  1. I have a 2610 for 2yrs now and i use it on my XX and my cages....it is the shiznit hands down. If you have something like a chatterbox you can even plug the guidence voice into it. Excellent unit easy to use no issues i have found. stick with the compact memory and not the micro drive units...
  2. The chain is obviously stretched....change both chain and sprokets
  3. Sounds like its the o-ring on your plunger and if so you need to replace it before it lets go. You should be able to just order a replacment from your dealer, its probably a kit. Try this link http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_0351/fr_...580&parent=5570
  4. It might, it's probably your cct if it happens during the same part of the rev range as described above. I changed mine at just over 11k and again at 21k. It gets worst deccelerating and it sounds like marbles in your valve train.
  5. Well I guess I won't have to worry then since mine is a 2k, as far as my dealer goes I do all my own work except for tire moutning. I try and keep a good relation with them and it's paid off in that I borrow a special tool once in a while without any fuss. I feel confident enough that my service manager would let me know about a recall if he was aware....now being aware is a different subject all together.
  6. I'm the original owner of my y2k bird and I have never received anything mentioning this. I see my service manager every few months for odd's and ends and he hasn't said anything either. I'll ask him next time but nothing as of yet.
  7. I'm still laughing about the not turning at 90mph comment. Does he like to ride slalom courses at that speed? My bird does fine for what it is when cranked over at 90. I'm of the same opinion as Rockme
  8. You might want to see if one of your brake rotors are warped. It's probably the bearing but I have had warped rotors cause a noise as the warped side moves across the pad. The brakes actually felt fine when i was on them but upon further inspection I came across a skunked rotor.
  9. Dude what are you talking about sub par, have you seen the issues other manufacturers have had in the same time span as compared to Hondas. The FI birds run hot...but they don't have an over heating issue. The bike has a big lump of a motor and it's pretty much sealed up in that bodywork. If your really that concerned try adding some water wetter.
  10. I've been running pilot sports for the last 2yrs and been very happy with them. I get about 4500 out of a rear and probably 7 out of a front. I don't think the bike handles bad for what it is, giant and bulky. I just got a new set of pilot powers that I'm going to spoon on. When I get some milage on them I'll post some feedback.
  11. I've been running the pilot sports on both my XX and 51 and have been totally happy with them. I rode a few bikes wearing Avons and felt what your talking about and it seemed to be consistant theme. I just ordered some pilot powers for the bird and will report back on how they hold up milage wise. I have a 3-4k trip coming up when I get back from the Laguna next weekend.
  12. Dude is that some kind of sick come on line you use? Cock and bleed this... :flamethrower:
  13. Make sure the pads aren't COCKED! Then BLEED it with new fluid!
  14. Thanks guys I ordered a set today!
  15. I'm going to buy some pilot powers and was looking around at prices. Anyone have a good dealer they would like to recommend? I have used a bunch in the past and been mostly happy but I'm always on the lookout for cheaper
  16. Just in case you weren't sure yet and were waiting for the definitive word....it's an Erion. Hehehe
  17. Griffxx ask your girl if I'm trying to compensate ...hehehehe And yeah it's not an XX although I do own one, it's better it's a 51. Anywho I love both bikes but I didn't have any XX pics on my work box to fool with so I tossed up the 51. Thanks for the feedback JB, does it show any signs of wear at this point?? I'm probably going to order them but I figured it would be worth asking the forum folks.
  18. Hey guys I wanted to toss this question out there for anyone that has used the new Michelin pilot power tires. I have been running the Pilot sports and been very very happy with them. Great in the rain, excellent grip in the dry, come up to temp fast and very predictable. Seems like they are doing away with them and using the pilot power tires which are supposed to be even softer compound yet have the some longevity. Can any one who has had both comment on this? I normally get about 4500 out of a rear and 7k out of front. I'm not one of those guys trying to get 10k out of tires and sacrificing grip so I'm not overly concerned about mileage except I take a 3-3.5k mile trip once a year and don't want to get caught out with a bad rear. I've also thought about the pilot roads and rode a beemer with a set the other day for about 250 miles. They seemed OK but they were on a RS and it was draggin hard parts all over the place. It's no XX so it's hard to compare how the roads will work on a bird. All info as usual is much appreciated.
  19. Well Steve was kind enough to send me the mount off his bird that he just sold and I have to say it's the shiznit! He had got it from stem stand but when I called they gave me the run around and said they would have to try and make another one. Anyway this one is perfect in that it mounts in the center (replacment triple nut) and does not block any gauges at all. I bought the Garmin motorcycle cradle and attached it to the mount plate and it's a done deal. I would recommend this mount to all except the people at SS don't have any in stock and didn't break their arse trying to get back to me.
  20. Well I should be in good shape. I usually use the old seal and a piece of pvc and have been lucky enough to not have any issues. Thanks for the info.
  21. I'm going to replace a weepy seal I have on the Bird. I have done a ton of fork work on other bikes but I was wondering if I'm going to need any special tools on this job. I have had to make a few specialty tools for other bikes and was wondering if I'll run into the same issue on this one.
  22. Does anyone have a pic of either the stem stand or the ram solution? I called stem stand the other day and they were kind of sketchy about a product. They said they would have to make one up and I'm still waiting to hear from them. I'm looking to go the center stem mount route. Thanks
  23. Hey Steve did you get my email about sending pics? Thanks for the info Byrd..I give them a call.
  24. I browsed thru the web site and was unable to find the stem stand for the XX only the side mount unit. Did I miss something???
  25. Hey guys I don't post too often so as far as I know the answer might already be here. My question is this, I just bought a Garmin 2610 and want to mount it on my bird. I see plenty of people make mounts for it but I really want one that centers it. I found this one mount but it's seems to only be available in the UK http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/pr...ts/?product=184 Does anyone have one and if so what do they think of it? Does anyone have something similar and can I get it in the states? Any help is much appreciated
