  1. Akra!! As far as weight savings I dropped 17 lbs. with slip ons and the centerstand is good for another 4lbs. I imagine a full system would offer even greater weight savings.
  2. Some of those jet kits are just a Dyno jet kit by another name. Both Factory Pro and Dyno Jet kits have been used by forum members. Most think the Factory Pro is simpler to put in and does a great job. I used the Factory jet kit with 145 mains and their needles. K&N filter and Akra slip-ons.
  3. Welcome Get a jet kit with those cans, you will be surprised at the difference it makes.
  4. I have 145 mains with Akra slip-ons. I used the Factory Jet kit. Welcome to the board!
  5. The octane ratings in the U.S. are different. I think you need an octane of 91 RON. Here we use a combination of RON and MON octane and 87 is sufficient.
  6. Uh-Oh don't turn this into an oil thread
  7. If it isn't a problem with the tune-up and you are looking for mileage instead of low end punch you could try going 1 tooth larger on the countershaft sprocket.
  8. I picked up a slight wobble with the Avons also. It isn't the same all the time, depends on the road surface I think. I have had them on for 6k and it has been there since the start.
  9. IMO the Fender Eliminator isn't worth it. They are overpriced for what you get. I put one on and am less than happy with the fit(97XX). If the undertail that John is looking into works out I will probably go with that.
  10. Your road surfaces must really suck. I have 5k on my Avons with over half of that with a passenger and I think I will get at least another 2k out of the back. The front still looks good.
  11. The rear break tends to feel weak with Linked Brakes.
  12. A friend of mine just put some Scorpions on his SuperChicken. They look great and seem to be well made and they sound better than the Yoshis that he used to have.

    Undertail

Something looks odd in that pic. The hugger looks like a photoshop fix.
  14. Seems like all the exhaust are overpriced for what they are. I have heard the 2 Bros CF slipons and they sound great, deep mellow you know its a big bore bike. The Yoshis look good and have a quieter sound at lower RPMs but really scream at higher RPMs. Akra CF slipons have a little different sound all there own. Price wise the Yoshis are about the least expensive of any that I looked at with the 2 Bros. in the middle and the Akras the most expensive at 1200 bucks list. I never got the chance to look at Staintunes or Scorpion. You might try here http://www.hammythecanman.com
  15. There's supposed to be something to hold the tool kit down  mine never had one
  16. I would shim the needles and see how you like it first. It might be all you need to get what you want. After you have the carbs off a couples times it gets easier.

    Rejetted Birds

Sea Foam is a do-all gas additive that seems to be gaining popularity around here. I have heard good things about it......we will see. I have used Xylene for an octane booster/cleaner in the GN with good results.

What jets and settings are you using? What elevation do you ride at? What other engine mods? I recently rejetted my 97 with a Factory jet kit. I haven't put very many miles on yet but it seems to run much better. It will either spin the tire or pull a wheelie in 1st gear. After I ride some more I may need to fine tune it but for now this is what I have. 145 mains stock pilots clip in second positon from top Akrapovic slip ons K&N filter 1100' elevation I looked down the intake runners when the carbs were off and it looked like there was quite a bit of carbon on the valves so I am running some Sea-Foam thru it now.
  19. It will give you more options for your riding position on those looooong rides.
  20. There was a thread about batteries in the last few weeks....try a search for more info. Mine had a Wal-Mart battery in it when I bought it and I have had no probs with it but some think the Yuasa is best. It shouldn't need acid added to it after the intial unless there is something wrong.
  21. I would start with 2.5 turns out and see how it runs. Mine seems to be best at 2.5.
  22. Anyone tried Heli bars for the V-tec VFR? I would think that would be a substantial difference from stock.

    My project

I talked to a guy that did his own delinking and it added up to 4lbs. of stuff he took off. The center stand is good for another 4lbs.
  24. Looks nice! The more gauges you have the easier it is to tune a turbo motor
  25. Thanks for the ideas guys. I put a fender eliminator on and the stock signals look kinda big and goofy.
