  1. Vern has a no-mar. I think he talked about getting rid of it at one point.
  2. Analysis of oil that has been in the motor since 1997-98. I am not a tea leaf reader, but it looks to me like a tear down and inspection. Last motorcycle engine rebuild I did was in 1986 on a sportster. This bike does not use an oil filter. It has a mesh screen strainer. MGV7-210415.pdf
  3. Cycle gear will do it while you wait. (Wheels off the bike) It is maybe $35 a wheel. I can gauran-damn-tee you BMW has figured out a way to make R/R as difficult as possible. That is not an unreasonable price for factory-authorized R/R. I have also bought tires there. As competitive as anywhere else, without going insane trying to find the very cheapest. You may laugh, but you should check out the local HD joint. Let me know if you decide to go to Good Times. I’ll pick you up and we can go to Tits R Us and grab a beer.
  4. Just found a better picture of my goose, ca. 1993 in Louisville, KY right after purchase. Modeling this beautiful bike is my beautiful daughter, D1. The bike will go to her when I’m dead.
  5. Alanb, I’ve gotten something from each of these guys. Since you more or less called dibbs, who should I purchase from? I do not want to piss any of you guys off.
  6. I’ll take a set from one of you. After my loop gets running I will start on BB1.
  7. I hear ya. Today, for the first time in my life, I picked up my bike. From a shop. For maintenance. Brake pads. Flushing lines. Chain and sprockets replaced. 600 large, plus the cost of a couple beers there. (What a great place!) I mean, I used to be a real biker. Now, not so much. The ride home was great. Loved the brake job, much better than I could have done myself, but you know, no grease under my fingernails. Tools not being used, no barn beer. When I got home I planted some canna gillies for wifey.
  8. This has happened to me. Old battery, hot day, wreck on the interstate. Finally just pulled over at a high point until traffic cleared. Had to push the bike off.
  9. Not at all. I have seen some threads go more sideways than this. BTW, if you see any old Dellortos, give me a shout.
  10. That picture is just a serving suggestion. I am keeping the stock seat. It was stowed out of the elements and is in great shape. Same for the tank. Except the chrome pads had been painted over so it will be finished back to original appearance. I am trying to keep as many existing parts as possible. The mufflers are not stock, as are the carburetors. Finding them stock is going to be a bitch.
  11. https://www.smartcycleguide.com/L51821810 Doesn’t Catbird have a silver bird? Haven’t heard from her in a coon’s age. Nice looking bike.
  12. Yeah, I was kind of hoping engagement from the community would help keep me motivated. And there are always those tips, tricks, and trivia that make life interesting. My goal is to re-use as many of the original parts as possible, but there are a few things I am going to need to get it to near original and the board will expand my reach hopefully. 13. I have become fully committed now. Hopefully this will be the end result:
  14. Once I built the new barn, I placed it on my lift in it’s own (yet to be finished) stall, promising it will be rewired, but with the deterioration from being in a decrepit storage facility, it was obvious it was going to need more than that.
  15. This picture was from a Toys for Tots ride in Knoxville around 1995. That’s my son Jonathan. In the fall of 1997 I was riding on the BRP when the wiring harness in the cowl caught fire. (A known issue now). I parked it in the barn, and life happened.
  16. What are the medals for? I would like to know so we can all give the man some respect.
  17. My condolences to your friend.
  18. Happy birthday, Bill. Feel the love!
  19. I have a spare radiator that came with Zero’s bike. Mike, was it functioning? I would be happy to ship it to whether good or repairable if yours is tits up. I will go with the crowd on keeping a more stock unit. Oh, and if you do change it out that is perfect time to install Evans No-Boil.
  20. There are a couple of folks here that can check it out for anyone...... like we really need to.
  21. This is a tough one. Starting the restoration of my old V7. I have found a DS on ebay for $250.00 in used condition. I don’t have a problem with getting it but thought I would reach out here to see if anyone has a line on a set or a DS. Bike was bought with a set of Mikunis on it, but they do not allow the use of the original airbox. .I am open to suggestions as to other brands, models, etc, but I really want to fit the airbox back on. I will be reaching out to some old Guzzi forums, but thought I would ask here as well. This is what I am trying to do:
  22. Received Wednesday. Thanks!
  23. I don’t think it is really overheating, just seems like it. Really. It does not like stop and go traffic, but as long as you are moving (AND your cooling system is patent) you should be OK. Get one of those cheap IR thermometers from Lowes and watch it cycle while it is sitting still, you will see. I have 2 EFI birds, and both have Evans. 76,000 and 113,00 miles. One of them I bought from a board member who thought it had cooling problems. Turns out (I believe) the gauge just flat-out reads hot. IR supports my belief.
  24. Is the rear stock gearing? The rear is 1 less, right? If yes to both, I will buy them. PM please at your leisure.
  25. Well, a home, at least.
