blackhawkxx
Would any one happen to know, on the new RR, right before the muffler, there is a flapper valve with two cables hooked to it. What is the purpose of it? None of the slip-ons (that I know of) has this. Is it for low rpm throttle response? Would you lose you low end by putting a slip-on it? Thanks. Violent J
It must work like Yamaha's EXUP valve. I believe it gives the bike more bottom and mid-range. On a Yamaha, there is a servo connected two the other end of the cables and it plugs into the brain box. If you unplug it from the brain box, the bike runs like shit, plug it back in, runs fine. So if you do take the valve off, you might not want to disconnect the servo, just the cables.
demon
I think the Akrapovic slip on for it that is coming out soon hooks up after this valve. friend of mine's getting this setup for his 1000RR
Sauron
That flappers been on the bikes since the 929 (Called the HTEV valve). It and the flapper in the airbox are engaged below 6500-7000 RPMS and then open afterwards. They are designed to give the bike better MidRange. Most of the 929 and 954 slip ons went after the valve so it was retained. Havn't looked @ the 1000RR's setup, but I think most slipons would keep the HTEV. Full system usually replace it, and you'll want to get a PC or a Yosh box to remap the system with the full. Mark
