  1. I ordered 2 - thanks for the link
  2. In my experience with multiple engines of different types, Castrol GTX sludges a LOT compared to most other brands. I have opened up a VW engine that had only GTX in it for the lifetime of the engine and despite regular oil changes it had a thick layer of sludge that was profiled where the crank passed - looked really nasty and had a shitload of metal flakes in it. 100k miles and regular oil changes and that engine was toast. try a real oil....
  3. I thought they were Molex connectors
  4. My XX is a '97 with 220,000km and is still on original clutch - these things are STRONG. Bleed and enjoy. Your Ducati has a dry clutch. The XX has a wet clutch. Biiiiiiiig difference. On the noise, the clutch basket wears over time and can be clattery on an XX that has been used long or hard. Its normal.
  5. 30 years ago I had a device called a Deci-Foil installed on my CB900FA Same idea but that hunk of crap was poorly made and dropped me in shit at a police decibel test set up at a time when mother-grundies were bitching about us hooligan bikers. They set the tripod up behind my bike, I closed the valve and started it and it was great until they ran a sustained 5000rpm for about 2 minutes and it went from brrrrrrrrrrrrrr to BRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH and I got nailed for 109db noise pollution and a mandatory roadworthy test. FUCK!

    XX Q

I'm looking to invest in a HID projector kit that will need the front lens of the headlamp to be removed to have the projector units installed and the lens replaced. I have seen the result online and the guy who did it painted the reflector gloss black. The projector units focus the HID output into a perfect pattern and have the option of H4 type functionality to have dual lamps on for both dims and brights... fuckers in their poxy BMW's and Lexus'are going to shit next time they forget to come off brights. https://youtu.be/lRzGFNlsHCQ
  7. Still need mirrors but we'll get there
  8. This week has been a bit crazy workwise so I haven't managed to get new bolts and so forth....
  9. Got the panels today and the quality seems good. I need to get new frankenbolts because my originals are corroded to crap. Have placed an order for new OEM mirrors and that will take a couple weeks to arrive. I'm going to rattlecan the tank satin black until I get the chance to get it matched to the panels. Will post pics as soon as I get the upper on tomorrow.
  10. I receive my new panels on Thursday - will send pics. I chose Titanium (thats all they had in stock without fucking DRAGONS on the lowers) and will need to have my tank painted to match. Will be nice to get my XX on the road again....
  11. Check the 2 plugs into the instrument cluster. Sometimes the foil separates from the plastic sheet and contacts go crazy
  12. I'm looking to get new plastic from www.superfairings.Co.za The quality seems ok but ya never know.
  13. The old cb750/900/1100 was famous for missed 4 to 5 shifts. How fresh is your oil? I find my XX duffs shifts when the oil gets marginal - not black or crappy, just not at its best.
  14. truly a fucking talent... maybe we need to hand the hat around to buy you a sheep. Some stresses can't be talked away
  15. The process my son and I use to burp our birds is kinda simple but still a PITA. On sidestand, pour fluid into radiator filler cap (and fill header tank as welll) and then start engine. Idle to warm keeping an eye on the fluid level in the radiator filler neck, topping as needed blip the throttle occasionally to move bubbles around switch off and let the bike cool down - the fluid level drops bigtime. Top up again and idle till warm with throttle blips where desired. When no more bubbles appear, put cap on and ride.
  16. Gracias Will get him to take a peek later.
  17. My son Gavin has a 2000 XX that has developed a wierd issue. When cold it won't idle at all. Get some heat into the motor and all is fine though. This morning he had to restart the bike about 4 times before he could get out the driveway, and it takes about 5km for it to build up enough heat to behave. Last night after he got home he had dinner and did some study work, submitted an assignment, and then at about 9PM went into the gayrage and the bike started and idled no problem - its only when it is COLD cold, first thing in the morning. Has anyone encountered something like this? Fixes? Advice? The bike has a clean air filter, new plugs, and a recent oil change.
  18. Might be easiest to leave tgetank off the bike for a day or so resting on a clean sheet of cardboard. If thetank and card was clean to start off it should give a clear indication of where the leak lives. On the bike it's gonnabe way harder to trace.
  19. that would be the teeny foam doodad on the oil breather into the airbox from the cranbkcase?
  20. or put an HID kit in and solve the problem properly
  21. My son Gavin has a full Yoshi 4 into 1 system on his '00 and it sounds like a crappy CBR600 My '97 on the other hand has a crappy no-name set of stainless slipons that sound like sex and crackle on the overrun. Carbie for the WIN
  22. And here we have Dave's BDSM kit on display
  23. spec was 150hp on crank at mean sea level (or the standard barometric pressure used by ISO or CE or whoever defined the standard) Corrected rear wheel HP is a variable depending on state of health of the bike being tested, barometric pressure, skill and credibility of the dyno operator, and the type of dyno used.
