    Chain Time

Remember that if you order a chain 'package', as I was told by White Buffalo, which includes a DID ZVM2 chain, a front and rear sprocket, the chain came with 112 links. I had to cut 2 links off. When I ordered, I specifically asked for a 110-link chain but the package includes a 112-link from AFAM! So if you don't want to go through the trouble of cutting off 2 links, tell them that it's a 112-link in the package and you want a 110-link. -mike-
  2. Whatever you do, don't get those junk ear plugs they make at the motorcycle show. I got one made last year for $50 and after first ride, I threw it away and went back to the yellow foam plugs.
  3. I got mine from White Buffalo too. The owner runs the shop himself so the service was top. Shipping was fast and price was great. I got the DID 530 ZVM2 chain and a set of front+rear sprockets.
  4. - Are you the original owner? - what weight and what kind of riding was the shock set up for? Thanks.
  5. Just to be safe, I used blue loctite on the bolt.
  6. Are you saying that the whole bike is in pieces and in boxes? Why did you take it apart and put it in boxes?
  7. AAA will cover bike towing only if you buy the optional RV/Motorcycle. It's only $26 additional a year and I don't have to buy AMA to have bike towing.
  8. Wow! You're truly a master mechanic!
  9. I believe Kisan's P115W is the one you need for the 97 XX. Wire it to the high beam then turn on the pulse when your high beam is on. soundrider.com has it on sale for $99.95 and free shipping (http://store.mm411.com/catalog/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&theParentId=180&id=821) -mike-
  10. I really like the pic of your dog sitting in the back. Very cute. :-) With my 3 bags, I did go up to 130 mph once and it was still stable. I weight my bags, especially the side bags, just to make sure that they are pretty much balance left and and right to improve handling. Even with 3 bags, the total weight is still lower than having a passenger for sure :-)
  11. Thank you all, for your inputs. I'll be on a 4-day ride from Los Angeles -> Lake Havasu -> Laughlin -> Flagstaff -> Sedona -> Prescott then come back so I have quite a bit to carry (tools / clothing / rain gear etc...). From what you all said, I think I'll be fine with my top case about 35 lbs and the side cases about 30 lbs each. - mike -
  12. I guess that'll make it wheelie in 4th gear... cool! :-)
  13. Hi all, I have a set of 3 Givi cases on my 97 XX. What's the weight limit for all 3 cases? I mean, how heavy can I safely pack the 3 cases, without a passenger? Thanks. -mike-
  14. There's a stripped down XX in my garage, I'll photograph the three adjustment points this evening. Please do. That'll be greatly appreciated.
  15. I believe you're good. For the first few hundred miles, just keep checking/measuring the distance of the master link side plates to see if they moved. They shouldn't.
  16. bpg, have you got your shock? If yes, I need one too... cbrxxquad, how much do you want for it? What year was the shock from? Thanks. -mike- 1000 miles on my 2000 and I payed 100, make me an offer $50?
  17. Hard to tell by the picture but does the valve hang lower than the header? Also shouldn't the on/off valve be up top? It's above the header. As to the position of the on/off lever, there is no control where it's positioned... Here is another pic:
  18. I have the shop manual but it isn' t very clear. Where are the 3 shafts located? The manual said "turn until resistance is felt then back off 1 graduation". What's 1 graduation? How did you turn the shaft after loosing the bolts? Thanks. -mike
  19. What was the measurement **before** you staked it? My new DID ZVM2 pin was 0.208" and I staked it to 0.220" (the manual specifies 0.217-0.228)
  20. I installed the fumoto valve. Here is a pic. Push down that level (spring loaded), turn it forward and the oil start to run out.

  22. Yes. It fits the Honda OEM filter, the Mobil-1 108 and the Purolator for the XX.
  23. I bought 1 of these oil filter wrench and it's perfect for removing/installing the oil filter on the XX in the tight space: http://chriscoacc.com/webPages/OilFilterWrench.htm
  24. They are absolutely the best. I'm using a set for the last 100k miles and they still look like new! :-)
