  1. I have hypermiled on fumes more than once. The Excursion ran dry on the freeway once while reading between 1/4 and E. I managed to get off the freeway and just a couple feet from the top of a little hill that woulda let me coast to a gas station, so close and yet so far. Then I discovered how common it is for the pickup foot in the tank to be broken on an old 7.3PS. Second time I ran out early was when I discovered that the Dorman replacement isn't very good. In it's defense I think I pumped gas into it shortly after the replacement so that mighta been the killer, it swelled and the valve fell out allowing it to suck air through the side.
  2. Possibly, or maybe more? At that speed the converter's locked and it's lumbering along at under 1300RPM, no boost and very little drive pressure so it *should* be super efficient. It's the minimum legal freeway speed, I'll try that next time I go to Arizona. Not.
  3. That's way better than stock from what I've read. And guessing it's more than your gas truck did. I'm tempted to see what my 7.3 PS could do at 65, but 80+ feels too good so I deal with the 16-17 MPG. From what I've read it should do over 20.
  4. 6.4 + hot tuning=kaboom. If the tuner is just to support a DPF delete cool, if it's a power enhancer it could be dangerous. These are said to be pretty sensitive to timing and many tuners bump the timing to make more power. I assume any recently written tune would take that into account now that it's known, but many buyers just look for the best advertised HP numbers so maybe not. They have very adequate power in stock form, resist the temptation to hop it up. The acceleration might not be much better than your Chevy PU, it might even feel slower, but when you put your trailer/heavy load on it you'll find that it looses a lot less than the Chevy did.
  5. He's perfect, there's nothing to improve upon. I've only done one track day, RacerXX, and I'm glad I got photos of me on the track. If I'd had a video camera it woulda been nice. I've shot video of me driving stuff off-road and of others doing it. For me it's all been about capturing the memories.
  6. After giving up on you I find you quite entertaining. It's interesting watching someone who thinks/speaks like you. Your assumption that we are drawn to you like a person with Stockholm Syndrome would be is exactly as expected from you. You just keep on being you, I am enthralled by your psychosis.
  7. He's so insanely fast that the massive G forces pulled the oil off the bearing journals at redline instantly seizing it.
  8. Wouldn't you like to know. Too fucking bad, you shoulda kept up with whatever he thinks he said that spelled it out for you. And just when you think you found the answer, guess again bitch; you were wrong!
  9. He isn't human so of course he doesn't understand it.
  10. Probably not. I've seen some belts that have a deflection measurement, others a twist measurement, and probably the most precise is a sound measurement like tuning a guitar string. Since most bikes with a chain come with auto tensioners I doubt there would be a deflection spec from the manufacturer.
  11. I'm only posting it because of the miles on it, pretty impressive. Also impressive that it looks to be in good shape, tho the photos suck and might be hiding stuff. https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/mpo/d/hesperia-1997-cbr1100xx/7064380146.html
  12. No, I was just curious.
  13. Did you get that set of three, or were you just needing one all along?
  14. I've heard it can happen. I don't have to go far to see the evidence.
  15. Stators are pretty damn tough so I wouldn't be concerned that it got bumped around. If it chipped without being hit that would be concerning, I wouldn't want that shit falling off in my engine.
  16. Never. He is always right, and if you ever find yourself doubting that just ask him.
  17. The pressure in the cartridge depends on temperature, but at 70F it's not even 900 PSI so yea, not a lot. In the under tail storage of a BB on a hot day it would be lucky to hit 2500 PSI, the shit's weak, but it'll still manage to fill a tire. I guess you might be asking how much PSI it'll get a tire up to, not much. I think it takes around 6 cylinders to fully air one up. And despite it possibly having a better chance at seating a bead vs. a little compressor, it probably wouldn't be much better. Best chance of doing that without a high volume air source is explosives or volatile flammables, I usually use quick start and used carb cleaner once. I saw a video where someone used what looked like an M-80, but fireworks labeled as M-80 vary greatly in power. I don't recall any bike tires I've played with being challenging to seat, without the bike's weight on it. If it's on the bike you'll want to take the weight off of it so it'll seat more easily.
  18. You are so wrong......and 😆
  19. For airing back up there's the small compressors and also a CO2 tire filler, I think it uses the same little canisters used in BB guns.
  20. So many said "plug it and ride" that I didn't really want to be the only one, but I wouldn't do it other than an emergency fix. A patch for a tiny leak like you have, sure, because there's probably no real damage done to the structure of the tire so it should be fine. Plugging that tiny leak will require enlarging the hole, ripping out cords creating a weak spot and deformation, and I wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
  21. My first thought is to talk to them, point out that you specifically asked about it, and see what they're willing to do. I'm reminded of an old story I once heard about a guy who bought some Repsol fairings that weren't quite right. Second thought is https://www.tireject.com I haven't used it on a bike tire. I was searching for a way to salvage my Banshee's leaky old sand tires and this product kept showing up as the best tire sealant. It worked despite having a shit ton of sidewall leaks and using half the recommended amount.
  22. Wow, they even have fairing kits for the super rare CBR1000XX!
  23. I've been thinking of one of those as well. With all the shiny bits on my bike it should look pretty cool.
  24. Standard torquing procedure, tighten 'till you hear the snap and back it off quarter turn.
