  1. you could probably bore out the cylinders to 1200 cc's. Not sure how much that would cost though.
  2. hm.. wouldn't that essentially 'clean it'? What is the base color of a 98 header's metal? maybe after i get it out' date=' i should just soak the whole thing in WD 40 to make it look pretty.. thanks.[/quote'] Be a DICK...that ought to help  ? no im being serious, i guess it looks like sarcasm though.. sorry! i used WD 40 to clean the swingarm to my previous bike before selling it and it made it look practically new with a little elbow grease. 8) Im just not sure it would be a good thing on the header.. or maybe it just wont do anything?
  3. hm.. wouldn't that essentially 'clean it'? What is the base color of a 98 header's metal? maybe after i get it out, i should just soak the whole thing in WD 40 to make it look pretty.. thanks.
  4. your right, but it doesn't even move. its not like im just spinning it around and it isn't coming off. well i can spin the actual bolt from the right side but of course it isn't going anywhere. the nut isn't coming off though. Maybe I should have some force on each side though.
  5. Im trying to get the header off my 98 so I can put on a custom header that Jeff made. Im excited as hell to get it on and see what it looks/sounds like. The header screws off fine from the engine outlets, but that one bolt under the belly just will not come out! I've tried screwing off the nut on the left side of the bike and tried to screw off the bolt from the right side. Neither seems to work. I think all the heating and cooling down made it ridiculously tight. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it off? Thanks.
  6. I seem to be getting over 35 mpg when im not being conservative about my gas (using the 6000-8000 rpm range quite a bit, albeit just for getting up to speed). First time filling up the XX took about 4.6 gallons and I rode for about 160 miles, then filled it up again to about the same spot took about 4.25 gallons. So I figure 160/4.25=38 mpg.. Give or take some error.. Must have something to do with my 130 pound self?
  7. im a moron... I bought front pegs...  flame away..
  8. I bought some aftermarket rear pegs for the bird on ebay. They look pretty sweet (black): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4544235881 I still have the brackets and pegs from my old XX, so I tried to test them out--problem is, they don't fuking fit! It said in the ad that it will bit an XX, but they don't. They are a little thick, but I was thinking maybe I can shave them down a little. But the holes are also too big.. so it wouldn't matter anyways, they would be sliding all over the place if I used the stock fitting bolts. A Part No. sticker on the product it says it is made for a CBR 600 89-92... What should I do? These pegs look real nice compared to those fugly stock ones, so I would still like to use them, or get similar looking aftermarket pegs that actually fit. Thanks..
  9. Ya, listen to Nik. Muscle it... ... then strip the thread #-o .....then use an oversized bolt ......then have the oversized bolt crack the housing #-o .......then come on the forums so we can make fun of you ........then almost break something else trying to fix something else #-o .........then come back on the forums so we can make more fun of you ..........then let the thread die before your ego gets hurt anymore. This is all hypothetical :lmao:
  10. ...so im guessing you don't recommend the lowering link?
  11. When I do it, I'd like to lower the seat height by 1". How much should I shorten the shock to do this (im guessing less than 1 inch..)? What is the shock-to-bike ratio on height adjustment? Ie, if I adjust the shock .5 inches and it lowers the seat height by 1 inch, the ration would be 1-2. I am guessing I would then lower the tripples by 1 inch as well to keep the bike level and perform as usual? Also thanks for posting the torque measurements, rockme.
  12. Im actually wondering this myself as well. I plan on lowering the backend slightly, and would like to even it out by lowering the front so I don't have to muscle through the turns.
  13. Thanks for the info Jason. I would probably dupe all your mods if I wouldn't feel like such a poser . Very clean backend. But I do think i'll try your tail light mod...and your flush mounts..and paint my reflector....lol. I also agree that it looks so much better with the can's switched around like that. I never was fond of the D&D logo.. its just too... plain and square.. 8)
  14. +1 on the nice ass! Jason--did you powdercoat the rear lock? What kind of flush mount's are those in the rear cowl vents? What did you do to make your tail light look like that? That CBRXX thing under the brake light looks sweet too.
  15. the light is pretty nice, but damn.. just when I thought the stock rear signals couldn't get any uglier... :stickpoke: Nice to have an english version of that page tho!
