  1. We're at three weeks. I'm wondering if I'm getting the run-around....
  2. Yeah - My stator went when idling in traffic, coming back through a really slow customs, at Sault Ste Marie. A new auxiliary fan, splices, and connector blocks are a definite possibility in my future.
  3. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=53662&page=2 No, I thought someone just did one - Don't actually recall seeing pictures. Thanks for the link though. I see I posted in the one you listed BTW.
  4. I've climbed those trails. They're a challenge alright. It was a few years ago now. It rained on us all that night and all the next morning as we were packing up. The trip is legendary in our group.
  5. Could someone please direct me to the auxiliary fan/cooling thread. I looked - quite a while, a couple weeks back - no luck.
  6. I took it to the stealer for service. ...no good time to work on it. I don't think the FI is a very big draw. I rode most of 4 hours with the headlight "out" and it didn't take much charge off the new battery.
  7. Have you considered raising the bars a bit and getting peg lowering brackets? You'd really be surprised.
  8. I have not usually checked those items. I will make a mental note though. http://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/part/21-126/MDBIb25DQlIxMTAwWFg= http://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com http://cx500forum.com/forum/general-discussion/5716-why-do-stators-fail.html#post72170
  9. Zero - You state they produce more charge than is needed. I'm interested in a heavy duty stator. ...more from the standpoint that I want something able to take a tidge more heat. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=59455&page=2&hl=%2Bheavy+%2Bduty+%2Bstator#entry684694
  10. Bring these forward. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=53455 http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=33318 http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=81041 It is my understanding that a dying battery can take out a stator/regulator. Does anyone else know of this?
  11. ...to know is already in another thread. I just had a beer for breakfast. I'm going to a family get-together on my wife's side of the family later today. I have to go in to work tomorrow to catch up from my trip. Sometimes it's not about the actual repair. My family wanted to ride the bikes to the event today. I have some fixing to have enough for everyone.
  12. Right on the base soil. it's not long term. We're planning on a new driveway once the kids finish college. If I intended it to last a long time there would have been a few inches of base and plant barrier,
  13. Watch out for that butterfly you keep stepping on....
  14. First real ride. Circumnavigated Lake Superior. I'm very happy. I got a mild flat spot started in about 1,600 miles. The roads generally lent themselves to even wear I'd say. I got to lean in the corners a lot. Can't comment on rain performance. It was dry and 75 degrees most of the time. They make a cool deep thunking sound when they're kicking gravel out of road topping in construction zones BTW.
  15. butt it still works here. :)

  16. A friend needed to get rid of some old pavers. I borrowed a trailer and brought them home last fall. This week I went and got an inexpensive Ryobi skill saw that I could trash cutting custom shapes out of a few of the blocks. My middle son ran the roto-tiller to loosen up the soil a little for leveling and my wife marked off some kind of crop-circle thing for an outline. We used small wood stakes and string to line up the edges. We removed about 1-1/2" of soil and started laying pavers. I cut a lot f pavers and that little Ryobi kept going like a trooper. My son invited a few of his friends over to help. Afterward we had brats on the grill and pasta salad. It was a fun project, but I was beat. Junior was pretty proud of the results I think.
