Well, consider this part. While people may come here looking to buy an XX, the vast majority of those here already have one. Or two, or three....

So while we appreciate knowing what's out there for sale, and can tell others who have an XX interest about it, this is only a small percentage of the buying public. Craigslist, local forums, eBay, and traditional means such as posted signs, newspaper or local sales flyers still reach many other folks who didn't at first realize they needed an XX!

+1

I for one if you where a bit closer and had a buyer for mine I would think about it.

Looks very clean with the two pictures that show the bike.

For me and I am far from a bike whore would question a bike that is ten years old with such low miles. One would be is like why in the hell did you not drive it. Then you question same tire as when you bought it, did it sit with fluid in it for years on end, etc. I rather by a bike with miles on it because 9 times out of ten rider tend to take proper care of their bike.

Oh sorry for the thread jack:)

Nice bike.

Just to add my 2 cents and hopefully help you out...

Ten to twelve years ago I bought a 1983 Honda Ascot FT500 because I loved those bikes as a kid and it only had 4600 miles on it. I did not think about it sitting without being ridden and all that I just though... SWEET LOW MILEAGE and then I found out the aweful and expensive truth about repairs on something that was not regularly ridden.

I think people are a little scared of something that low mileage.

If you go to post it on craigslist or on ebay or something you might want to say something in your post about the steps that you took to make sure that the gaskets did not dry out or if the tires on it are not 5+ years old because tires start to suck after they sit for a little while. Age is definitely a tire's enemy.

Hope this helps you.

Joe

I wouldn't be a bit afraid of this pristine time capsule.

Its been in a heated garage, is a non-carbed bike, had the oil changed every year, and "asking $5500" means there is probably a little wiggle room on the price. Set of tires is less than $300 if you do it yourself or have a connection-no biggie.

Also the XX is probably the last bike we will see Honda build in this category. Lots of miles ahead, and lot of bike for the money.

I have a '99 in my collection with similarly low mileage - and no issues. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up such a pristine example as this... in fact I'd be sorely tempted if circumstances were otherwise.

I was toying with the idea of getting another XX for the other home in San Antonio, but it seems the fates doth conspire - too slim of coin and too fat of geography - that'd be a 1600 mile round trip I just can't make happen right now...
