  1. This is a very interesting thread -- I won't mess with it again. And where and how and with what does one install pitot tubes in a birds exaust??? That's an interesting idea that I would try.
  2. No wonder I was having such a problem following this thread, I thought these were a pair. Ok I was thinking those two thingies on the chest of a woman

    Spark Plugs

Spark plugs?????? this thing has spark plugs????? shit I wonder if my Tundra has spark plugs ? It has 110,000 miles and I haven't even thought about sparkplugs.
  5. If you aren't going to move it much go for the unisaw and either fence. I've had one that I bought used 25 years ago, still works perfect. Except that it doesn't run as well on the newer lower octane electricity.
  6. Crap -- I was just in Denver and didn't have a computer connection
  7. That does raise a question. Is a ten year old bike due for a radiator flush, the same as one would do for a car? Or are we confident that the superior coolant and water are keeping the internals perfect. No doubts about the other fluids and that reminds me, I need to change all my other vehicles brake fluid as well. Might as well make a day of it.
  8. Would it make sense to put a VERY light spring on the chain to hold it taut and out of the way? I'll be installing mine soon, but not till I see all the photos.
  9. I'd like the rack if it fits with beetle bags
  10. I just read an ad for a f-150 pickup that read 39mpg highway. 1982 magazine wonder what happened.

    fuel filter

One of the standard mods on the BMW R bikes is to add an external fuel filter. The only thing to pay attention to is high pressure connecters and installing the filter in an out of the way place. Filters are just a few bucks purolator F20011. Now I'm thinking this will be a good winter project for the bird as well. With the BMW there are supply and return hoses easy to tap into, have not looked at the bird yet.
  15. Years ago (as in the 70's) one of the things I invented was a heat treated driver to punch out rusted axles with a impact hammer. While the other mechanics were pounding away with their big hammers, I'd already have it out. So -- a driver and an air impact hammer.
  16. All of that or just get a BMW
  17. What they all said - and my bike does the same thing every time I've had more than six shots of Tequila.

    eletric gear

???????????? GROUP BUY ??????? The daytime high is 55 and the night time is in the 30s I'm ready for some heat Snow on the Beartooth pass, so my favorite ride is done for the year.
  19. I'm wondering about the wheel bearing failure. My guess is that there is an alignment problem within the wheel. Does the axle slide thru the wheel perfectly? Bearings just don't fail unless they are stressed, or not lubed. I do remember that Bmw had a problem with bearings in the late 70's when they changed brands. Try a different make. Take the bearings to a good auto parts place and ask for replacements, probably much less money. 85k zero problems oops - that's the Bmw 99 with 45k also zero problems But I'm thinking I'll have a look at the stator this winter.
  20. McCulloch You are going to love them
  21. let's see -- I have 85k on the RS and um well I really like the single side wheel set-up and no chain. I clean the wheel when it gets a new tire. That being said - the bird has the pro-oiler and I wouldn't be without it. My son rides the Hayabusa and it's fun to watch him wrestle with the spray and no center stand. And +1 on the adjustments, very few. Still the hassle of cleaning the shiny parts is a pain.
