  1. if you need a grabrail, I have a silver one... bought it from Joe for the cost of shipping, was going to do something with it and some LEDs but lost the motivation, I'd pass it along for the cost of shipping as well, just let me know... shoot me a PM -John
  2. sorry i haven't taken the pics yet... it is built very nicely. i like the fact that the lower portion is opaque unlike the factory. In the downmost position, feels almost just like stock. in the upright most position, I can ride with my shield up if I lean over a bit and no wind in the face. i dont have to put my face on the tank like with the stocker i would estimate that it raises the airflow by no more than 4 inches, probably comperable to a saeng addon or a high double bubble. I think the tall touring screens out there would move the airflow up higher, but its nice to be able to return to a stock flow on a mater of seconds of course they say not to do while riding, but its cake to adjust the position with one hand while on the go when it is in the high position, it sucks if you sit upright at highway speeds... the blast is right at my neck and the wind is very load, fyi im 5'-11" I will get pics soon... oh, and no need for any nylon spacers -r3ck
  3. sorry I'm a lil slow.. Ill go get the camera right now... post my thoughts along with the pics no later than tomora... -John
  4. Just got it... took it for a ride (after I installed it)... if its not set to its upright most position I get the blast right in the helmet... Nice quality... perfect fit... I'll take some pics tomora if anyone's interested... -r3ckl3ss
  5. All of these tire posts make me a bit tire happy... I have decided to order a new set and REALLY like the idea of doing it myself... anyone have any advice on where to order the needed tools... and what is really needed... I have looked a bit into tireqwik as someone on the board has the standard kit http://www.tireqwik.com/tireqwik/pricing.html if thats all I need for 160 bucks... changing tires myself will pay for itself after just a few years, not to mentio the piece of mind of knowing that I did it... right. Another tool I'll need is a torque wrench with a big ass socket for the rear axle.
  6. be careful using resistors lying around though... most are 1/4 or 1/2 watt only... here's an 8 ohm resistor, close enough to the 7 previously suggested... http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...%5Fid=271%2D120 its good for 20 watts, perfect as 12 volts across 8 ohms draws 1.67 amps, giving you a load of exactly 20 watts.... although like previously mentioned, most of the light's duty cycle is in the off position. Assuming its on half of the time and then only for less than 30 seconds, a 10 watt resistor would be okay... just might get a bit warm if left on for a long time. -John

    H.I.D Lights

I was a little concerned with turning them on and off more than need be because I am sure that cycling them is more wear and tear than them just being on... I took a signal off of the ignition to a relay so the low beam comes on and stays on with the key. It does not turn off with the starter... I am sure the purpose of the light going off when starting is to free up the battery for the starter, but she doesnt mind the little 35 watts (all of 3 amps-ish). I feel a little warmer and fuzzier knowing that I am saving one cycle of starting and stopping every time I go out... -John
  8. one last note... the metal "tool" does fit between the pipes and the filter. to wrench it off, you need to reach underneath with a 17mm open ended box wrench and slip it on. You can only rotate a little bit, and then slip off, rotate the wrench so the offset head is the other way, slip it on and turn... after a few iterations, it comes off by hand, and then comes the oil all over the hand... randomly, i changed mine today too...
  9. If ya cant get it off... take a ride into Kennewick and I'll let you use the metal tool that slips over the filter that I bought from SHumates... The bastards only sold the filter with the wrench a few months ago, so I had to buy both... I think they cost me like 20 bucks.... anyways, lemme know if ya wanna use it... -John
  10. I wasn't really concerned that they wouldn't work because the lens is clear, my concern was whether the clear lens housing internals are different than the stock housing... if I rip the guts out of the clear housing from John, is the board thats intended for the factory housing gonna fit in properly... is the clear housing from clear alternatives identical to the stock housing, save color and the fact that the CA leds were siliconed in there... -John
  11. I already bought the clear alternatives tail from John... I wonder how this would work w/ the clear tail... since it already has the leds in it, it would probably have to be gutted... or use the clear lens with the factory gousing and the leds from this kit... gets expensive fast... -John
  12. for frost heaving... you just need to get below the frost line... In Upstate NY, the code required that for decks, you had to get down 36"... frost line somewhere around 30"... here in Kennewick, WA I am sure it can't be more than a foot or so... your Town Hall surely knows but then again, maybe you don't want to ask them 'cause they might require a permit -John
  13. Just an FYI and semi related... I sent an email to dynojet tach support to confirm... and they responded that it is not possible to convert a PCII map to a PCIII map... -r3ckl3ss
  14. see this thread... http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1105 and then more importantly... http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4625 -r3ckl3ss

  16. Thanks for the positive words Sean... listen to me, you'd think something serious had happened to me... when you bitch about the little things, it shows you how lucky you are that their aren't bigger things to bitch about. Hope I didn't just jinx myself... What makes it even more frustrating is that his webpage NEWS section was just updated yesterday... you would think that if you could take the time to update your page, you could at least check your email.... on a positive note, Discover card said that if nothing does get shipped, they will take care of the charge... so at least I won't be out any money. I'll just have to look somewhere else for the lights... fingers crossed, John
  17. allright... I've calmed down now after Joe reassured me a bit about the situation... To distract myself, I'll ask... what temp bulbs did everyone else buy?
  18. used my Discover card... bought right from his site... I prolly ought to give them a call... I imagine he WAS reputable... I believe ApolloXX bought from him... or at least recommended him...
  19. ordered a single 5200k kit...
  20. and to make it even better: http://contact.ebay.com/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?...sted=misterjung Yes, that link states "User Suspended"... I am so happy now!!!!
  21. Ordered a kit from misterjung.com based on the recommendations here last Thursday... was really anxious so I ordered overnight delivery. Get email confirmations when ordering... great! Monday, no word... so I send an email, saying that I actually wanted another one and could I add to the order if it hasn't shipped... Get an email Tuesday saying my order has been recieved (original order that was made Thursday). Try to call the phone number listed, get the voicemail for some guy Allen, but the mailbox is full... sent more emails... called more... Ordered a week ago, paid for overnight shipping... can't get ahold of anyone... WTF? Did anyone else have to deal w/ this bullshit? I order lenses from John and he goes the extra mile to check to make sure they made it... this fook won't even listen to his voicemails or check his email!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! If I had known this was gonna happen, obviously I woulda bought somewhere else and had it installed already! -one pissed off John
  22. I dont even know what I bought... is that a clear lens for the taillight... or is it an entire new assembly? If it is just the lens... any tricks to taking the red one off and sealing the clear one up tight? Thanks.... -John -not to worry on the pics, I'll be all over them......
  23. Jette, Whereabouts is the factory in WA? r3ckl3ss

    190 mph

Nice day in Southeast WA... long clear stretch of government owned property w/ no cars visible for over 3 miles... only had the balls to get up to an indicated 151... If any of you really have OPENED her up all the way, then you deserve the name reckless... 'cause that sh|ts crazy.... maybe when it gets a little warmer and less windy, i'll bring my other set of balls out of hibernation and then go for a ride...
