  1. Interesting, why do you believe you need a "next goal"? I started seriously doing weight training back in 2006, which coincided with when I started doing track days. I quickly realized at my age then (49) that I had to do something to be able to continue this. I have continued to weight train and have added bicycling for better cardio ( I hate doing cardio on machines, boring). Now at 58 I continue to do this. This has proven out by my 1st physical exam in I do not know how many years last year. My doctor said I was one of the best in shape 57 year olds he has seen. My goal is to maintain my level of fitness, I do not have a "next goal". Not sure if that remotely makes any sense, but there it is.
  2. If you plan to pursue it get yourself a proper track bike. Although the XX is a fine bike, it is a dull blade on the track. Welcome to the addiction.
  3. Rick, do not neglect to post on STT, NESBA, and PRE sites for more exposure. If you do not have logins and do not feel like obtaining them, let me know and i can post your ad for you. Also WERA Classifieds is another option, although you have to pay a small fee for that. ~$3-$4.
  4. Could you run a bead of some type of silicone or masonary/concrete caulking to seal that?
  5. These guys are out in your neck of the woods, Lindemann Engineering. Jim Lindemann no longer owns it, but Ed Sorbo is well know in the racer world. http://www.le-suspension.com/
  6. Know it is bittersweet, but happy you got her sold.
  7. They are prettier in person than the pictures do them justice. Somebody needs to buy these.
  8. If the Dunlop is a 211 DOT tire , it is made to fit a 5.5 inch rear wheel.
  9. At the time it was beyond my comprehension as to what exactly Greg did. It actually had the effect of firming up the front suspension along with the oil and springs. The front on these are very mushy. He comes around here every so often, give him a ping (G2 is his user name) and see if he recalls what exactly he did. It was a number of years ago so he may or may not.
  10. You never know in this place, so I did not assume. I also had a 97 at one point and had it handling very nicely for the mountains. As you said there is no adjustment available unless you graft adjustable forks from some other bike onto the XX. On mine, proper springs, removed a shim from valve stack and 10 wt oil changed the bike dramatically up front. Greg (G2) did the fork workfor me. He discovered that the valving in the 97-98s had much larger orifices than the subsequent year models. That on top of the Penske Sport Shock made it light years better than it was in stock form.
  11. Yep, that is a higher end rear shock adjustment feature (like Ohlins). Even their normal aftermarket forks do not have a high speed compression adjustment. This is not to say that it does not exist in some super expensive race fork application. Also not sure which bike you are talking about. There are a lot of suspension tutorials on the Intertoobz or find a suspension tuner to help you sort it out.
  12. My ears were burning. It is this shock http://www.traxxion.com/penskesportshock.aspx
  13. You sure about that? Here is a link from the PC site for map downloads for the CBR1100xx 99-00. Although it shows the PCIII, I can't imagine the maps are any different between a III and a II. A call to PC should confirm that. So somebody buy this thing. http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/powercommander_maps_installs_product_buy_options.aspx?mdlyrid=102-411&make=19&model=215&make-n=Honda&model-n=CBR1100%20XX%20%2899-2000%20Euro%20Models%29&year=2000&mk=19&mdl=215&yr=2000
  14. Going to depend on the bike. Here are the mounting instructions for a 750 for example. Ohlins USA site
  15. A number of years ago, I hit a piece of plywood that put a hole in the nose of my 97. Body shop said they could not do anything with it because it is ABS plastic. Do not know if that has changed.
  16. Craig I think the easiest thing to do is find an original SV shock and replace what is on there. That would at least get you the original geometry setting for the bike. My opinion, YMMV.
  17. Stand is the one on the left in the picture. $80 + shipping
  18. I offer two-fiddy...... Bump for a nice bike and a good seller.
  19. Stefan, you do not need after market rotors unless you have extra money to burn. The stock rotors with the Vesrah pads will give you more than adequate stopping power. RJLs have a nice linear feel to them. I have always used the SRJLs which have a more aggressive initial bite to them. You cannot go wrong with the RJLs.
  20. probably too wide, this is a 6 inch wide rim, 750 takes a 5.5.
  21. So, in following your "logic" and I use the term loosely. Let's say this isn't the case and he is able to start his bike and heads out with no tail light. He gets rear-ended and killed because the drunk person that ran up behind him didn't see him because his tail light was out. His wife hires a lawyer and because he was able to start his bike with a non-functioning tail light she sues the manufacturer for millions of dollars in wrongful death suit. Then others step forward saying their loved ones also were killed because their bikes would start with a non-functioning tail light and it suddenly becomes a class action suit. This forces the manufacturer out of business. People like yourself are outraged that the simple solution of not being able to start the bike without a working tail light was not a safety feature on the bike. You take to BBSs to rail about how this could happen. Sounds kind of stupid, doesn't it?
  22. You are welcome. Glad it will work for you. To answer your question, the LFE cable provides more shielding to prevent interference, but you can use a single RCA.
