    my new bike and family
  1. Then their must be a loud exhaust law or something that says you can't have a bike that has a exhaust sound over a certain amount of decibals. But I don't ride hard and fast anymore, and I don't see alot of Harley riders getting pulled over for their loud pipes.
  2. I figure, a bike that is heard is a bike that is seen.
  3. So I have this nice looking two brothers polished oval can slip-on for my 97' bird. It has a nice sound, not too quiet, but not as loud as I would like it. So here is my question, if I were too drill out those rivets on the end, I could take out the fiberglass packing around the spark arrestor, replace everything, then the bike should sound piss your sleeping neighbor off loud, right? Will doing this mess with my carbs as well?
  4. After cleaning the carbs, which I found to be pretty clean, I ran the bike again. Now I do have a K&N filter, so I'm going to assume that it is probably the same problem you are having. I will switch back to stock and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up on the filter info. That's something I probably wouldn't have thought about.
  5. At 17.00 dollars a pop, that's not exactly cheap, but hey, I'm no Lawyer either.
  6. So I decided it was time to change my oil filter, and instead of going to the Yamaha/Honda dealership and getting the factory oil filter, I opted to go to the Mom and Pop shop right down the street and purchased an aftermarket brand filter. After talking to a guy who apparently knows everything about bikes, I was told that was an incredibly stupid move on my part. He goes on to say how aftermarket filters commonly collapse causing major engine damage. Is there any truth to this, or should I not worry too much and just ride?
  7. Can sea foam be used with carbed bikes as well?
  8. Well I finished it and got the aftermarket LED turn signals. Looks really good, cleans that ass end up real well.
  9. Very nice! I'm going to give it a go this weekend. Did a hacksaw and file work the best for the lower portion?
  10. Where did you re-position the key hole?
  11. Was interested in doing a fender eliminator, but do not want to pay the price for the kit. Has anybody done their own or somebody else's? Would you mind posting a pic, so I can see how it would look?
  12. I'm interested in doing the same with mine. Could you post a pic or two?
  13. After buying my bike and having the single after market exhaust on the right side, I noticed that the center stand really protrudes out on the left. I was wondering how many people have removed it, and would it be worth it to do so especially if you need to lube the chain and do other basic mechanical repairs to the bike?
  14. I'm going with that then. Thank You for your help.
  15. I guess i should have put that in the first place...... 97' with 13,000 on her; not sure if she's been sitting too long, but I figure with those low miles she probably wasn't rode too much. Has a factory jet kit, but I don't notice any hesitation in any other gear except 5th and 6th.
