xracer99
Hi Members, I have a XX 2000 and just did a repair of the coroded diagnostic plug on the bike. All seems fine after, but i noticed something which i cant think of is related to that job. And i cant really remember when i last worked since i just taken out bike from storage for 2 years. The problem is the loop controlling the Horn, Blinkers, Dimmer and Brake light. Its absolutely dead. I've checked and measured the fuse in that loop. Its fine. I also measure 12V on the pin there when turning on ignition (fuse out). I disconneted the blinker relay also to try the Horn. No life at all on any of these components. I dont really have a clue where to look further now. It cant really be a spesific button which has bad contact. Its same problem front brake and rear brake. No sign of the brake light. Not even the Horn works. Can anyone point me in a direction before i consider taking it to a shop. This is a EU bike with HIDSS also. Btw. is it also so that the 99 model has regular bulbs while the 00 has all LEDS? Edited May 19, 2021 by xracer99
fizzy
I would revisit the loom fix. Sounds like a bad ground, and the loom fix is basically a ground junction block. Try adding a ground wire to the ground terminal on the horn (green wire) as a test.

Yes, i agree playing with the Horn is the easiest to access to test. I wil also check more on the fusebox. The W/G wire there supplies postive to most of those components. Could be there is something broken underneath there maybe. Since no sign of signal both forward or to the rear og the bike, that W/G wire is at least one of the commom signalpoints. The loom fix should be ok according to my measurements as long as i've connected it the right way. I joined all the 10 green ones from the one side, then the 3 white, 3 yellow and 3 green on the other. 3 groups. Thanks for the help, btw 👍 Edited May 19, 2021 by xracer99
superhawk996
IIRC, all of the wires at the test connector have to be joined. If you made several separate bundles and didn't join them all I think it won't be right. It's been a long time since I did this repair or researched it so do check. If looking inside the plug opposite side of where wires are, the you can see how they should be joined. There one side is joined (10). The other actually has groups of 3, 4 and 3, but the one with 4, has a unused pin. So 3 groups of 3 wires are joined there. I recall people saying they had the FI light come on when hitting the brakes which makes me think that the brake light is sharing ground with the other stuff.
