  1. I just broke the zipper on one of my Sidi Strada's the other day. Warrantied for life, but local shoe shop (Logan's Magic on Western Avenue for Vern & Demon....he rides daily btw) is repairing for $13.00, about the price of shipping.
  2. Last winter I cut the helmet tab off flush then got some plumber's strap, painted it black, and tapped into the frame. I wrapped this around the reservoir. It is not hard to fill up. I ran the vent hose up to the rear of the frame, a couple of inches above the level of the res. You really really should solder every connex on the bike.
  3. My manual is for a 97-98. The speed sensor is on top of the gear box right near the coolant reservoir. You have to lift the gas tank to access the top of the gear box. +1....I have tapped into the wire for 2 applications, the pro-oiler and my cruise control. It comes straight up from the tranny. (99 bird)
  4. SWEET! I just got the 2 sizes I needed to remove the fairings, would be cool to have a whole set!
  5. Do any of you guys use these doohickeys? They are craftsamn hex sockets. You can put them on your crdless drill and take all the bolts off your plastics in seconds! the great thing is you can put your drill's torque setting on when putting them on and know they are all at the same setting. Makes anything that requires plastic removal a ton easier.
  6. Once a year for me, whether I need it or not. Owner's manual says 8K, I'm good with taht. My Mini says every 15,000. Too long, I say.
  7. I took my tank off for 2 months last winter with petrol in it. Left it outside on a trailer, upside down, with saran wrap rubber banded to the tubing. Didn't have any problems.
  8. Just a question... are they any better or just way cooler looking?
  9. C'mon, dudes, just tryin' to lighten things up a bit. Fuck like I need more speed!
  10. I have an old Craftsman leaf blower sitting in my shop. It is one of those hand held 205 MPH 2 stroke jobs. Think it would do the trick??? It is black, and I could get probably 20 minutes out of a tank. Would it hurt to run it full throttle even when the bike is idling? Any ideas?

    Ping Ruhi

Hey, Mr Clean...... Would you please post some photos of the meticulous handiwork under your seat??? I am especially interested in your gang box and IPod voltage source. Unless, of course it is proprietary.. Thanks so much, Philip
  12. I bought a set of Metzler M3's from Cycle Gear last spring, they had recently been introduced and the dealerships did not have them yet. But it is always a good idea to check the BOD.
  13. Brett, thanks! I pushed the contact side into the buss bar first. Maybe that's the problem. I will reverse the order this evening. Dion, thanks, but I did factor in stress placed by the wire...not a factor. As far as being careful, I work sober around that kind of amperage.
  14. Man, that's a great start! Thanks! The HVAC guy said the box WAS a Square-D, so their shouldn't be any component mixing. I will look though, to see if I can fix it as per your reply. I may take the old 60A breaker with me to see what looks just like it. The old box was an FPE and I was told that the breakers were getting pricey. Since I was having part of the house remodeled, I went for a new box to carry the extra circuits.
  15. My HVAC started tripping a breaker, so I called the HVAC guy to come look see. He told me that the new box I had installed last year (I didn't install it, some contractor did) had too small a breaker for the heat unit. (It's a heat pump) He said the internal heat coil that cuts on for big loads was doing the tripping. He showed me the wires and we did the math, and he was right. I have no problem with that. I was told to replace the 60A with an 80A. He could not do it w/o charging another service call, he said. I was told exactly what to get, a Square-D 80A "home series" breaker. Home Depot had one, so I got it and brought it home & installed it. My problem: The new breaker is about 1/2" longer than the old one and the rest of the breakers in the box. It "fits" the contacts and works fine, but I cannot get it to snap into place, I think it is hanging up on something. Will you look at tyhe picture and tell me what you think is going on??? ANY help would be appreciated.

    Ruhi!

Ruhi your bike is sooo cool! Where did you get that very very clean electrical gang box? Can you share a picture? I want my bike to be just like yours, only black.

    MARBLE

Now we REALLY need more info!
  18. Dude, just buy it...it's worth it, you do not have to put yourself at the mercy of other people's free time (no offense, warchild) How much are you gonna save? Enough to buy a couple of Hardee's smoked sausage biscuits? (mmmmm those fuckers are good)

    Chain Oilers

My pro oiler died on me on the way back from Towanda. Not sure what happened, possibly blew a fuse in the downpour Doug & I encountered. It has an emergency mode on it thank goodness, just pulsing per unit of time. A little unnerving, as far away from home as we were, plus a brand new chain and sprockets. I will diagnose this problem soon. Otherwise, I am VERY happy with it.
  20. Radio Shack sells $14 ohm meters. Bring your wires to them, buy the ohmmeter, and they will show you how. It's a piece of cake to do) Once you have seen it once, the basic idea will stick in yer head forever. They are pretty essential tools for a bike. BTW I have an autocom and you will enjoy yours
  21. Have you called Ron Ayers for pricing? I just got a DID gold chain, and OEM Honda drive sprocket and driven sprockets for less tha $250 total price. I got a motion pro for $99 from Cycle Gear and was very pleased with how it worked. From everything I have read here, you are going to regret getting an aluminum sprocket. The drive sprocket from Honda has a big thick bushing pressed into it to quiet the drive chain.
  22. I just bought a Pro motion at Cycle gear for less than a hundred bucks. VERY cool machine. You can use it for lots of other things around the garage if no one is looking... I will be interested in having some of you comparing my pressed in rivets to some done "professionally" or guaranteed "correctly" I offered to put a chain on a buddy's tl1000 but he declined.
