  1. Such generousity deserves rewards. For that fine offer I'll toss in the tool pouch rubber band too! And from your last post..... U r a dumb dumb head.
  2. BAdexample, I can respect your be willing to rebuild this lightly damaged bike, but I tend to doubt that as a finders fee you'll match what I hope to make on parting it out. No offense or anything, but, I need the $$$ being that I'm between leaving my last job this past thursday, and starting my own business in about 2 months or so from now. I know you understand what I mean. Besides, a few others scavangers have called tag on a bunch of the parts. Let's see first if I can buy it for what I'm planing on. Cash talks, and I need to shake some at him!
  3. Hey People! I had a brief epiphany that I wanted to share to see if there was any interest in here for me to pursue it. There is a local bike shop that I get my oil from and such and I had stopped in there this last Thursday night. There was a 99' XX in there ( I had seen it once before and spoke with it's owner, he's not too swift ) and it had been a parking lot victim. A van had backed into it from it's right side and knocked it over something good. I really didn't look it over super closely, but something is bent in the front end. It seems that the impact was at the front wheel. The front fender is trashed, L/S fairings are scratched up but not cracked, the left side mirror is gone, the side stand is bent, and the mileage is at 14K. As I was speaking with the shop owner, he told me that he gave the bike owner an estimate of something like $4,200 to repair it. Therefore , it might be totaled be the insurance company. If it's totaled by the insurance company, it should be able to be bought back by the owner. Now I know the owner has little or no mechanical ability. He won't fix it himself, he has no clue. I'm interested in buying it off of him if they total it and parting in out to the board memebers and e-bay. Of course in order to do this, I need to first contact the seller to see if he'll sell it after they total it, and then for how much. Then I need to make sure before the deal is done, that I have enough intrest in the parts that it will pay for theoutlay and a little more for my time. As for the farkles on the bike, well, like I said , I didn't look it over with a fint toothed comb, but it does have C/F slip on's ( don't remember the brand but they are brownish in color ) and the rest looks stock. The tank is dent free. The bike has a new chain and rear sprocket but it looks like cheap shit. Steel sprocket ( don't remember the brand ) and a goldish colored chain with a snap clip style master link. The last time I looked at the bike, it wasn't the cleanest example by far, but if I buy it for as much as $500, I'd like to be able to part it out for at least twice that, and hook up forum members at the same time. Who needs parts? The headlight is good , and I know John01XX is in the market for one. I know I can sell the exhaust, the seat, the wheels and rotors, the rear shock, possibly the engine and ecu to a board member, the upper bodywork ( the nose looked fine but I'll have to double check that ) , the wind screen, the fuel tank, and I don't know what else. Let's see if I can strike a deal. I'll touch base with the owner this week and post my progress. If he goes for it, I'll let you folks know what's available and it's condition.
  4. Why is it that the TQ figure on my sheet seems about 8 lbs higher than most others I have seen up here?

    Chains

Can anyone tell me if the stock 110 link chain is too short if I were to do a chain/sprocket replacement using a stock 45t rear and a 16t front? Also, what kind of longevity have you guys gotten out of the OEM rear sprocket? I tent to lube the chain every 400-500 miles, and clean it at every oil change (3K miles). At 14K miles, I'm just about at the "replace" markings on the swingarm, but at least the chain has no tight links and no excesive side play, and the rear sprocket doesn't show much if any in the line of hooking or heavy wear.
  6. Not to hijack my own thread but I just finished up reading the "Chains" threads, and now I'm dreading what's going to be due in about 4-5K miles. I adjusted my chain last night, and the indicators are getting kind of far back. I guestimated that it'll cost about $250 for chain and sprockets when the time comes.
  7. +1 on that! My last set (stock) went about 12000, then I went to Iridiums- about 500 miles so far. Little noticible improvement. How're your tires? Besides looking directly, the first clue I get about tires is when the mileage starts to go down a bit. The tires are good. PR's with about 2700 miles on them, 40 psi front, 38 rear. It may just be the Gas.
  8. To those who have had their bikes since new, or nearly new, how many miles did you get away with on the OEM spark plugs? I have been noticing that my mileage has been getting progressively worse and worse over the last couple of months. My 01' now has 14K miles on it, and the mileage is down into the low 30's with mixed driving, mostly conservative overall. I got to thinkin' that it may be time to do the plugs. I also have about 7K miles on the K&N so, it's probably time to wash it and re-oil that too. I have read on the forum here that some guys go 20-25K miles before changing them. The bike runs well, and I have not noticed a drop in power or driveability.
  9. Second gear? I've never seen a dyno run done in second gear. I know with cars, typically a 1:1 gear is what is used in dyno tuning because the mechaincal advantage in the lower gears wouldn't be accurate. Beuller? Beuller? Anyone?
  10. What are the advantages of installing this? Say on an 01' XX?
  11. Geeze, where to start? Well, from what I can see about this bike, making it lighter just isn't cheap or easy. Exhaust changes, the easiest way I can see to loose weight, but not cheap. Wheel changes, I think best bang for the buck because they are rotating weight, and you'll feel the most difference. Bar ends? Cheap change, but little weight loss. Rear sprocket, same. Dieting is going to be great both for your riding and your view of yourself, but them you might have to buy new gear that fits correctly, but didn't I just read that you love new gear at bargain $$$? Tough call.
  12. Ya' think so? I would think the oppisite and everyone would feel crappy because nobody elses #'s came close. I'm just happy my bike runs when I hit the starter button.
  13. You would need 2 reistors, one for each turn circuit. I installed them in my P/U truck when I did LED front indicators. Be warned. They get HOT! You would be better off by far changing out the flasher unit. Get in touch with John01XX, he should be able to save you a little $$$.
  14. Sometimes a bike that is heard is a bike that gives you a headache. I have D&D's and I can attest to that.
  15. That car sounds like a fun time! I can say one thing for sure though. Under the hood of that car is a plumbing nightmare of hoses and wires. My Father had an interesting RX-7 about 14 years ago. It was a stock bodied 79'' with the following. CarTech Turbo on a street ported 13B w/lowered compression, dual webers, water to air intercooler, 3" exhaust, centerforce dual diaphram clutch, Koni's all around, Recaro seats, and some other goodies. He bought the car from the orig' owner who put about $10K of work into the engine alone. Result.....440HP at 16lbs of boost. 12.6 in the 1/4 mile @110mph. On the factory sized 175-70-13 tires!! 0-60 in 4 flat. The best thing was that the car looked bone stock. No bling at all. It got stolen out of his garage that was behind the house. Fuckin' thieves had to lift an 86' Camry onto the neighbor's lawn to get the car out of the driveway. My father was totally heartbroken. It was recovered in Brooklyn stripped and smashed to shit.
  16. Mine posted 140.7 HP on that same machine. I trust the operator I used. Friggin new ZX-10 made 155hp with some tuning. THe shop owners Busa made 205hp, no spray, no turbo.
  17. 1991 Hmmmm. Turbo ? Do you have any mods done? If it's a non-turbo, are you running a header? If you are, have you taped it yet? My father has a 1993 twin turbo RX-7. 8,300 miles orig.
  18. I had my 01'' Dyno'd on the same model machine. They are getting lowish #'s. I wonder if it was calibrated correctly and the numbers were corrected? 122HP on a bird? That's LOW. About 15 hp low actually. Makes ya' wonder a little.
  19. What year is the RX-7?
  20. I have a pair of those. Thanks for the info!
  21. sykotek-xx, I noticed you have satillite radio on you bike (cool, I'm envious), can you fill me in on how you integrated headphones/speakers into your helmet? Adam
  22. Did anyone listen to the soundfile attached to that web site? I don't know what those things were fitted to, but it ended up sounding like an old Flat Head Ford to me. I.E: Crappy. That has to be one of the farthest out ideas I have ever seen. Wacky. :scratchhead:
  23. Ping John01XX, he sell & ships them. He has the "improved version" with the green dots. I think it took me a whole 15 minutes start to finish to swap mine out. Well worth the $$. BTW, John charged me $35USD for the part.
  24. I'll say that that's for sure! Peircing loud at 9Krmp on the Dyno! So would anyone who rode this past year at FUXXT who was behind me.
  25. Does it call for ported vacuum or non ported vacumm? Ported is before the throttle blades( or in the airbox after the airfilter ) and non ported is after the throttle blade.
