  1. Canola in XX w 5k intervals, then recycle in stir-fry...
  2. That is an interesting question? I would think the topbox alone would have less impact on mileage vs. panniers (esp. E41s that make XX as wide as a Civic).
  3. I have the Signal Dynamics Headlight Modulator. It has 2 separate wiring harnessses into high and low which i have both wired currently (alias both modulate). The plan is to disconnect the low going back to oem wiring (taking modulator totally outta da loop) while leaving high hooked to modulator. The low HID shoud have a total disconnect from modulator now being wired to oem. The plan is to have low completely bypass modulatar wiring/blackbox. Right? Editted: Whoa, a message got deleted or i gotta lay off da slushies...
  4. Plus, when i'm riding at night when u can't modulate, i will be a lot more conspicius w low HID and see road a lot better. This is good...
  5. Redbird wrote: My thoughts exactly Tim, but I'm speculating that a modulating high will be of some use in bright sunlight, moreso in diminishing light when your profile is less pronounced. At worse case i should be at least as conspicious as b4 (plus will light up road in low light/night 4 my aging eyes), at best case it should increase my conspicuity nicely. I'm getting too old to be T-boning cagers. Thanks 4 yer input (was patiently waiting), putting order in now, woohoo...
  6. I wanna git in on the HID group buy. I have the Signal Dynamics Headlight Modulator wired to both my high and low beams. 1. Modulator and HID is not compatible on same light, right? 2. How much brighter from the cagers point-of-view is low HID over oem low bulb regarding conspicuity? 3. Want to unhook modulator from low, leave modulator hooked to high and put 5300k HID in low. This should give me bright HID low for night / low light riding plus can use my modulated high during the day (flashing below HID) to increase conspicuity. I rarely ride at night when i can consistently use high beam. Does this make sense? Xman and me want to split an order. Thanks in advance HID experts
  7. Damn, I've been sleeping at the wheel, is this group buy still on? DOH
  8. That sounds about right (full yoshi, pcIII), but have to be honest, never seen 35, 31 a couple of times, but never 35. Saw a 23 once, but may have been a bit more than +5 over the speed limit for most that tank. does that make a difference? Worrying about mpg on an XX is like worrying about calories sneaking a large piece of cheezecake when u r on a diet. Just fucking twist it and enjoy the rush
  9. www.whitebuffaloracing.com had a 112 link zvm when i bought mine a couple of months ago...

    OIL FILTER

+1, I use the PL14610 which is the 3.25" flavor (vs. PL14612 2.75" flavor) cause it fits in behind the full yoshi header... Either is about $6 at Fleet Farm... Bigger is better, right?
  13. Hey Tim, I swapping out my chain/sprockets right now  Bet u r impressed, right? Put new and old rear right up next to each other, old one looked good, but putting new rear on, will clean up old and use another day, it had 21k on it... Rickrad is stopping over tomorrow morning about 10ish to teach / supervise my riveting of master link... Damn, that is one dirty bird back there, looks like a 2 bow-wow slushy job to just get 'er cleaned up tonite. And hey, I didn't know the rear sprocket was silver colored and it looks like the swingarm is made outta aluminum (based on a test clean swipe) I wunder if the wife will notice i'm using her toothbrush to clean those tight spots?
  14. 32K for '01 and beyond w iridiums, right?
  15. I had 55w fogs on previously, if u r caught in stop'n'go, etc. i would turn them off, the alternator can't keep up, don't ask how i know this too  It's also true if tooling around in an ERC course all day. Had to bump start that wench XX in a front of a bunch of hardlys, most embarrassing day of my life  But my payback was when 2 of dose hardlys roll over during the stopping exercise, the MSF instructor made them use the front brake and they had never done that b4 :naughtydance: :ohshit: :ohshit: Funny stuff...
  16. Artic, that's how I have my fogs mounted. Works great! Gives a unique 5 star light pattern for conspicuity and ez to route wiring up into XX. My lights r smaller and tucked in closer to rotors, nothing breaks on tipovers, don't ask how i know this
  17. That's cause i use Lockite...
  18. damnit chaser, now u did it, u reminded me to... make a bow wow slushy... woof woof...
  19. silverbird1100 + 1 industrial strength double sticky velcro on top of tankbag plus i use a small bungee across the top. Super secure and tankbag acts like an absorber. I've rigged one of those small ziploc bags to slip over in light rain and in heavy rain stuff in tankbag in ziploc (still works). Koss earplug speakers tipped w Moldex Rocket earplugs for audio alert makes one ready to rock'n'roll... p.s. one huge benefit it cuts out all the roaring wind nosie but still hear the yoshi raising mischief, hehehehehehe... http://www.aerostich.com/search.php?mode=search
  20. between subframe rail and tail tupperware, left side, inside the grab handle to lift XX up on center stand. resevoir sits upright and simply removing seat allows u pour in more oil.
  21. http://www.eagleeyelights.com/2005catalog9-16.pdf 1862NB (amber fog), about 1/2 page down... 20W units (MR11) that gives very good conspicuity to oncoming/turning from sideroad cagers, but don't do much lighting up incoming road to see better (no way r they Warchild PIAAs for lighting things up). I bought them for conspicuity, period!!!! According to my Passport 8500 voltmeter, take WAY less drain on alternater vs. 35w/55 halogons i had down there previously. I read yer concern via fog (gives me da gitters mucho too), i can't vough for them in heavy fog, but they definitely make a difference up here in MN at night, dusk, dawn and daylight for conspicuity (sorry, heavy fog in morning i drive my anemic screaming hog Neon). I've set my XX to put up a 5 star dice pattern w modulatating headligtht in da middle, low or high beam. The Eagle Eyes mentioned above have very limited distribution, but r high quality units for reasonable $ doing a very good job for conspicuity and stealthy mount. Bulb replacement is $10 including shipping in USA. Sorry to get a bit long on this, if questions, just ask or PM me. I consider topnotch helmet, modulating headlight and lower fork fog lights on demand the most 3 important safety thingys u can put on a bike in that order...
  22. Many miles on HawkOiler, ProOiler not available when i bought Hawke: Ups: Quality unit, great service, worked as advertised, on demand in adverse conditions (downside to those if memory-challenged), uses M1 85w-90, solid unit... Downs: On demand (see above), somewhat complicated to install (ProOiler looks similar), 1 sided injection (i install HawkOiler dual tip per Warchild, works great, another $45)... If do it again: Quickly read ProOiler link, has dual injector, about $230+ w price being similar, like ProOiler design concept of rotatations vs. ScottOiler polling cycles. Probaby give nod to ProOiler over on-demand HawkeOiler today, both over ScottOiler. Will ProOiler take a high quality gear oil like say a M1 85w-90? That is important... If u buy one, i found the perfect place to put the oil reservoir that is outta sight and ez to refill. And yes, that is a trick question...
  23. Clean chain? Hell, i don't even clean the tank...
