  1. wow, that's one stiff spring, but I guess being in the sport touring category, it needs to be that stiff for two up riding and/or hardbags, etc. My spring on my Ohlins for my racebike is 11kg, and I just replaced the stock 9kg spring on it. I would just phone Ohlins USA at 828-692-4525
  2. Send me you email and I'll send the pages from the shop manual from my aprilia. It has photos. It also has the 43 mm U Showa forks and its the same damn proceedure. I just replaced the prilers innards with the same racetech stuff I bought for my bird. Same part numbers and all straight from the website.
  3. unless you're at a track with a noise restriction, I wouldn't worry about the added noise from going to an aftermarket sprocket. I changed mine out, and didn't notice anything appreciable. Swampie is referring to the rubber dampeners on the stock sprocket and no I didn't put a noise metre on it before and after. I like the 16 front for second gear wheelies and a little bored of the straight ahead mach 3 speed the bird's capable of. It still goes plenty fast. Never paid any attention to gas mileage.
  4. I run a PCII with a K&N and Micron full system. Didn't dyno it before and after, but it's obvious I'm pulling more out of it. The micron map runs really rich so not so good gas mileage with my setup.
  5. I like my Micron full system. Geez, anything's better than the stock exhaust.
  6. I'm not sure what they call it, but it's the only 4-2-1 full system for the bird. It does not have the cross overs as the photo on their web of their race system does. I have the oval carbon fibre can. Not a good fit at the corner of the fairing, but easy to fix with DEI exhaust wrap. They tell you this in the instructions. Really nice can!
  7. the micron full system has the stopper on the collector (I actually wondered what the hell it was for since I removed the centre stand long before installing the exhaust).
  8. I simply mounted mine on top of the ECU with the velcro provided (but my bird's never seen the rain). I've seen pics of one of the guys who fabricated a cover. I think Northman or Toxic or CalcXX, can't remember for sure. Search undertail and I think you'll find it.
  9. here's one with a cover installed...doesn't look the same, but I don't think the add shows anything different for each model. anyone know who's bird this is? Beauty and the proper colour... isn't the bird's stock cover plastic?

did you happen to weigh the kit before you installed it? Inqiring minds want to know.
  11. Nice review of wheels in the February issue of Sport Rider. For those that are interested (I didn't want to revive the post about these wheels...again), they mentioned that the machining marks on the carrozzeri wheel was noticeable, or something like that (I read it quickly at the corner store...I'm sure someone will pipe in and quote what they said). The sidebars are interesting. Not quite so much detail as in the thread, but who'd want to read that sort of stuff anyways?

it does have a weird proportion to it. The pixels don't look doctored when you zoom in with photoshop. I'm just wondering why so cheap compared to everything else. Too good to be true?
  13. exactly what I meant to type...wow redbird, what a great guy to clear that up for me! I was at work and in a hurry.
  14. never done the 'ebay thing', but should start as it would save me some bucks. If I wasn't being such a goof about the weight of my bike, I'd go for it, but there must be something out there. You've got a great idea and will probably follow your advice in the end. Thanks!
  15. Hey mechanic, since you're so close to me (I'm in Vancouver too), want to have a go for me? Not my cup of tea
  16. yes...right side...left side comes off.
  17. anyone know who makes an exhaust hanger for the bird? (I'll definitely check with beezer on the IRXXA site in the UK). Thanks! :?:

very nice!!!!! but this is adding to the severly poor quality of this thread as the guy trying to kill his dog with nitrous has pointed out. Will somebody weigh their spiegler brake kit (9 lines) and kill this thread.
  19. Got my race tech stuff in yesterday. Can't wait to get it on. Northman: have your bits arrived yet? Are you installing them yourself? (to hell with the PM stuff, hey) Enjoyed reading the other posts about front forks and changing springs and valves. Article on the website was helpful. I'm going to have a loal high performance shop do this work. They are mspeedperformance in Vancouver (BC). Any local Vancouverites know these guys? Bike is really starting to take shape. A real transformation from the stock bird. I think she'll be the best of both worlds when I'm finished (I thought it was when I started).
  20. What Northie says makes sense. If I was a good midnight mechanic, I would have put the studs and nuts on just like that, but I'm not. 3 of my studs came out when I replaced my stock system with the micron system. On my next service call, I asked the honda guys to check them out for me and they said they were fine. Maybe I got lucky. I left the gasket alone too. Really bad mechanic. Since then, I've sharpened up somewhat.
  21. it's my fault. I read through when I was looking for wheels and was laughing my bag off at the dry humour of some of the members. Was curious if anyone bought them.
  22. no, I went to your photo section and you were running 39 on the oval dirt track and noticed you run 39 on the RC51. Anything special about 39? Nice riding technique. You're looking good man!
  23. still wearing 39 hey Randy... those wheels would look mighty fine on that RC51 of yours!
  24. hey that looks like roadrash in the picture in the link above!
