i think i paid around 130ish for my did. you really need to check with him and find out what chain he used. maybe it is just one hell of a good deal, or maybe he used an inferior chain  . we all hope its just a good deal  . SwampNut Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I'll take 20 at that price. My dealer's cost is a lot more than that for the heavy-duty one (530GXW I think). Quote
Hookman49 Posted August 28, 2003 Author Posted August 28, 2003 I think it was a 530XSO but will have to check with him. I know it was not the 530GXW. Ken Quote
SwampNut Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Check what it is and the load rating. Breaking a chain usually has some pretty disastrous consequences. Quote
DaveK Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 I have a new GXW Heavey Duty in the box waiting to go on....It cost me 140-ish. Quote

Ken I just bought the DID tool--$115 but worth every penny---Yes it easily punches out the old link Quote
