PGA XX Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Is there a big difference besides HP being synthetic? I was thumbing through my service manual and it recommends GN 4. Holy crap...I've been using HP. Ron Ayers sells the GN for like $3, and the HP for $6. If the GN is what I'm supposed to be using, I'll save the money  2002 w/ 8800 mi. Thanks, Lance P.S.- Yes, I did research this topic and couldn't find anything on this, although I'm sure you guys are sick of the fucking oil questions  Quote

SwampNut Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 The Rotella synth is fantastic also. Not as long a track record as M1, but still known to be safe. Quote
RodeRash Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I have been using Rotella in my bikes, and Rotella synthetic in my truck. They are all still running. Quote
Warchild Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Concur that the Shell Rotella synthetic is definitely some Good Shit. http://www.rotella.com/products/rotella_t_..._synthetic.html Quote

blackhawkxx Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 synthetic in my truck I haven't used synthetic in my truck and it's still running but then being a Ford, it will run forever unlike some gm junks around. Quote
SwampNut Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Same with the van. 141k miles, doesn't leak or burn a drop. I see the same-year GM vans sold as junk. Quote
REXX Posted July 12, 2003 Posted July 12, 2003 Strange...my '91 S10 pickup has 236,000 miles on it's 4.3L V-6. Doesn't leak or burn oil either. Quote
SwampNut Posted July 12, 2003 Posted July 12, 2003 Did GM put their truck chassis in any vans? I bought this one specifically because it's the truck drivetrain and chassis. Or maybe GM van buyers just beat the shit out of them. They were all junkers. Quote
