Coolant

Furious

Recommended Posts

I'm heading to AR this week for a few days of Roads and Relaxation. :icon_twisted:

I was trying to check my coolant level and God help me I couldn't see the coolant level for the life of me through that milky white plastic. I ended up filling it to where I could just see come coolant at the bottom of the filler neck.

Does that sound like I overdid it?? Like I said, I can't see anything in that tank.

Thanks in advance.

I did the same thing. I filled mine to the bottom of the neck, went for a couple rides and when i parked i had coolant coming out the overflow hose. Took it to Honda dealer to check before my trip to WV next week. They said it can't be filled higher than the cold line when cold or it will push coolant out. Has been running fine and no more coolant leaks so far.

When I do a coolant change or top off...if I remember correctly with the bird...I would put a flashlight up to the container and voila...you can see the level no problem.

Something like that.

Thanks Dave!

I wish I had read this before I sat out in the garage contemplating how to get it right. I came up with the same thing. I used a squirter from an extra bottle and used it to empty into an empty water bottle, then checked with the light.

Everything is up to spec.

Thanks again for all the help. :icon_biggrin:

Jake another thing you can do is to get a piece of clear tubing and put it down into the tank until it hits bottom. Then put your finger over the end and pull it up. You will be able to tell how much coolant you have. You only need about two inches in the tube.

I was on that track at first, I just didn't have any tubing long enough. My first attempt was with a really long straw (Here, hold my beer), but after a few straws full I thought better of it and noticed the sprayer.

You'r talking about the overflow tank aren't you?

isn't it designed to let excess coolant escape through the overflow pipe.....................if it's overfilled it will eventually level out.

I would be more worried about it being to low ................

I am a kiwi tho......

2 cents
